AROYA SOLUS Quick Start Guide

Model: TEROS 12 Sensor, ZSC, SOLUS App (Document ID: 18431-02)

Introduction

The AROYA SOLUS system features the wireless TEROS 12 sensor, a high-accuracy device for measuring water content (WC), soil temperature (T), and electrical conductivity (EC) in various growing media. The sensor measures WC from 0% to 100%, temperature from -40°C to +60°C, and EC from 0 to 20 dS/m. Sensor readings are accessible via the SOLUS mobile application on a smartphone or tablet.

Preparation

Ensure all SOLUS components are present and undamaged. Your mobile device must support Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE). Compatibility requires Apple iOS 10 or later, or Android OS 4.3 or later. Note: Location services must be enabled on Android devices to utilize Bluetooth capabilities.

SOLUS by AROYA App Setup

Download the latest version of the SOLUS by AROYA app from your device's app store prior to connecting to the sensor.

  1. Open your mobile device's app store or scan the provided QR code to access the SOLUS app website.
  2. Download the SOLUS app.
  3. Open the SOLUS app.
  4. On the opening screen, select the "Registration" link.
  5. Enter the required information on the Registration screen and tap the "REGISTER" button.
  6. Log in to the SOLUS app to begin installation and take readings. A subscription is not required for basic use.

Installation

  1. Turn on the ZSC

Install the included AA batteries into the ZSC. Connect the M8-to-stereo adapter cable to the TEROS 12 sensor. Connect the stereo end of the cable to the ZSC. Press the button on the ZSC; the LED indicator should begin blinking blue, signaling it is ready.

  2. Connect to the ZSC

Open the SOLUS app on your mobile device. When the ZSC appears on the "Connect" screen, select it to establish a connection.

  3. Plug In Sensor

Use the AROYA Sensor Alignment Tool to insert the TEROS 12 sensor into the growing substrate. The tool is designed for precise placement in various container sizes:

    • 4-7 Gal O.T. Bag (Tall & Narrow): Insert to a depth of 3.5 inches.
    • 4-7 Gal O.T. Bag (Standard): Insert to a depth of 2.75 inches.
    • 2-3 Gal O.T. Bag: Insert to a depth of 2.0 inches.
    • Slabs, 3-6" Blocks, and 1 Gal O.T. Bag: Insert to a depth of 1.25 inches.
  4. View Sensor Readings

In the SOLUS app, you can view spot readings for water content (WC), temperature (T), and electrical conductivity (EC). Tap the "Take Reading" button to refresh the measurements.

System Overview

The AROYA SOLUS system, developed by METER, provides comprehensive insights into substrate conditions. While sensor readings offer valuable data points, they are part of a larger picture that includes numerous other factors influencing crop quality and yield. The AROYA family of sensors and cultivation analysis tools is continually evolving to offer more complete solutions. For more information, visit aroya.io.
