Installation Guidelines
This section provides hardware installation guidelines for safely installing the Switch in the appropriate environment.
- Visually inspect the power adaptor and ensure it is fully secured to the Switch's power connector and the electrical outlet.
- Install the Switch in a cool, dry place within acceptable operating temperature and humidity ranges.
- Install the Switch in a site free from strong electromagnetic field generators, motors, vibration, dust, and direct sunlight.
Installing the Switch without a Rack
Install the Switch on a sturdy, level surface that can support its weight. Do not place heavy objects on the Switch. Ensure proper heat dissipation and adequate ventilation. Leave at least 10 cm (4 inches) of space at the front, sides, and rear for ventilation.
Installing the Switch in a Rack
Mount the Switch in a rack using the provided mounting brackets. Fasten the brackets to the sides of the Switch using the screws provided.
Diagram Description: Figure 1 shows how to attach rack-mount brackets to the sides of the switch. Figure 2 illustrates the switch being installed and secured in a server rack.
Operating Environment: The switch is designed for operation in dry, clean, dust-free, and well-ventilated areas, away from heat sources, high humidity, or direct sunlight. Recommended operating temperature is 0 to +40°C. Ensure ventilation openings are unobstructed.
Installing Transceivers into the Transceiver Ports
The Switch features Enhanced Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP+) ports for connecting networking devices that do not support standard RJ-45 connections. These ports are typically used for optical fiber connections, enabling communication over great distances (up to several kilometers), whereas RJ-45 connections are limited to 100 meters.
Diagram Description: Figure 3 shows a close-up of the switch's front panel, highlighting the SFP+ ports and demonstrating how to insert a transceiver.
Powering and Management
Power On (DC Power)
Plug the DC power adaptor into the switch's power socket and the local power source outlet.
Power Failure (DC Power)
In case of a power failure, unplug the power adaptor as a precaution. After power is restored, plug the adaptor back into the switch.
Management Options
The Switch can be managed via multiple platforms: Command Line Interface (CLI), SNMP-based Management, and Web User Interface (Web UI).
Command Line Interface (CLI)
Management can be done via Telnet connection to any of the LAN ports.
SNMP-based Management
Use an SNMP-compatible console program. The switch supports SNMP v1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3.
Web User Interface (Web UI)
The Web UI offers a graphical interface for configuration and management, accessible from any computer with web browsing software.
Logging into the Web UI
Supported Web browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or above, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge.
To access the Web UI, open a web browser, enter the switch's IP address (default: 10.90.90.90 with subnet mask 255.0.0.0 for LAN ports), and press ENTER. Use default credentials: User Name 'admin', Password 'admin'. Click Login.
Diagram Description: Figure 4 shows the Web UI login window with fields for User Name, Password, Language selection, and Login/Reset buttons.
