INTRO

To ensure proper use and care of your new RECON E HL LED lights, please read this entire manual before installation and operation.

Traffic laws for bicycle lights vary by country. Ensure compliance with local regulations.

RECON E HL LED lights are controlled via the E-bike system's onboard electronics and are intended only for E-bikes with DC voltage that have their own battery charge indication and control. The E-bike system must also be capable of automatically shutting off the light when the battery reaches critical voltage to prevent deep discharge.

These lights are powered by the E-bike motor and require manual installation. Depending on the E-bike model and battery type, installation may involve partial disassembly of the bike and motor, and additional wiring. Consult the appropriate Giant How-To video for your model or contact the E-bike/motor manufacturer for specific instructions.

NOTE: Incorrect disassembly, installation, or assembly may void your E-bike and/or light warranty. Professional installation by a trained E-bike technician is highly recommended.

ALIGNING THE RECON E HL BEAM

Proper beam alignment ensures glare-free illumination and compliance with road regulations.

Follow these steps:

  1. Place the bike 2.5 meters away from a wall and face it towards the wall.
  2. Turn on the RECON E HL and set it to high-beam mode.
  3. Ensure the light is parallel to the ground.
  4. Mark the cut-off line on the wall where the beam ends above and is brighter below.
  5. Measure and mark a point 7 cm below the cut-off line.
  6. Adjust the RECON E HL so the beam's height matches this new, lower cut-off line.

Diagram Description: The process involves positioning the bike at a specific distance from a wall (2.5m) and marking the light beam's edge. A reference point is made 7cm below this edge, and the light is adjusted to align its beam with this lower mark. This ensures a glare-free beam compliant with German road law, with the beam brighter below the cut-off line.

Note: Ensure the height of the light is between 70-120 cm from the ground.
