- Setting the Moon Phase
- Setting the Month
- Setting the Date
C) Setting the Day and Time (Hour, Minute, and Second)
The hour, minute, second, and day are set using the same crown operation.
Setting Procedure
The setting sequence is:
[DAY] ➡️ [HOUR] ➡️ [MINUTE] ➡️ [SECOND]
C-1) Setting the Day
Pull the crown out to the 2nd position to stop the second hand at 0 (12 o'clock). Turn the hour/minute hands clockwise [↪️] to set the day. Advance the hour hand by 24 hours to set the day.
NOTE:
- Setting the day by turning the crown counterclockwise [↩️] may prevent the date from changing correctly. Avoid this method.
- The day typically changes between 0:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.
C-2) Setting the Time
After setting the day, set the hour (including 24-hour format) and minute hands. Turn the hour/minute hands clockwise [↪️] to set the time. For precise time setting, advance the minute hand 5 minutes past the desired time, then turn back counterclockwise [↩️] to the exact time. Push the crown back to the normal position to restart the second hand, synchronizing with a time signal.
NOTE: Ensure AM/PM is set correctly before setting the time.
Day changes indicate a.m. (between 0:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.).
D) Setting and Reading the Age of the Moon
The moon phase display shows the moon's age, not its visual appearance. Use this display as a guide for setting and understanding the moon's age and phase.
D-1) Setting the Age of the Moon
Pull the crown out to the 1st position. Turn the crown clockwise [↪️] to advance the moon phase.
D-2) Setting the Age of the Moon with Age Scale
Consult a reliable source (e.g., newspaper) for the current day's moon age. If using tomorrow's data, subtract one day before setting. Example Procedure (Moon Age: 4.4): Pull the crown out to the 1st position. Turn the moon disc clockwise [↪️] until the moon's center aligns with 4.4 on the scale.
[Textual description of moon age scale: A curved scale with markings for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and approximately 29.5 days.]
D-3) Setting the Age of the Moon Without the Age Scale
Refer to a source listing the current moon age or phase. Set the moon phase to the closest age value (0, 7, 15, or 22). Optimal setting accuracy is achieved during the new moon (age 0) or full moon (age 15).
THE AGE OF THE MOON
The moon's age is measured in days. The cycle from one new moon to the next averages about 29.5 days.
D-4) Reading the Age of the Moon
Moon Phase | Moon's Age | Tide Type |
---|---|---|
New moon | 0 | Spring tide |
First quarter moon | 7 | Neap tide |
Full moon | 15 | Spring tide |
Last quarter moon | 22 | Neap tide |
[Description of visual representations: Images depicting the New Moon, First Quarter Moon, Full Moon, and Last Quarter Moon phases.]
NOTE:
- The moon phase display can indicate the approximate tide size.
- For precise moon phase settings, it is recommended to set the watch during a New Moon (moon hidden) or Full Moon (moon fully visible).
E) Setting the Month (By Quick Operation)
Pressing the month-adjustment button advances the month by one. Ensure a firm press on the button for month changes.
NOTE:
- Do not set the month when the date hand is between the 26th and 31st. Adjust the date hand out of this range first. (Attempting to set the month during this period may result in incorrect advancement.)
- The month and date are synchronized. For short months (under 31 days), the month automatically adjusts correctly when the date is set.
The month hand begins its transition to the next month around midnight of the 30th day, completing the change by midnight of the 31st.
F) Setting the Date (By Quick Operation)
Pull the crown out to the 1st position. Turn the crown counterclockwise [↩️] to quickly set the date.
NOTE:
- Avoid setting the date between 9:00 p.m. and 0:30 a.m. to ensure correct date change the following day.
