IEC Standards

The meter conforms to IEC standards for energy accuracy (IEC 62053-21), EMC requirements (IEC 61326-1:2012), degree of protection (IEC 60529), safety (IEC 61010 series), and vibration/shock (IEC 62052-11).

Certifications

The SMART 7KT multifunction meter complies with relevant IEC standards, IPC electronics assembly standards, and RoHS directives.

Assembly and Installation

Installation: Prepare the panel cutout with specified dimensions (91.5 mm x 91.5 mm for a 96x96 mm front panel).

Steps:

  1. Insert the unit into the panel.
  2. Position the terminal clamps into their respective slots.
  3. Push/slide all 4 clamps towards the panel evenly until engaged. Ensure the meter is securely tightened and does not move.

[Diagram description: Visual guide showing the insertion of the meter into the panel, positioning of clamps, and tightening mechanism.]

Note: Terminal screw tightening torque: 0.7 N-m to 0.8 N-m.

Mounting Distance: Maintain at least 100 mm distance between two meters when mounting on a panel door.

Installation Guidelines

  • Terminals are not accessible after installation in a main control panel.
  • Ensure conductors do not contact internal circuitry to prevent safety hazards.
  • Install a circuit breaker or mains switch for power ON/OFF function, accessible to the operator.
  • Short-circuit the secondary of external current transformers before disconnecting.
  • Install only under specified environmental conditions.
  • Installation of an external fuse (275V AC / 0.5Amp) is recommended.
  • Remove the scratch-guard from the display during commissioning.

Wiring Guidelines

  • Keep power supply OFF during wiring.
  • Follow the terminal layout strictly and confirm all connections.
  • Use lugged terminals.
  • Use wires with adequate ratings and twists for reduced electromagnetic interference.
  • Route cables away from internal EMI sources.
  • Power source cables should have a cross-section of 1mm² to 2.5mm² and a current carrying capacity of 6A.
  • Use copper cable (stranded or single core).

Demounting the meter

To demount the meter:

  1. Pull the arm of the sliding clamps outwards and drag them away from the panel.
  2. Disassemble the snap-fitted base clamps using a screwdriver.
  3. Push the meter from the back out of the panel window and remove the gasket.

Note: All fuse types mentioned are 0.5A, Class gG.

Configuration

The meter is configured using four dedicated keys: F1, F2, F3, F4.

  • Reading Serial Number: Press F3 for 5 seconds to display the 8-digit serial number.
  • Automatic/Manual Mode: Press F4 for 3 seconds to toggle between modes. In automatic mode, pages scroll every 5 seconds. Pressing any key temporarily switches to manual mode.
  • Password Protection: Access to configuration requires a password. The default is 1000. Use F1 to navigate digits, F2/F3 to change values. Press F3+F4 for 3 seconds to enter/exit configuration mode.

Parameterization with Function Keys

Detailed tables outline the configuration parameters, their ranges, factory settings, and the corresponding function key sequences for access. This includes settings for password, network selection, CT/PT ratios, baud rate, parity, backlight, demand intervals, and page sequences.

Reading of Parameters

The meter allows users to read various parameters by pressing function keys (F1, F2, F3, F4). Each key navigates through different screens displaying specific measurements such as voltages, currents, power factors, energy values, harmonics, and demand data. The available screens vary depending on the system configuration (e.g., 3-phase 3-wire, 1-phase 2-wire).

Communication

Protocol and Interface: Supports Modbus RTU protocol via an integrated RS485 interface.

Communication Parameters: Configurable parameters include communication address (1-255), transmission mode (half duplex), data types (float, integer), transmission distance (up to 500m), transmission speed (300-19200 bps), parity (None, Odd, Even), and stop bits (1 or 2).

Connection Diagram: A diagram illustrates the connection of the SMART 7KT meter to a master device via an RS485-RS232 converter, including the use of a terminating resistor.

[Diagram description: A schematic showing a Master device communicating with multiple SMART 7KT meters via an RS485 network, including a converter and optional terminating resistor.]

Modbus Register Addresses
