1. Installing Your Network Video Recorder System
Getting Started
Before you begin installation, ensure you have the following:
- PC or TV monitor
- VGA or HDMI cable
- Router (WAN)
- Hard drive. If you purchased the system without a hard drive, you must install it first. Without a hard drive, you will not be able to record and playback video. Please refer to the hard drive installation instructions below.
Do not attempt to install your cameras until you are able to view images on your TV or PC monitor first.
Installing the Hard Drive
If your system has a pre-installed hard drive, skip this step and proceed to "Installing the NVR". If you purchased a hard drive separately, it must be formatted after installation. Refer to the FAQ section for instructions on formatting a hard drive.
- Remove the cover from the unit and the top two screws.
- Remove the cover.
- Insert the hard drive, securing it to the bottom of the unit with four screws.
- Connect the data wire and power wire as shown.
- Replace the cover and fasten the screws.
Installing the System
- Connect the NVR and cameras with the provided power adapters. Attach the antennas to the cameras and connect the mouse to the NVR. (Note: The power supply for the NVR box is 12V-2000mA).
- Connect a PC or TV monitor to the NVR using a VGA or HDMI cable. A PC or TV monitor is required; a laptop cannot be used.
- Connect the Router's LAN Port to the NVR's WAN Port using the provided Network Cable. The router must be configured for WAN (Wide Area Network).

The rear panel of the NVR features several ports:
- VGA Port: For connecting a PC monitor.
- HDMI Port: For connecting a TV monitor.

After connecting the NVR, wait approximately 2-3 minutes. The login screen will appear on your monitor. No password is required initially; click "Ok" to continue.
Network Setup
Right-click on the home screen, navigate to System setup > Network setup. Ensure the Cloud status is ONLINE and Network Status is Healthy Network. If not, select DHCP and click Enable. Click "Ok", power off the NVR box, wait a few seconds, and then power it back up.
Setting a Password
After powering up, repeat the network setup steps. Cloud status must be ONLINE and Network Status must be Healthy Network for remote viewing. To set a password, right-click on the home screen, navigate to System setup > System admin, click "User" on the left menu bar, then select "Set password" (requires 8 characters maximum). Create and confirm your new password. Remember your password.

7. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: How do I format my new hard drive and check my hard drive information?
A: From the home screen, right-click, navigate to System setup > General setup > HDD Setup. Select "Format" and click "Format" > "Ok". This screen also shows if a hard drive is pre-installed.
Q: Do I need to connect the camera with a network cable?
A: No, the cameras are wireless. They require a power supply and are pre-paired with the NVR. They connect automatically once powered. Do not install cameras until you can view images on your TV or PC monitor.
Q: How can I troubleshoot camera issues?
A: First, test the power adapter. If it works, move the camera closer to the NVR. If there's still no video, cover the photocell with your finger. If the IR-CUT light turns red, the camera is working. If not, it may be malfunctioning; contact customer support.
Q: How can I get motion notifications on my Smartphone?
A: Ensure Cloud ID is ONLINE and Network Status is Healthy Network (Section 2). From the home screen, right-click, navigate to System setup > Channel Setup > Video detection. Enable Motion Detection, Alarm, E-mail Notice, and APP Alarm. Click "Ok".
After setting up preferred channels, repeat the process for remaining channels. Use "Copy to" to apply settings to all cameras or specific ones. Sensitivity can be adjusted anytime.
Q: How can I receive email notifications for motion detection?
A: Follow the steps for smartphone motion notifications. You need an email account (e.g., Hotmail, Gmail). Log into your webmail, go to Settings > Connected accounts > POP and IMAP, select "Yes" for POP and "Don't" for IMAP, then Save.
Configure email settings in the NVR: Navigate to System Setup > Network setup > Email. Enable the function. Enter SMTP Server (e.g., smtp-mail.outlook.com), Port (e.g., 587), your email address as Username and Sender, and your email password. Set Encryption Type to SSL. Enter the receiver's email address (must be different from the sender). If using Gmail/Yahoo, find their specific SMTP server and port.
Click "Test" until "Test success" appears. Save settings by clicking "Ok". To test, walk past a camera; you should receive an email notification within 2-3 minutes.
Q: How do I stop the Email notification?
A: From the home screen, right-click, navigate to System Setup > Channel Setup > Video detection. Deselect "Email Notice" and click "Ok". Then, use "Copy to" to apply this setting to all or specific channels to deactivate email alarms.
Q: How do I use a USB to Back-up my data?
A: Ensure you have recorded video. From the home screen, navigate to Video backup. Select channels and a time frame, then click "Search" then "Backup". Insert USB storage when prompted and wait for the backup to complete.
Q: How do I add a new camera? What should I do when there is no camera display on the screen?
A: To add a camera, connect it to power, then connect the NVR to the camera with a network cable, ensuring both are on the same router. From the home screen, right-click, navigate to Video Manage, click "Refresh" to find the camera's IP address. Navigate to IP address, click "Match Code". The camera should connect. Once connected, the network cable between camera and NVR is no longer needed. Reconnect the NVR to the router via network cable.
Q: How can I strengthen the wireless signal?
A: Adjust the direction of the antennas. The diagram shows optimal antenna positioning for a "Best wireless signal" versus a "Worst wireless signal".
Q: How do I adjust the Date and Time?
A: Method 1: Verify a healthy network connection (System setup > Network Setup, check Network Status). In the same window, select General setup > Time setup. Enable "Sync now" and click "Ok".
Method 2: Navigate to System Setup > General setup & Time setup. Unselect "Enable", then select the correct System Date & System Time and click "Apply", then "Ok".
Q: What is the best temperature for the cameras to operate at their optimum level?
A: Cameras operate best in ambient temperatures ranging from -50 degrees Fahrenheit to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.
Q: How do I restore my unit to the Factory Settings?
A: Right-click on the home screen, navigate to System setup > System admin > Factory setting, click "all", then "Ok". Then, right-click, navigate to Video manage, click "Refresh", then "Auto add". All videos should appear on the monitor.
Q: My system does not recognize that I have a hard drive installed, how to find it?
A: Confirm the NVR power adapter is 12V-2000mA. Right-click on the home screen, navigate to System setup > General setup > HDD setup. Verify HDD information. If none appears, open the NVR box and check if the hard drive cable is loose; reconnect it.
Q: How do I reset the NVR login password?
A: To protect privacy, send an email to overseas@hiseeu.com with the subject "Request Password Reset".
Q: What's the meaning of IRON on the TV/PC monitor?
A: The table below explains the indicators:
Picture | IRON | Location | Meaning |
---|---|---|---|
? | Green bar | Top Right Corner | Wireless Signal |
? | Red dot | Top Right Corner | Recording |
⚠️ | Red Triangle | Bottom Left Screen | Alarm |
? | Little Yellow man | Top Right Corner | Motion Detection |
Q: I connected the system, why is nothing showing on my monitor?
A: The default NVR output resolution (1280*1024) might not be compatible with your monitor. Try these options:
- Connect the PC/TV monitor to the NVR using a VGA cable first. Ensure the monitor's input is set to VGA. If no VGA cable is available, try another monitor with an HDMI cable. For TVs, remember to change the input to HDMI.
- Once video is displayed on another monitor, right-click, navigate to System setup > General setup & Screen setup, and adjust the VGA resolution to 1024x768. Click "OK". Then, reconnect to the original TV monitor.
