Epilation Guide
Epilation Tips
- If you are new to epilation or haven't epilated in a long time, your skin may need a short adaptation period. Discomfort will decrease with repeated use. Epilate once a week during the first month.
- For the first epilation, it's advisable to do it in the evening so any redness can disappear overnight. Apply a moisturizing cream afterwards.
- Epilation is easier and more comfortable when hair is 2 to 5 mm (0.02 – 0.2 in) long. For longer hair, shave first and epilate regrowth after 3-5 days.
- Fine, re-growing hairs may not reach the surface. Regular exfoliation (e.g., with a scrub or massage sponge) helps prevent ingrown hairs by removing dead skin cells.
Dry/Wet Usage
- For dry use, skin must be free from grease or cream.
- The appliance can be used on wet skin, even under running water ?. Ensure skin is well wetted. A shower gel can be used for better gliding.
How to Epilate (See Section A)
Diagram A shows the epilation process:
- 1. Image of the Braun Silk-épil 7 epilator.
- 2. A hand pressing the release button to detach the epilation head.
- 3. The epilator is held at a 90° angle to the skin, moving against hair growth.
- 4. Proper positioning of the epilator at a 90° angle to the leg.
- 5. A hand performing epilation on a leg.
- 6. Steps illustrating detachment of the epilation head, cleaning with a brush, and rinsing.
- 7. The epilation head being rinsed under running water.
Always stretch your skin while epilating. Hold the appliance at a 90° angle and guide it slowly against hair growth. The skin contact cap (7) ensures close contact. The massage cap (1) can be used for added comfort.
Leg Epilation:
Epilate legs upwards. Stretch the leg when epilating behind the knee.
Underarm & Bikini Line Epilation:
These areas are sensitive. Start with speed 1. Pain sensation diminishes with repeated use. Clean the area thoroughly before epilating. For underarms, raise the arm and move the appliance in multiple directions to catch all hair growth.
Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures hygiene and performance. Remove the cap (1 or 7) before cleaning.
- Cleaning with the brush: Thoroughly clean the tweezers element.
- Cleaning under running water: After wet use, rinse the epilation head under running water. Turn the epilator on for a few seconds during rinsing. Remove the head and let it dry completely before reattaching.
General Information on Epilation
Root hair removal can cause ingrown hairs and irritation. This is normal and should subside. If irritation persists after 36 hours, consult a physician. Inflammation can occur if bacteria penetrate the skin; thorough cleaning minimizes infection risk. Consult a physician for specific skin conditions (eczema, wounds, etc.).
Shaving Guide (See Section B)
The shaver head (8) is designed for a fast shave and contour trimming on legs, underarms, and bikini line, and cutting hair to 5 mm. Use only on dry skin at speed 2. Do not shave with a damaged foil.
Diagram B illustrates shaving functions:
- a. Shaving: Select the shaving setting (e.g., ∂).
- b. Contour trimming: Select the contour trimming setting (e.g., 8).
- c. Cutting hair to 5 mm: Select the trimming setting (e.g., 8) and attach the trimmer cap (I).
- d. Cleaning the Shaver Foil: Tap the shaver foil (II) on a flat surface. Do not use a brush, as it may damage the foil.
- e. Lubrication: Shaving parts need lubrication every 3 months.
- f. Maintenance: Replace the foil frame (II) and cutter block (III) when shaving performance decreases.
Subject to change without notice.
