Nodor NorCook IH N6320 BK / SW Induction Hob

This document provides instructions for the Nodor NorCook IH N6320 BK and NorCook IH N6320 SW induction hobs.

About Induction Cooking

Induction cooking is a safe, advanced, efficient, and economical cooking technology. It works by electromagnetic vibrations generating heat directly in the cookware, rather than indirectly through heating the glass surface. The glass becomes hot only because the cookware eventually warms it up.

Key characteristics include:

  • Minimal heat dispersion (high performance).
  • Automatic stop of the cooking zone when cookware is removed or lifted.
  • Flexibility and precision control via the electronic system.

Product Overview

Using your Induction Hob

The control panel features the following elements:

  1. Timer
  2. Flexible Zone (on select models)
  3. Power level slider
  4. Stop&GO
  5. ON/OFF
  6. Keylock / Connectivity
  7. Cooking functions
  8. Booster

Getting Started

To start cooking:

  1. Touch the ON/OFF button (5) for 3 seconds. A beep indicates power on, and displays show "-" or "--", signifying standby mode.
  2. Place suitable cookware on the desired cooking zone. Ensure the cookware base and zone surface are clean and dry.
  3. Set the power level from 1 to 9 using the slider (3) or by touching the slider.
  4. If no power setting is selected within 20 seconds, the hob will automatically switch off. Restart from step 1.

Power levels can be adjusted at any time during cooking.

Display Flashing Alternately

If the power setting display flashes alternately, it indicates:

  • Cookware is not on the correct zone.
  • Cookware is unsuitable for induction.
  • Cookware is too small or not centered on the zone.

Heating will not occur without suitable cookware. The display will turn off after 1 minute if no suitable cookware is present.

When finished cooking:

  1. Touch the power level slider (3) to reduce power to "0".
  2. Be aware of hot surfaces.

Residual Heat Indicator

After switching off a zone, an "H" indicator shows the zone is hot until it cools below a critical level.

Booster Function

The Booster function provides higher power for up to 5 minutes for faster cooking. It can be used on any zone.

In lock mode, only ON/OFF (5) and Keylock (6) are active. The hob can be turned off in an emergency using ON/OFF (5), but must be unlocked for subsequent operations.

Connectivity (select models)

This function automatically adjusts the cooker hood's suction power based on the hob's cooking power.

Connection requires both the hood and hob to be prepared for it. Refer to the hood's manual for configuration details.

Safety Features

Over-Temperature Protection

A sensor monitors internal temperature. If excessive heat is detected, the hob stops automatically.

Detection of Small Articles

If small or non-magnetic items (e.g., aluminum, knife, fork, key) are left on the hob, it enters standby mode in 1 minute. The fan continues cooling for another minute.

Auto Shutdown Protection

This safety feature automatically shuts down a cooking zone if it's left on unintentionally. Default maximum working times per power level are:

Power level1-34-67-89
Default working timer (hours)36018012090

When cookware is removed, the display shows power for 5s, then "-" for 1 minute. If the surface is hot, "H" is displayed. Once cooled, "-" appears for 1 minute before the zone switches off.

Using the Timer

The timer can be used in two ways:

  • Minute Minder: The timer alerts you but does not switch off the zone.
  • Automatic Shutoff: The timer switches off a specific cooking zone after the set time.

The timer can be set up to 99 minutes. Times exceeding 99 minutes reset to 0.

Using the Timer as a Minute Minder:

  1. After selecting a zone and power level (3), a dot next to the indicator flashes for 5 seconds.
  2. When the dot stops flashing, touch the timer (1) and set the time (1-99 minutes).
  3. The countdown begins immediately. The display shows remaining time, and the dot continues flashing.
  4. A buzzer sounds, and the timer indicator turns off when time is up.

Setting the timer to turn one cooking zone off:

  1. Select the zone and set the power level (3). The dot next to the indicator flashes for 5 seconds.
  2. Before the dot stops flashing, touch the timer (1) and set the time (1-99 minutes).
  3. The timer indicator flashes for 5 seconds, and the countdown begins, showing remaining time.
  4. The indicator continues flashing to show remaining time until the timer expires.
  5. When the timer expires, the zone automatically switches off, displaying "H". Other zones continue operating.
  6. If using both timer functions, the alarm time is prioritized. Press the power level slider (3) to view the switch-off timer remaining time.

Choosing the Right Cookware

Use cookware specifically indicated as suitable for induction cooking.

  • Magnet-attracting cookware is generally suitable.
  • Stainless steel cookware with multi-layer or ferritic bases is suitable if indicated.
  • Cast iron cookware should ideally have an enamel bottom to prevent scratching.
  • Unsuitable cookware includes: glass, ceramic, earthenware, aluminum, copper, or non-magnetic (austenitic) stainless steel.
  • Use flat and thick-bottomed cookware.
  • Cookware diameter matching the cooking zone ensures maximum power usage.
  • Smaller cookware reduces power but not energy efficiency. Avoid cookware with diameters less than 10 cm.
  • Cookware bottom diameter should match the cooking zone.
  • Place cookware in the center of the zone for best efficiency.

Maintenance

Immediately remove aluminum foil, food debris, fat splashes, spilled sugar, or sugary foods using a spatula to prevent scratching the surface. Clean the surface with a suitable product and kitchen roll, rinse with water, and dry with a clean cloth. Avoid abrasive sponges, scourers, aggressive detergents, or stain removers.

Installation

Instructions for the Fitter

Installation must be performed by qualified personnel according to regulations.

The appliance is designed for worktop fitting. Apply the supplied sealant around the hob perimeter. Avoid installing directly over an oven unless the oven has adequate cooling and no warm air leaks towards the hob. Ensure suitable air inlets are present.

Selection of Installation Equipment

Cut the work surface according to the provided dimensions (F6). Maintain at least 5 cm clearance around the cutout. Work surface thickness should be at least 30mm. Ensure the hob is well-ventilated with unobstructed air inlets and outlets (F7). Stretch the supplied joint along the hob's underside edge, overlapping the ends.

Do not use adhesive to fix the hob. Place the hob into the cutout (F8) and press gently until sealed. Ensure the work surface and surrounding walls are heat-resistant. Do not install directly above dishwashers, fridges, freezers, washing machines, or dryers due to humidity. Comply with all clearance requirements and regulations.

After installation, ensure the power cable is inaccessible via cupboard doors/drawers. If installed above a drawer/cupboard, a thermal protection barrier is required. Disconnect from mains supply before any work or maintenance.

Connecting to the Mains Power Supply (F9)

Wire colour code: A) Black, B) Brown, C) Grey, D) Blue, E) Green/Yellow.

Before connecting:

  1. Verify the domestic wiring system suits the hob's power draw.
  2. Check voltage matches the rating plate.
  3. Ensure power supply cable sections can handle the specified load.
  4. Confirm an efficient earthing connection compliant with regulations is present (a legal requirement).

Do not use adapters, reducers, or branching devices, as they can cause overheating and fire. If the appliance lacks a cable/plug, use suitable material for the specified current and operating temperature; the cable temperature should not exceed ambient +50°C. Connect power supply according to standards, using a single-pole circuit breaker. The installer must ensure correct, safe electrical connections. Do not bend or compress the cable.
