BRITA AquaAroma Crema Water Filter Cartridge
Model: AquaAroma Crema
Brand: BRITA
Product Overview
The BRITA AquaAroma Crema is a water filter cartridge designed for coffee and espresso machines. It helps to improve water quality for better-tasting coffee and protect your machine.
This cartridge is Tested and Certified by NSF International against NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for material requirements only.
Diagrams and Setup Indicators
The product includes several indicators and steps for setup:
- Diagram A: Aroma Dial - A dial on the bottom of the cartridge with color indicators (red to yellow, yellow to yellow-green, dark green) corresponding to water hardness levels.
- Diagram B: Cartridge Preparation - Shows the cartridge being immersed in cold water and gently shaken to remove air bubbles.
- Diagram C: Cartridge Insertion - Illustrates inserting the filter cartridge vertically into the designated slot or water tank of the coffee machine.
- Diagram D: Water Tank Filling - Depicts filling the water tank with fresh water.
- Diagram E: Coffee Preparation - Shows a coffee machine brewing a cup of coffee using the filtered water.
- Diagram F: Date Field - A space to manually record the date of cartridge installation or replacement (Day, Month, Year).
- Diagram G: Aroma Stage Indicator - A field to note the selected aroma setting.
Setting the Aroma Dial
The aroma dial on the underside of the AquaAroma Crema cartridge adjusts the filter's performance to optimize for local water conditions. The settings correspond to water hardness:
Aroma Level | Color Scale | Usage | Water Hardness |
---|---|---|---|
A | Red to Yellow | For soft water | Up to 8.5 °dH |
B | Yellow to Yellow-Green | For medium-hard water | 8.5–13.5 °dH |
C | Dark Green | For hard water | From 13.5 °dH |
Note: The aroma dial is factory set to level «B». Water hardness can be determined using a test strip or by contacting the local water supplier. To determine the optimal setting with a test strip:
- Immerse the test strip's reaction field in tap water for 1 second.
- After 1 minute, compare the reaction field's color to the indicated color scale to read the aroma dial setting.
- Record the selected aroma setting in the aroma stage field (G) for future reference.
Filter Cartridge Commissioning and Replacement
Follow these steps to set up and replace the filter cartridge:
- Rotate the aroma dial on the underside of the AquaAroma Crema to the detected level (refer to section 2.1).
- Immerse the cartridge in cold water and gently shake it to remove all air bubbles.
- Remove the water tank from the coffee machine and insert the filter cartridge vertically into its designated slot or the water tank. You should hear a distinct click as it locks into place. Note: Only a correctly seated cartridge guarantees full filter performance.
- Fill the tank with cold drinking water and reinsert it into the coffee machine.
- Before brewing the first coffee, the AquaAroma Crema filter cartridge must be rinsed with water. If the coffee machine does not indicate or perform this automatically, rinse the filter cartridge with half a liter of tap water. Consult your coffee machine's user manual for specific instructions.
- If your coffee machine does not have an electronic display for cartridge replacement, note the date of installation (or replacement) in the date field (F).
Replacement Schedule
The electronic display on your coffee machine typically indicates when the AquaAroma Crema cartridge needs replacement. If your machine lacks an electronic display, replace the cartridge based on the capacity table below or after a maximum of 6 months. BRITA also recommends regular cleaning of the water tank.
Aroma Level | Capacity (liters) | Number of 35ml Cups | Number of 150ml Cups |
---|---|---|---|
A | 220 | 6,300 | 1,470 |
B | 150 | 4,300 | 1,000 |
C | 80 | 2,300 | 540 |
When replacing the AquaAroma filter cartridge, repeat the steps in section 2.2, ensuring hygiene and proper handling.
Operating and Safety Instructions
If the filter is used in a non-domestic environment or for activities involving food industry processes, the appliance must specify information identifying who is responsible for the quality of the filtered water supplied.
Filtered water may differ from Annex C of D. lgs. 31/2001 regarding the following parameters: Ammonia, Hydrogen concentration (pH), Hardness.
When the filter is exhausted, replace it with a new one. If a new filter is not available, remove the exhausted filter. The alteration of these parameters by the filter has been scientifically proven to have no adverse health effects.
- Store spare cartridges with intact sealing in a cool, dry place.
- For the AquaAroma Crema filter cartridge, use only cold drinking water. Never use microbiologically contaminated water or water of unknown microbiological quality without proper sterilization.
- When selecting materials for components that come into contact with water downstream of the BRITA filtration system, consider that decarbonized water contains free carbonic acid as a result of the process. Therefore, only appropriate materials should be used.
- If officially requested to boil tap water, BRITA filtered water must also be boiled. After this operation, the entire appliance must be cleaned and the filter cartridge replaced.
- Clean the water tank regularly.
- It is generally recommended to boil tap water for certain groups of people (e.g., those with weakened immune systems, infants). This also applies to filtered water.
- Warning for kidney patients or dialysis patients: During the filtration process, a slight increase in potassium content may occur. If you have kidney problems and/or must follow a special potassium-restricted diet, consult your doctor beforehand.
- Water in the tank, intended for human consumption, should be consumed within 1-2 days.
- After a maximum of 2 days, water remaining in the tank, if not consumed, must be replaced. Pay attention to cleanliness when handling the tank and water, both when filling and emptying.
- These instructions for use are an integral part of the product and must be kept together with the user manual for the espresso machine.
- The commissioning and replacement of the BRITA AquaAroma Crema filter cartridge must be performed exactly as indicated in these instructions for use. BRITA is not liable for any damages, including indirect damages, that may result from incorrect use of the product.
