Outdoor Sensor Placement
The sensor must be placed outdoors to monitor external conditions. It is water-resistant (IP4) and designed for general outdoor use. To prevent damage, place the sensor in a location protected from direct weather elements and sunlight. The ideal location is 4 to 8 feet above the ground, in permanent shade, with good air circulation.
Outdoor Sensor Function
After setup and channel synchronization, the display unit will begin registration, which may take up to 3 minutes to establish an RF signal with the outdoor sensor. The outdoor sensor signal strength indicator (3) shows the connection strength. If there are no bars or the maximum strength (4 bars) is not shown, try repositioning the sensor or display unit.
If the RF signal is lost and not reconnected, the outdoor temperature and humidity will flash after 1 hour. After 2 hours without a connection, a dotted line '--' will appear instead of the readings.
To manually restart RF registration, press and hold the "CH" button for 3 seconds. The display unit will search for the RF signal for the next 3 minutes.
Troubleshooting
Problem: Outdoor reading is flashing or showing dashes '--'
- Possible Solution:
- Wireless Interference: The flashing reading often indicates wireless interference. This thermometer can communicate with three external sensors (one included, two optional).
- Sensor Setup:
- Bring both the sensor and display unit indoors, side-by-side. Remove batteries from both. Power the unit as described in "Getting Started".
- Set the channel selector on the outdoor sensor to the desired transmission channel (1, 2, or 3).
- Press the "CH" button on the display unit to select the matching channel (1, 2, or 3, or sequential display).
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Reload batteries in both the outdoor sensor and main unit.
- Press and hold the "CH" button to receive the RF signal.
- Ensure the channel selected on the display unit matches the channel on the outdoor sensor.
- Relocate the main unit and/or outdoor sensor. They must be within 200ft (60m) of each other.
- Place both units at least 3ft (1m) away from electronics that may cause interference (TV, microwave, computer, radio, etc.).
- Do not use heavy-duty or rechargeable batteries. Use lithium batteries for the outdoor sensor in cold temperatures.
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Ensure both the main unit and sensor are placed out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources or vents.
- Do not tamper with internal components.
- Temperature Accuracy:
- -40°C to -20°C: ±4°C
- -20°C to 0°C: ±2°C
- 0°C to 50°C: ±1°C
If the temperature is outside the detection range, HH (high) or LL (low) will display.
If the product does not operate properly after trying these steps, contact the seller or email support@geevon.com.
Setting the Temperature Units
- The default temperature unit is Fahrenheit (°F [US]) or Celsius (°C [EU]).
- To switch units, press and hold the SET button until the 12/24 hour mode flashes.
- Press SET 8 more times to cycle through settings until °F/°C flashes.
- Press UP or DOWN to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
- Press SET to confirm and exit.
Checking the MAX/MIN Temperature and Humidity
- Press the "DOWN" button to view MAX/MIN temperature and humidity.
- Press and hold the "DOWN" button while viewing MAX/MIN to clear the records.
Setting the Channel
To set the channel connection between the display unit and the outdoor sensor:
- Press the "CH" button on the display unit to cycle through channels 1, 2, 3, and sequential display (1-3). The selected channel appears above the outdoor temperature.
- Open the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor and move the switch to select the desired channel.
- Crucially, ensure the channel chosen on the display unit matches the channel selected on the outdoor sensor.
Back Light
- When powered by battery only, the backlight turns off automatically to conserve power. Press the SNZ/LIGHT button for a 10-second backlight.
- When powered by the USB line, the backlight remains on. Press the SNZ/LIGHT button to adjust brightness between HIGH, LOW, or OFF.
Low Battery Indicator
If the low battery indicator appears on the LCD for either the outdoor sensor or the display unit, replace the batteries immediately to ensure continuous operation.
Weather Forecast
The unit predicts weather conditions for the next 12-24 hours based on temperature and humidity changes. The forecast icons are:
- Sunny ☀️
- Partly sunny ?️
- Cloudy ☁️
- Rainy ?️
- Snowy ?️
Note:
- The weather forecast is approximately 40-45% accurate and relies on outdoor temperature and humidity changes (Channel 1). If the signal is lost, it uses indoor data.
- Accuracy is best under natural ventilation. Indoor or air-conditioned environments may yield less accurate forecasts.
Moon Phase
The display shows moon phases: ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
Week Display
The unit displays the day of the week in multiple languages:
English | German | French | Italian | Dutch | Spanish | Danish |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
MON | MON | LUN | LUN | MAA | LUN | MAN |
TUE | DIE | MAR | MAR | DIN | MAR | TIR |
WED | MIT | MER | MER | WOE | MIE | ONS |
THU | DON | JEU | GIO | DON | JUE | TOR |
FRI | FRE | VEN | VEN | VRI | VIE | FRE |
SAT | SAM | SAM | SAD | ZAT | SAM | LOR |
SUN | SON | DIM | DOM | ZON | DOM | SON |
Important Placement Guidelines
- To ensure accurate temperature readings, place units out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources or vents.
- The display unit and outdoor sensor must be within 200ft (60m) of each other.
- To maximize wireless range, keep units away from large metallic items, thick walls, metal surfaces, or other objects that can obstruct wireless communication.
- To prevent wireless interference, place both units at least 3ft (1m) away from electronic devices like TVs, computers, microwaves, and radios.
- Place the display unit in a dry, dust-free area. It can be used upright on a tabletop or countertop.
