The Kärcher K 2 Classic is a high-pressure cleaner designed for various cleaning tasks. This manual provides essential information for its setup, operation, and maintenance.

Device Description

Components:

- 7. Mains cable with mains plug
- 8. High-pressure spray gun
- 9. Locking for the high-pressure spray gun
- 10. Clip for the high-pressure hose
- 11. High-pressure hose
- 12. Jet pipe with high-pressure nozzle (For standard cleaning tasks)
- **13. Reinforced water hose with standard coupling (Minimum diameter 1/2 inch (13 mm), minimum length 7.5 m)
Installation
Before starting operation, install any loose parts. Refer to the diagrams on page 2.
Figure A: Connect the coupling part for the water connection to the device's water supply connection.
Figure B: Pull the clip for the high-pressure hose out of the high-pressure spray gun.
Figure C: Insert the high-pressure hose into the high-pressure spray gun. Push the clip until it locks into place. Check the connection by pulling on the high-pressure hose.
Commissioning
Place the device on a level surface.
Figure D: Connect the high-pressure hose to the high-pressure connection.
Insert the mains plug into the socket.
Water Supply from the Tap
Power: See the rating plate / in the Technical Data.
Follow the recommendations of the water supply company.
CAUTION: Water contamination can damage the high-pressure pump and accessories. For protection, Kärcher recommends using a water filter (special accessory, order no. 4.730-059).
Figure E: Insert the water supply hose into the coupling of the corresponding connection.
Connect the water hose to the tap.
Fully open the water tap.
Operation
CAUTION: Dry running for more than 2 minutes will cause damage to the high-pressure pump. If the device does not build up pressure within 2 minutes, switch it off and follow the instructions in the "Troubleshooting" chapter.
High-Pressure Operation
CAUTION: To prevent damage during cleaning, maintain a distance of at least 30 cm from lacquered surfaces.
Figure F: Attach the spray lance to the high-pressure spray gun and secure it by turning it 90°.
Switch on the device "I/ON".
Unlock the lever on the high-pressure spray gun.
Pull the lever; the device will switch on.
Note: If the lever is released again, the device will switch off. High pressure remains in the system.
Interrupting Operation
Release the lever on the spray gun.
Lock the lever on the high-pressure spray gun.
For longer breaks (more than 5 minutes), switch off the device "0/OFF".
Finishing Work
CAUTION: Disconnect the high-pressure hose from the spray gun or device only when the system is depressurized.
After working with detergent: To rinse, let the device run for approximately 1 minute.
Release the lever on the spray gun.
Switch off the device "0/OFF".
Pull the mains plug from the socket.
Close the water tap.
Press the spray gun lever to reduce system pressure.
Lock the lever on the high-pressure spray gun.
Disconnect the device from the water supply.
Transport
CAUTION: Risk of injury and damage! Pay attention to the weight of the device during transport.
Manual Transport
Lift the device by the handle and carry it.
Transport by Vehicle
Secure the device against sliding and tipping.
Storage
CAUTION: Risk of injury and damage! Consider the weight of the device during storage.
Storing the Device
Before long-term storage, e.g. in winter, also pay attention to the instructions in the "Care" section.
Place the device on a level surface.
Secure the spray lance in its holder.
Store the mains cable and other accessories in the device.
Frost Protection
CAUTION: Devices and accessories that are not completely emptied can be damaged by frost. Completely empty the device and accessories, and protect them from frost.
To avoid damage:
Empty all water from the device. Start the device without the high-pressure hose connected and without water supply (for a maximum of 1 minute) and wait until water stops flowing from the high-pressure hose. Switch off the device.
Store the device and all accessories in a heated room.
Care and Maintenance
DANGER: Risk of electric shock. Before carrying out any maintenance work, switch off the device and pull the mains plug from the socket.
Cleaning the Water Inlet Filter
Clean the filter in the water inlet regularly.
Remove the coupling from the water hose.
CAUTION: Do not damage the filter.
Figure C: Pull out the filter with pliers.
Wash the filter under running water.
Reinsert the filter into the water inlet.
Troubleshooting
Minor faults can be rectified by yourself using the following overview. In case of doubt, please contact customer service.
DANGER: Risk of electric shock. Before carrying out any maintenance work, switch off the device and pull the mains plug from the socket.
Device Does Not Work
Release the lever on the high-pressure spray gun; the device will switch off.
Check if the voltage matches the information on the rating plate and the power source.
Check the mains cable for damage.
Appliance Does Not Start, Motor Hums
Voltage drop due to a weak power grid or use of an extension cord.
When switching off, first release the lever on the high-pressure spray gun, then set the device switch to "I/ON" or "eco" mode.
Device Does Not Work Under Pressure
Check if the water supply is sufficient.
Remove the mains filter from the water supply connection using pliers and rinse it under running water.
Bleeding the device: Switch on the device without the high-pressure hose connected and wait (max. 2 minutes) until water emerges from the high-pressure hose without air bubbles. Switch off the device and reconnect the high-pressure hose.
Large Pressure Fluctuations
Clean the high-pressure nozzle: Use a needle to remove dirt from the nozzle opening and rinse with water.
Check the water supply volume.
Appliance Not Watertight
Slight leaks in the appliance are due to the technical design. For significant leaks, contact authorized service personnel.
