Safety Instructions
Electrical equipment may only be installed and assembled by a qualified electrician in accordance with the relevant installation standards, regulations, directives, and safety and accident prevention directives of the country. Failure to comply with these installation instructions may result in damage to the device, fire, or other hazards.
Functional Description
This document describes the Hager EHN110, EHN111, and EHN171 analogue time switches. These are 1-channel devices offering daily (EHN11x) or weekly (EHN171) programming.
Correct Use: Suitable for lighting, ventilators, fountains, advertising, etc., in closed, dry rooms. Mounting is on a DIN rail TH 35 - 7.5 (according to DIN EN 60715). Switching of any exterior conductor is permitted; switching of SELV is not permitted.
Design and Layout (Figure 01)
The device features:
- 1. Switching Status Display: Indicates 0 (OFF) or 1 (ON).
- 2. Switching Disk: Used to display and set switching times.
- 3. Switching Segments: Each segment represents 15 minutes (for EHN171, segments also represent 2 hours).
- 4. Clock Face: Displays the current time.
- 5. Mode Switch: Selects operating mode: = Auto, 1 = Continuous ON, 0 = Continuous OFF.
- 6. Hands: Indicate the hour and minute.
Diagram shows the physical layout of the time switch with numbered components.
Installation and Electrical Connection
Warning! Electrical shock hazard when live parts are touched. Contact with live parts can be fatal.
- Isolate all power before working on the device and cover any live parts in the area.
- Snap the device onto the DIN rail (as shown in Figure 02).
- Connect according to the wiring diagram (Figure 03).
- Switch the miniature circuit breaker back on.
Figure 02 shows the device being attached to a DIN rail. Figure 03 illustrates the wiring connections for Line (L), Neutral (N), and the output terminals.
Information
When voltage is applied, the quartz movement starts after a few minutes (EHN171). The full power reserve is achieved after 5 days (EHN111, EHN171).
Settings
- Setting the Current Time: Turn the minute hand (6) left or right (Figure 05).
- Setting the Current Weekday (EHN171 only): Turn the switching disk (2) clockwise until the correct number indicates the day of the week (Figure 06).
- Defining Switching Times: Press the switching segments (3) to the left for ON or to the right for OFF (Figure 07).
Display of Switching State (Figure 08): The knob (1) rotates automatically, showing the state of the connected circuit: 1 (ON) or 0 (OFF).
Selecting Operating Mode (Figure 09): Use the switch (5) to select = Auto, 1 (Continuous ON), or 0 (Continuous OFF).
Figure 04 shows the clock face for setting the time. Figure 05 illustrates turning the minute hand. Figure 06 shows setting the day of the week. Figure 07 depicts setting the ON/OFF segments. Figure 08 shows the status display knob. Figure 09 illustrates the mode selection switch.
