HALO Remote User Guide

01 BACKFIRE Remote Layout

The Backfire Halo Remote features a comprehensive layout designed for intuitive control of your electric skateboard.

Throttle Wheel: Used for Acceleration, Braking, Preview, and Navigation.

Power Button: Powers the remote ON/OFF, and is used for Menu navigation and selection.

Turbo Button: Activates Turbo Mode, Tank Turn Mode, and accesses the Main Menu.

S/E Button: Switches between Sport Mode, Eco Mode, and accesses the Previous Menu.

Fingerprint Sensor: Enables secure and quick unlocking of the remote.

Forward/Reverse Toggle: Allows switching between forward and reverse motion.

Type-C Charging Port: For charging the remote.

04 BACKFIRE Pairing Instructions

Powering ON/OFF: Hold the Power Button for 3 seconds.

Pairing: With both the remote and board in the OFF state, hold the Power Button on both simultaneously for 3 seconds to pair.

4WD Configuration: The rear controller (ESC1) must be paired before the front controller (ESC2).

Pairing Process:

  1. Auto-Pairing: The remote searches for the board's ESC.
  2. Select 2WD/4WD: Choose the drivetrain configuration. (2WD requires pairing only one ESC).
  3. ESC Pairing: Hold the Power Button on ESC1 for 3 seconds, then on ESC2 for 3 seconds.
  4. Unit Selection: Choose between KM and MILES using the Throttle Wheel and confirm with the Power Button.
  5. Motor Type: Select the drivetrain setup (Belt or Hub).
  6. Wheel Size: Select the wheel size (e.g., 90MM-200MM).
  7. Gear Ratio: Select the gear ratio for the drivetrain.
  8. Pole Pairs: Select the number of pole pairs for the motor configuration (2-26).
  9. Complete: Pairing and configuration are complete.

Note: The remote and skateboard are pre-paired at the factory.

05 BACKFIRE Ride Modes

The Halo Remote supports multiple ride modes:

Cruise Control Mode: While riding, press and release the Throttle Wheel after pressing the Power Button to engage Cruise Control.

06 BACKFIRE Battery Status

While the board is stationary, press the Power Button once to access the settings menu:

Battery Health Indicators:

If battery cells are unbalanced, contact Backfire Support or use the Backfire Balance Charger.

11 BACKFIRE Tank Turn Mode

Engage Tank Turn Mode by pressing the Turbo Button twice. Press the Power Button once to disengage.

Warning: Exercise caution and keep clear of the board when Tank Turn Mode is active, as standing on it may cause serious injury.

12 BACKFIRE Rider Controls

For beginners and children, Backfire recommends wearing protective gear and starting with ECO Mode.

Ensure your feet are slightly wider than shoulder-width apart and bend your knees to lower your center of gravity for stability.

13 BACKFIRE Malfunctions

The remote may display various error messages:
