⚠️ WARNING

? Fire Hazard

Never place items in the washer that are dampened with gasoline or other flammable fluids. No washer can completely remove oil. Do not dry anything that has ever had any type of oil on it (including cooking oils). Doing so can result in death, explosion, or fire.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, read the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS, located in your appliance's Owner's Manual, before operating this appliance.

Control Panel and Features

Control Panel Overview:

The control panel features a central cycle knob and several buttons. The cycles available include: Normal, Bulky Items, Delicates, Quick Wash, Whites, Colors, Casuals, Drain & Spin, and Clean Washer. Temperature settings can be adjusted (Hot, Warm, Cool, Cold, Tap Cold). Cycle modifiers such as Max, Extra, Auto, and Med are also available.

Key Components:

  • 1. POWER: Press to turn the washer on/off or to stop/cancel a cycle.
  • 2. CYCLE KNOB: Turn the knob to select the desired wash cycle.
  • 3. START/PAUSE: Press and hold the Start/Pause button for 1 second to begin the cycle. Press during a cycle to pause and unlock the lid. (Note: If the machine is spinning, it may take longer for the lid to unlock).
  • 4. CYCLE MODIFIERS: (Note: Not all modifiers are available on all cycles)
    • TEMPERATURE: Turn the knob to choose the appropriate temperature for the cycle (Tap Cold, Cold, Cool, Warm, or Hot).

Getting Started

Follow these steps to start your wash cycle:

  1. Step 1: ADD HE DETERGENT

Designed to use only HE (High Efficiency) detergents.

NOTE: See ADDING LAUNDRY PRODUCTS for more information.

  2. Step 2: LOAD CLOTHES

For best results, load garments in loose heaps evenly around the basket wall.

  3. Step 3: PRESS POWER TO TURN ON THE WASHER
  4. Step 4: SELECT THE DESIRED CYCLE FOR YOUR LOAD*
  5. Step 5: ADJUST CYCLE SETTINGS AND SELECT ADDITIONAL OPTIONS*
  6. Step 6: PRESS AND HOLD START/PAUSE TO BEGIN CYCLE

NOTE: The Start button must be held for 1 second to start the cycle. Once the status lights are illuminated, release the start button.

*Not all cycles, settings, or options are available with all models.

Choosing the Right Cycle

A comprehensive cycle guide is available online at www.maytag.com. This guide helps identify the best cycle for various load types and their default options. For example, the Normal cycle with Warm water is recommended for cottons, linens, and mixed-garment loads.

DEEP FILL & RINSE Options:

Use one of the Deep Fill options (Med, Max, Max + Extra Rinse) to automatically add more water to your wash cycle. These options can also help reduce the likelihood of white residue on dark clothing. By default, every cycle uses one rinse phase. To add a second rinse phase, use one of the Extra Rinse options ('Max + Extra Rinse', 'Auto + Extra Rinse').

IMPORTANT: Either Auto (+Extra Rinse) or Max (+Extra Rinse) must be selected when using fabric softener.

NOTE: If the washer detects an out-of-balance condition, it may pause and attempt to redistribute the load. During this time, the Sense and Wash status indicators will both briefly illuminate.

WARNING: Do not wash water-resistant or water-repellant-type clothing. Failure to closely follow these instructions may result in an abnormal vibrating and out-of-balance condition that could result in physical injury, property damage, and/or appliance damage.

MORE WATER WHEN YOU WANT IT (AUTO SENSING AND DEEP FILL)

When you select Deep Fill-Auto or Deep Fill-Auto + Extra Rinse, the washer automatically adjusts the water level to the optimal amount for a High Efficiency wash of the detected load size. Select Deep Fill - Med, Max, or Deep Fill - Max + Extra Rinse to add more water to your wash cycle. It is recommended to use the Bulky Items cycle with the Deep Fill - Max option for loads where maximum water level is desired. Expect longer cycle times due to extended fill duration when using Deep Fill options other than Auto.

CLEANING WITH LESS WATER

The washer is designed and optimized to provide a thorough cleaning using less water to conserve energy and resources. As the washer dampens and moves the load, the items will settle in the basket. This is normal and does not indicate that more items should be added. You will not see a full basket of water as with older, less efficient washing machines; it is normal for some of the load to be above the water line.

Adding Laundry Products

IMPORTANT: Using non-HE detergent may result in longer cycle times, reduced rinsing performance, component malfunction, and, over time, buildup of mold or mildew. HE detergents should be low-sudsing and quick-dispersing for optimal performance.

ADDING HE DETERGENT TO BASKET

Add a measured amount of HE detergent or single-dose laundry packets into the basket. If using oxi-type boosters, color-safe bleach, or fabric softener crystals, add them to the bottom of the washer basket before adding clothes.

NOTE: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to determine the correct amount of laundry products to use.

ADDING LIQUID CHLORINE BLEACH

Do not overfill, dilute, or use more than 1 cup (236 mL). Do not use color-safe bleach or oxi products in the same cycle with liquid chlorine bleach.

ADDING LIQUID FABRIC SOFTENER

Pour a measured amount of liquid fabric softener into the dispenser. Always follow manufacturer's directions for the correct amount based on your load size. Dilute liquid fabric softener by filling the dispenser with warm water until the liquid reaches the underside of the rim (refer to Max Fill line arrows).

IMPORTANT: When using fabric softener, always use the Deep Fill & Rinse knob to select a setting with '+Extra Rinse' to ensure proper distribution at the correct time in the cycle.
