Lumens Camconnect Pro & Shure MXA920 Zone Mode Setting Guide
Floor Plan
At the time of writing this guide, the firmware versions are: MXA920 = 6.5.84.0, Camconnect = V1.12.14.
The floor plan illustrates a typical meeting room setup. A rectangular table is centrally located. Cameras are positioned around the room: VC-TR60A, VC-A61P, and VC-TR60A Dante. Microphones, labeled Mic 1 and Mic 2, are placed strategically. The diagram shows defined zones for audio pickup, such as 'Mic 1 Zone 1', 'Mic 1 Zone 2', 'Mic 1 Zone 3', 'Mic 1 Zone 4', and similarly for Mic 2. The dimensions indicate a 4m spacing between certain points.
Microphone Setting
Step 1: Find MXA920 IP Address
Use Shure Designer or a Web Discovery Tool (such as Advanced IP Scanner) to find the IP address of the MXA920 microphone. The Advanced IP Scanner interface displays a list of devices, their IP addresses, names, and MAC addresses. For example, IP addresses like 192.168.5.57 and 192.168.5.58 are shown, identified as belonging to SHURE INCORPORATED.
Step 2: Configure Coverage Lobe
Turn off the 'Auto coverage' or 'lobes' feature. Instead, configure a single rectangular 'lobe' that approximates the dimensions of your room or the specific area intended for tracking. This defines the primary tracking area of interest.
Step 3: Adjust Microphone Parameters
Adjust the microphone's attenuation, sensitivity, and height according to your room's acoustics. The interface allows for setting microphone height in meters (e.g., 2.74m). Sensitivity and attenuation levels can also be adjusted within the 'IntelliMix' settings. 'Off attenuation (dB)' can be set (e.g., -40 dB), and 'Gating sensitivity' can be adjusted on a scale from Low to High.
Connection: X2 MXA920 and Camconnect
To connect two Shure MXA920 microphones with Camconnect:
- Select 'Shure:MXA920(Coordinate)' for each microphone, with one tab dedicated to each.
- Enter the Microphone's IP address.
- Select the 'Time To Trigger Preset' (this is how long a person should talk in a zone for a camera preset to be triggered).
- Hit 'Apply' to save the settings.
- Connect using the toggle button. The interface shows a 'Connect' toggle which, when active, indicates 'connected !'.
Defining Zones for Microphones
Microphone 1 Zones
In the 'Zone Mode' interface, select the microphone (e.g., Shure:MXA920(Coordinate)). The 'Mic. Zone' section allows for defining zones. When drawing zones on the grid, a red dot indicates detected voice location. Draw a zone around the detected voice and hit 'Apply' when finished. This process should be repeated for each zone. The interface displays detected voice source positions (Pos. (x,y)) and the assigned zone number.
Microphone 2 Zones
The process for defining zones for Microphone 2 is the same as for Microphone 1. The diagram shows the zones configured for Microphone 2.
Mapping Cameras and Presets to Zones
For Microphone 1 Zones
In the 'Device & Camera Mapping' section, assign a 'Primary Camera', 'Secondary Camera', 'Preset No.', and 'AI Setting' for each 'Zone No.'. For example, Zone 1 can be mapped to 'VC-TR60A(192.168.5.55)' with 'Continue Tracking' as the AI Setting. It is important to hit 'Apply' after mapping each camera and preset per zone or when making changes.
For Microphone 2 Zones
The mapping process for Microphone 2 zones is identical to that for Microphone 1. Settings are applied similarly.
Microphone 1 and 2 Confirmation
Orange LED Status
When the 'Voice Tracking' is off, the indicator shows an orange LED. This signifies that zone data is received, but no camera or preset is triggered. The Camconnect interface displays 'voice tracking is off'.
Green LED Status
When 'Voice Tracking' is ON, a green LED is indicated. This means the trigger time has been exceeded, and the corresponding camera and preset are called to the defined zone location. The Camconnect interface displays 'Voice tracking is ON'.
