Introduction
This manual provides an overview of the installation and configuration procedures for the iDim (iDimension®) CLS Bridge software. The iDim CLS Bridge software connects the industrial PC on which it is installed to a scale (CLS-680 indicator, Dini Argeo® LTP indicator, or VIRTUi³®) and to iDimSS (the iDimension software suite).

IMPORTANT: Read and follow all safety instructions and warnings from the forklift and indicator manufacturers.
1.1 Required Configuration
- Windows 10® version 1607 or newer (64-bit only) or equivalent Windows® Server operating system.
- 2 GHz or faster processor.
- 250 MB of disk space required for installation. Additional space varies based on data retention requirements.
- 8 GB of RAM or more.
- TCP/IP Ethernet connection for integration of external equipment and systems.
- Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n or higher for external data communication.
- Touchscreen (suggested).
- iDimSS version 2.22 or higher running on an external PC.
- If a scale is used, one of the following: VIRTUi³, CLS-680, or Dini Argeo LTP scale.
2.0 Installation and Software Access
2.1 iDim CLS Bridge Installation
- Download the iDim CLS Bridge software from www.ricelake.com/software.
- Unzip the file and run IDim_CLS_Bridge_PN220981.Installer.exe.
- Read the Rice Lake Weighing Systems license agreement. Check the box if the terms are acceptable.
- (Optional) To change the installation location, follow these steps:
- Select Options, then Browse to install iDimSS CLS Bridge in a user-specified file location.
- Select OK to return to the previous window.
- Select Install.
- The installation complete window will appear; select Close. iDim CLS Bridge is installed successfully.
3.0 iDim CLS Bridge Basic Functions
3.1 Launching the iDim CLS Bridge Software
- From the Windows Start menu, open the Rice Lake Weighing Systems folder.
- Select R iDim CLS Bridge.
- The application will appear.
The main display shows the following elements:

- F1-F5 Function Keys: For various functions like Dimensions and Weight, Dimensions Only, Weight Only, Weight Hold.
- virtui, paramètres, environ: Navigation buttons for different software sections.
3.2 Language Configuration
- Navigate to the main display.
- Select the flag corresponding to the desired language.
- The application language changes.
4.0 iDim CLS Bridge Elements
4.1 Main Display Elements
The main display appears when the software is launched and offers several elements for ease of use. Each element is identified in Illustration 4-1.

Q | Langues (Languages) | Changes the user interface language. See Section 3.2, page 8 for quick change configuration. See Section 5.1, page 14 for default language configuration. NOTE: Compatibility with Alibi is built into the software. No software setting allows modification of this function. |
4.2 Settings Menu
4.2.1 Accessing the Settings Menu
- From the main display, select Settings. NOTE: Administrator privileges are required to access the settings menu. To run the CLS Bridge software with administrator privileges on Windows 11, right-click the application and select "Run as administrator."
- The settings menu appears.
4.2.2 Settings Menu Elements
The settings menu contains several elements that open additional menus to facilitate configuration. Each element is identified in Illustration 4-4.

4.3 About Window
4.3.1 Accessing the About Window
- Navigate to the main display.
- Select About.
- The About window opens on the right side.
4.3.2 About Window Elements
The About window contains several elements that provide additional information about the software. Each element is identified in Illustration 4-7.

5.0 Configuration
This section describes how to configure the settings. For the iDim CLS Bridge to function, ensure that the iDimSS, forklift, and scale settings are configured. NOTE: The settings menu contains several settings menus for the scale (VIRTUi³, CLS-680, or Dini Argeo LTP scale); only the settings for the scale installed on the forklift need to be configured.
5.1 Default Language Configuration
- Navigate to the language settings.
- Select the default language dropdown menu.
- Select the default language.
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon. NOTE: The language only changes on the application screen.
5.2 Home View Configuration
- Navigate to the home view settings.
- Configure the following settings:
- Dimensions and Weight Buttons Enabled: Check the box to enable the Dimensions and Weight button function.
- Dimensions Only Button Enabled: Check the box to enable the Dimensions Only button function.
- Weight Only Button Enabled: Check the box to enable the Weight Only button function.
- Weight Hold Button Enabled: Check the box to enable the Weight Hold button function.
- Select Capture Results Display Method: Choose between the following display options.
- As Text: Displays weighing results as numerical data (see Section Illustration 5-4, page 16).
- As Thumbs Up/Down: Displays weighing results as a thumbs-up or thumbs-down icon (see Section Illustration 5-5, page 16).
- Default Operation Modes: Choose between the following default operation modes:
- Drop and Clear: Enable if you drop merchandise under the dimensioner and then back the forklift away.
- Stop and Go: Enable if you hold the load on the forklift during dimensioning.
- Can Toggle Operation Mode: Check the box to enable the Operation Mode button on the main display.
- Transient Operation Mode Toggle: Check the box to allow temporary selection of an operation mode. When enabled, the operation mode reverts to its default setting after a transaction.
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
5.3 Barcode Scanner Settings Configuration
NOTE: A barcode scanner is optional and configuration may not apply to all systems.
- Navigate to the barcode scanner settings.
- Check the Enabled box.
- Set the connection type to TCP/IP or RS232.
- Perform one of the following:
- A. If using TCP/IP: Configure the Listening Port as the TCP port number used by the application to listen for incoming TCP/IP data from the barcode scanner.
- B. If using RS232: Configure the following elements:
- Serial Port: Set the communication port number on the PC to which the barcode scanner is connected.
- Baud Rate: Set the serial port baud rate (1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, or 115200).
- Data Bits: Set the serial port data bits (7 or 8).
- Parity: Set the serial port parity (none, odd, even, mark, or space).
- Stop Bits: Set the number of stop bits transmitted or received by the port (none, one, two, or one-point-five).
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
5.4 Keyence Scanner Settings Configuration
NOTE: A Keyence scanner is optional and configuration may not apply to all systems.
- Navigate to the Keyence scanner settings.
- Configure the following elements:
- IP Address: Enter the IP address of the computer running the Keyence scanner.
- Tcp Port: Set the port connected to the Keyence scanner.
- Timeout (seconds): Set the number of seconds required for the scanner to read the barcode (1 to 10).
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
5.5 iDimSS Integration Configuration
5.5.1 Adding iDimSS Integration
- Navigate to iDimSS Integration.
- Select Add.
- The iDimSS Integration modification window appears.
- Configure the following settings:
- Enabled: Check this box to display the dimensioner in the Select Dimensioner dropdown menu (see Illustration 4-2, page 10) on the main display.
- Manual Entry: Check this box to allow manual dimensioning.
- Dimensioner Name: Enter the exact dimensioner name configured in iDimSS.
- IP Address: Enter the IP address of the computer running iDimSS. The IP address can be configured as the same value for multiple dimensioners configured in iDimSS.
- Port: Enter the listening port used by the computer running iDimSS (the default iDimSS port is 5001).
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
5.5.2 Modifying a Dimensioner
- Navigate to iDimSS Integration.
- Select Edit to modify a configured iDimSS Integration.
- The iDimSS Integration modification window appears.
- Modify the settings as needed (see Section 5.5.1, page 18 for setting descriptions).
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
5.5.3 Deleting a Dimensioner
- Navigate to iDimSS Integration.
- Select Delete next to the iDimSS Integration to delete.
- A confirmation window appears.
- Select Yes to delete or No to cancel.
5.6 Forklift Settings Configuration
NOTE: Do not configure this field if the selected dimensioner does not support the Stop and Go functionality. Configuring this setting for dimensioners incompatible with Stop and Go will result in improper capture operation.
- Navigate to the forklift settings.
- Configure the following settings:
- Forklift Id: Enter the forklift ID used to identify it in iDimSS. This enables the dimensioner's Stop and Go functionality.
- Indicator Type: Set the indicator type used on the forklift: VIRTUi³, Dini LTP, CLS-680, or None. This configuration must match the type of hardware installed to receive weight information.
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
5.7 Dini Argeo LTP Scale Settings Configuration
NOTE: The Dini Argeo LTP scale requires the Alibi memory module to be installed to function correctly with iDim CLS Bridge.
- Navigate to the Dini LTP scale settings.
- Configure the following settings:
- Serial Port: Set the communication port number on the PC to which the Dini Argeo LTP scale is connected.
- Baud Rate: Set the serial port baud rate (9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, or 115200).
- Data Bits: Set the serial port data bits (7 or 8).
- Parity: Set the serial port parity (none, odd, even, mark, or space).
- Stop Bits: Set the number of stop bits transmitted or received by the port (none, 1, 2, or 1.5).
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
5.8 Ravas Scale Settings Configuration
NOTE: The Ravas scale requires the Alibi memory module to be installed to function correctly with iDim CLS Bridge.
- Navigate to the Ravas scale settings.
- Configure the following settings:
- Serial Port: Set the communication port number on the PC to which the Ravas scale is connected.
- Baud Rate: Set the serial port baud rate (9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, or 115200).
- Data Bits: Set the serial port data bits (7 or 8).
- Parity: Set the serial port parity (none, odd, even, mark, or space).
- Stop Bits: Set the number of stop bits transmitted or received by the port (none, 1, 2, or 1.5).
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
5.9 CLS-680 Scale Settings Configuration
- Navigate to the CLS-680 scale settings.
- Set the connection type to TCP or RS232.
- Perform one of the following:
- A. If using TCP: Configure the following elements:
- IP Address: Set the IP address of the CLS-680 scale.
- Port: Set the port for the CLS-680 scale.
- B. If using RS232: Configure the following elements:
- Serial Port: Set the communication port number on the PC to which the CLS-680 scale is connected.
- Baud Rate: Set the serial port baud rate (9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, or 115200).
- Data Bits: Set the serial port data bits (7 or 8).
- Parity: Set the serial port parity (none, odd, even, mark, or space).
- Stop Bits: Set the number of stop bits transmitted or received by the port (none, one, two, or one-point-five).
- A. If using TCP: Configure the following elements:
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
5.10 VIRTUi³ Configuration
5.10.1 VIRTUi³ Scale Settings
- Navigate to the VIRTUi³ scale settings.
- Configure the following elements:
- IP Address: Set the IP address of the PC where VIRTUi³ is used.
- Port: Set the port of the PC where VIRTUi³ is used.
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
5.10.2 VIRTUi³ Viewer Settings
- Navigate to the VIRTUi³ viewer settings.
- Set the VIRTUi³ path as the access path for the VIRTUi³ viewer.
- Select Save to confirm changes or Cancel to abandon.
6.0 Operation
6.1 Using a Dimensioner
- Select a dimensioner from the Select Dimensioner dropdown menu.
- Select the Container PRO/ID Number field. A keyboard appears next to the field.
- Enter a value in the container PRO/ID number field using the keyboard or an optional barcode scanner.
- Lift the container with the forklift. If using a scale, ensure a valid weight is displayed in the application.
- Transport the object to the dimensioner and align it with the dimensioning system.
- Park the forklift.
- Select Dimensions and Weight, Dimensions Only, or Weight Only to perform data acquisition. NOTE: Acquisition buttons are only available when the scale is stable.
- Once complete, the captured data is displayed in the application and sent to iDimSS.
6.2 Using Manual Dimensioning Functions
- Select a dimensioner from the Select Dimensioner dropdown menu.
- Select the units dropdown menu and choose the desired unit of measure.
- Enter the values for the Length, Width, and Height fields.
- Select the Container PRO/ID Number field. A keyboard appears next to the field.
- Enter a value in the container PRO/ID number field using the keyboard or an optional barcode scanner.
- Lift the container with the forklift to weigh it.
- Select Dimensions and Weight or Dimensions Only to perform data acquisition using manual dimension entry.
- Once complete, the captured data is displayed in the application and sent to iDimSS.
7.0 Error Messages
7.1 Application Error Messages
In case of an error, the application displays an error message. These messages provide details about the cause of the error. Read the message and try to resolve the problem. The following example shows an IP address that was incorrectly set in the CLS-680 configuration.
The application logs errors in log files on the PC at the following location: C:\ProgramData\Rice Lake Weighing Systems\IDim_CLS_Bridge_PN220981\logs\
NOTE: Consult Windows Help to display hidden folders if the ProgramData folder is missing.
The file creation date is integrated into the log file name in the format logYYYYMMDD.JSON. Where: YYYY = Year MM = Month DD = Day JSON = JavaScript Object Notation For example: log20231127.JSON
7.2 Capture Error Messages
The following examples display an error where capture results return err messages. These messages often occur when the iDimSS IP address is incorrectly set. Verify that the IP addresses are set correctly and retry the process.
