Device Description and Depiction
The ceramic heater (TFC 16 E) generates and distributes warm air. It uses a ceramic heating element, and the heated air is blown into the room by a fan. The device is equipped with an integrated thermostat, overheating protection, and a tilt protection switch.
Device Components:
- 1. Rotary switch room thermostat
- 2. Function selector switch for heating levels and ventilation (OFF, cold air/ventilation, heating level 1 (1200 W), heating level 2 (2000 W))
- 3. Operating light
- 4. Air outlet
- 5. Tilt protection switch (located at the bottom)
- 6. Transport handle
- 7. Air inlet
Operation
General: Avoid open doors and windows during operation.
Switching the device on: The device will not switch on until the room temperature falls below the set temperature on the room thermostat.
Setting the heating level:
- Set the function selector switch (2) to I (heating level 1) or II (heating level 2).
- Turn the rotary switch room thermostat (1) until the device switches on. The operating light (3) will illuminate.
Setting the room thermostat:
- Set the thermostat control to maximum.
- As the desired temperature is reached, slowly turn the thermostat control back until the device switches off (operating light goes out).
The device will now automatically maintain the desired temperature. When the set value is exceeded, heating switches off. When the set value falls below, heating switches back on.
Cold air operation:
- Set the function selector switch (2) to the fan stage ♀ (cold air/ventilation).
- Turn the rotary switch room thermostat (1) until the device switches on.
Shutdown:
- Set the rotary switch (1) to the lowest level.
- Turn the function selector switch (2) to the ♀ position (ventilation only).
- Keep the fan running for 3 minutes for cooling down.
- Switch the device off by setting the function selector switch (2) to the 0 position.
- Hold onto the mains plug while pulling the power cable out of the mains socket.
- Allow the device to cool down completely.
Tilt Protection
The TFC 16 E is equipped with a tilt protection switch (5) to minimize the risk of fire if the device is tipped over. When the device is tilted or knocked over, the tilt protection switch is activated, and the device switches off.
The device can be used again after a few seconds once it is placed back in a vertical position on solid ground.
Overheating Protection
The device has a safety thermostat that activates in case of overheating, turning the device off. Once the device has cooled down sufficiently, it will switch back on automatically. If the safety thermostat does not switch in the event of overheating, the overheating protection will be tripped, and the device will switch off completely. In this case, contact customer service.
Errors and Faults
The device does not start:
- Check power connection and cable for damage.
- Check on-site fusing.
- Verify room temperature; the thermostat may have switched off.
- Check if the device is upright and on level ground (tilt protection).
- The motor or room thermostat may be defective and require replacement by a specialist.
The device is switched on, fan operating, heating not:
- Check if a heating level is selected.
- Verify room temperature; the thermostat may have switched off.
- Check if overheating protection has tripped.
- The heating resistor or room thermostat may be defective.
The fan does not run:
- Check if the device is switched on and power is connected.
- Check power cable and mains plug for damages.
- Check if a fan stage has been selected.
- Check room thermostat setting.
- The fan motor may be defective.
The air current is reduced:
- Check and clean air inlet and outlet. Ensure minimum distances to walls and objects are maintained.
The device is loud or vibrates:
- Check if the device is set up stably and upright.
Note: Wait at least 3 minutes after maintenance and repair work before switching the device back on.
If the device still does not operate correctly, contact customer service or an authorised specialist electrical company.
Maintenance
Activities required before starting maintenance:
- Do not touch the mains plug with wet or damp hands.
- Switch the device off.
- Hold onto the mains plug while pulling the power cable out of the mains socket.
- Allow the device to cool down completely.
Cleaning the housing:
- Never immerse the device in water.
- Clean the housing with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. Ensure no moisture enters the housing.
- Do not use aggressive cleaning agents (sprays, solvents, alcohol-based or abrasive cleaners).
- Wipe the housing dry after cleaning.
