DMX Decoder for LED DMX Controllers
24 Channel, 3A
Parts Included
- 1 - DMX Decoder
Overview
The DMX-24CH-LV Decoder converts the universal standard DMX512 signal into a PWM signal to drive LED products. This compact decoder works with a DMX512 Console, offering 256 levels of grayscale output per channel. It features a standard XLR-3 and green terminal interface, and can control single color, two-color, RGB, or RGBW LED lights.
Product Image Description: The image shows two DMX decoder units. The top unit is a black rectangular box with several ports and DIP switches on the front. The bottom unit is a longer, black rectangular box with multiple ports and DIP switches visible on the front and top.

Setup
The decoder accepts DMX512 signal only when the DIP switch is set to FUN=OFF, as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1 Description: A diagram showing DIP switches 1 through 10. The switches are labeled with corresponding numerical values (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256) and a 'FUN' switch. The diagram illustrates how to set the DMX address by summing the values of the switches set to the 'ON' (down) position. The 'FUN' switch is labeled 'OFF' in this configuration.
DMX Address Setting: The DMX512 initial address code is the total sum of the DIP switches numbered from 1 to 9. Placing a DIP switch in the DOWN position sets its value to ON. Placing it in the UP position sets its value to OFF.
Example 1: Set initial address to 37.
As shown in Figure 2, set DIP switches 6, 3, and 1 to the DOWN position ('1'), and the rest to the UP position ('0'). The total sum is 32 + 4 + 1 = 37. When FUN=OFF, the decoder operates in DMX controlling mode. When FUN=ON, the decoder enters self-test mode.
Figure 2 Description: A diagram similar to Figure 1, showing DIP switches 1 through 10 and the 'FUN' switch. In this example, DIP switches 1, 3, and 6 are shown in the DOWN position (ON), and the remaining switches (2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10) are in the UP position (OFF). The 'FUN' switch is shown in the 'OFF' position.
Example 2: Set initial address to 328.
As shown in Figure 3, set DIP switches 4, 7, and 9 to the DOWN position ('1'), and the rest to the UP position ('0'). The summation is 8 + 64 + 256 = 328. The DMX512 original address code is 328.
Figure 3 Description: A diagram similar to Figure 1 and 2. In this example, DIP switches 4, 7, and 9 are shown in the DOWN position (ON), and the remaining switches (1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10) are in the UP position (OFF). The 'FUN' switch is shown in the 'OFF' position.
Testing Function
When FUN=ON, the decoder enters self-test mode. The colors cycle through Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Cyan, White, Jump, and Gradual.
Figure 4 Description: A diagram showing DIP switches 1 through 10 and the 'FUN' switch. The 'FUN' switch is set to 'ON'. DIP switches 1 through 8 are labeled with colors: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Cyan, White, and Jump. DIP switch 9 is labeled 'Gradual'. DIP switch 10 is shown in the 'OFF' position.
Speed Control: DIP switches 1 through 7 control the speed levels. DIP switch 7 represents the fastest level, while DIP switches 1-7 being OFF sets the speed to 0.
Figure 5 Description: A diagram showing DIP switches 1 through 10. DIP switches 1 through 7 are labeled 'Speed 1' through 'Speed 7'. All DIP switches from 1 to 10 are shown in the 'ON' position. This configuration selects the color changing mode with a speed level of 7.
Product Dimensions
Image Description: A diagram showing the physical dimensions of the DMX-24CH-LV decoder. The dimensions are indicated as 1.57in (40mm) in height, 4.72in (120mm) in width, and 10.24in (260mm) in length.
Connection Diagrams
Connection Diagram for DMX signal
Image Description: This diagram illustrates the DMX signal connection. It shows three DMX decoder units connected in series. DMX OUT from one unit connects to DMX IN on the next. The first unit receives DMX IN from a DMX controller or terminator. The last unit's DMX OUT is shown leading to a 'To DMX Controller' or terminator.
Connection Diagram for LED lights
Image Description: This diagram shows how to connect LED lights to the DMX decoder. The DMX decoder has DMX IN and DMX OUT ports. The LED lights are connected to the 'Output Port' terminals on the decoder, labeled for Red (R), Green (G), Blue (B), and potentially a common positive (+) terminal. Multiple LED strips or modules can be connected in parallel to the output terminals.
