System Settings and Operations
Setting Game Configurations
EmuELEC (EE) offers three levels for game settings:
- Global Settings: Configured in the main ES menu under "[Game Settings]".
- Per-System Settings: Found under "[Game Settings] -> PER SYSTEM ADVANCED CONFIGURATION", specific to emulator models.
- Individual Game Settings: Accessed by long-pressing the [A] button on a game name and selecting "[Advanced Game Options]".
Priority: Individual game settings > Simulator settings > Global settings.
Switching Emulator Cores
If a game fails to run, the emulator core might not support it. To resolve this:
- Select the problematic game in the list.
- Long-press the [A] button to open "[Advanced Game Options]".
- Change the "Simulator" option to a different core.
If no core works, the game [ROM] itself might be faulty. Provide feedback for correction.
Core Selection Suggestions:
- CPS1, 2, 3: Prioritize FBAlpha2012, then FBNeo or other FBA cores.
- FBNeo: Prioritize FBNeo, then FBAlpha2012 or other FBA cores.
- MAME: Prioritize FBNeo, then MAME2010 or other cores.
- GBA: MGBA supports key combinations; GPSP supports game modifications.
Changing Themes
Press [START] to open the menu, navigate to "[User Interface Settings]", select "Background Theme", and choose your preferred theme.
Game Display Scale
Adjust the game screen ratio for optimal display:
- Press [START], select "[Game Settings]", then "[Game Display Scale]".
- X/Y Scaling: Matches screen resolution (e.g., 640x480 is 4:3). This often results in full-screen display but can cause distortion.
- CORE PROVIDEO: Uses the emulator core's default resolution, preserving the original aspect ratio without deformation. This is recommended for games with non-standard aspect ratios (e.g., arcade vertical shooters) or for GB/GBC games to prevent stretching.
Adjusting Volume
Use the physical volume up/down buttons on the console. Alternatively, press [START] to open the menu, select "[Sound Settings]", and adjust system and music volumes.
Adding Games to Favorites
Select a game, long-press [A], choose "[Add to Favorites]" from the pop-up menu, and confirm.
Adjusting Brightness
Press [START] to open the menu, navigate to "[System Settings]", select "[Brightness]", and use the D-pad left/right to adjust.
Switching Language
Press [START] to open the menu, select "[System Settings]", then "Language". Choose your desired language and confirm. A [Restart] of EmulationStation is required.
Setting Side B in FDS Games
For some FDS games requiring Side B setup, press [L1] when prompted to load the game correctly.
Adding Games
1. Insert the [TF card] into a computer.
2. Navigate to the "EEROMS" disk.
3. Copy downloaded games into their respective emulator folders.
4. Place game images into the "media/screenshot" folder.
5. Edit the "gamelist.xml" file (using Notepad) to add new game information.
6. Safely eject the [TF card] and reinsert it into the console.
(Troubleshooting: If "EEROMS" disk is not visible, check Disk Management in your computer's settings.)
Deleting Games
Select the game, long-press [A], choose "[Delete Game]" from the menu, and confirm.
Shutting Down
To prevent data loss, avoid using the physical power button. Instead, press [START] on the main interface, select "[Exit]" -> "[System Shutdown]".
Filter Descriptions
CRT filter: Simulates old CRT monitor effects (spherical, glow, scan lines) for PS, NES, SNES, arcade, etc.
LCD filter: Simulates LCD screen grid effects, suitable for LCD handhelds.
Magnification filter: Enhances image detail and reduces graininess in low-resolution images after scaling. May impact performance.
Hardware simulation filter: Simulates visual effects and colors of specific models.
Recommended Selection: For arcade games, use Magnification filter for detail or CRT filter for nostalgia.
Memory Card Speed
Using a high-speed [TF card] significantly improves system response, page switching, and game loading times. High-quality, high-speed cards are recommended.
