4 Storeroom, keyed functions

Used in secure storage, mechanical, and electrical rooms. Outside lever is locked at all times. A key is needed to open the door, and it locks again when the key is removed. There is no way to lock or unlock the door from the inside. Inside lever always free for immediate egress.

7 Entrance/office and exit, keyed functions

Both exit locks and entrance/office locks offer secure entry from the outside and free egress from the inside, ideal for areas needing security and convenience. Entrance/office locks have a key-operated exterior and an interior thumbturn or button, while mortise exit locks use a cylinder for exterior entry and an always-free inside lever, with an auxiliary latch for extra security.

6 Deadbolt, keyed functions

Deadbolts provide additional security and can be combined with other lock functions or used separately. They are often installed on doors with push/pull hardware, such as restroom doors with multiple stalls, to allow locking when needed, like during plumbing issues.

3 Classroom, keyed functions

Classroom locks are controlled from the outside and are used where key control is needed without an interior thumbturn or button, such as in office corridors. Classroom security locks allow teachers to lock the door from the inside during emergencies, enhancing safety during lockdowns.

6 Privacy, non-keyed functions

Used for restrooms, bedrooms, or dressing rooms, these locks can be secured from the inside with a thumbturn or push button for privacy. They are usually unlocked from the outside with a tool instead of a key and may include an indicator to show whether they are locked or unlocked.

3 Passage, non-keyed functions

Passage latch locks are used for interior doors where locking is not essential. They are often found on closet doors, hallways, and common areas. These locks feature non-locking door hardware, allowing easy access through the door without the need for a key or code.

6 Dummy, non-keyed functions

Dummy functions are non-operational door hardware used for decorative purposes. Single dummies are on one side for doors like closets; double dummies appear on both sides for symmetry on double french doors. Half and full dummies with mortise cases mimic the look of mortise locks without functionality.

3 Electrified functions

Electrified locksets in access control systems are either fail-safe or fail-secure. Fail-secure locks stay locked without power and unlock when powered, while fail-safe locks unlock when power is lost, useful in emergencies like fires. Both types can be controlled by card readers and always allow exit from the inside for safety.
