Choosing the Right Cook Function
The Ninja Foodi XL offers multiple cooking methods to suit your needs:
- Pressure Cook: Ideal for tenderizing large proteins, cooking soups, and stews.
- Steam & Crisp: Achieve juicy and crispy results simultaneously, perfect for whole roasts and multi-tiered meals.
- Air Fry: Delivers crispy textures with little to no oil, excellent for frozen foods like fries and nuggets.
SmartLid Operation
The SmartLid slider has three positions, each controlling a different set of functions:
- Pressure Mode: Locks the lid for pressure cooking.
- SteamCrisp Mode: Enables simultaneous steam and convection cooking.
- Air Fry/Stovetop Mode: Allows for convection and stovetop cooking.
Always use the designated lift tab to open and close the lid. Never attempt to open the lid from the side, as this may cause burns.
Helpful Cooking Tips
- Always use the exact amount of liquid specified in recipes, even when adjusting ingredient quantities.
- When using SteamCrisp functions, ensure liquid is always added to the pot.
- For pressure cooking, a minimum of 1 cup of liquid is required, up to 3 cups depending on the recipe. Broths or sauces can be used instead of water for added flavor.
- To convert oven recipes, use the Bake/Roast function and reduce the temperature by 25°F.
- After pressure cooking, empty any remaining liquid from the pot for optimal crisping results.
- Ensure the silicone ring is properly installed and clean for the unit to come to pressure.
- The pressure release valve should be in the SEAL position for pressure cooking.
