GENERAL

WARNING

• The robot includes an AC power cord approved for your region, designed for connection only to a standard domestic AC power outlet. Do not use any other power cord or adapter. To order a replacement cord, contact customer care to ensure you select the correct power cord for your country.
• Do not open the robot or the charging station in any way other than as indicated in the Owner's Guide. The device contains no user-serviceable parts. Contact service personnel for repair.
• Risk of electric shock: use only indoors and in dry locations.
• Do not handle the robot or the charging station with wet hands.
• Do not use unauthorized chargers. Using an unauthorized charger could cause the battery to overheat, generate smoke, ignite, or explode.
• Your robot is not a toy. While it is operating, always supervise young children and pets.
• Do not sit or stand on the robot or the charging station.
• Store and use your robot at room temperature.
• If the room to be cleaned has a balcony, use a physical barrier to prevent the robot from accessing it and ensure safe use.
• If there are any appliances in the room to be cleaned, such as stoves, fans, heaters, or humidifiers, remove them before using the robot. If the robot comes into contact and collides with any of them, there may be a risk of injury, accidents, or malfunction.
• Try not to get the robot or the charging station wet.
• Be aware that the floor may become slippery after cleaning with your robot.
• Clean accumulated dirt from the cliff sensors.

CAUTION

• Do not use the robot in areas with exposed electrical outlets on the floor.
• Do not use this device to pick up sharp objects, glass, or anything that is burning or emitting smoke.
• Be aware that the robot moves on its own. Be careful when you are in the area where the robot is operating to avoid stepping on it or tripping.
• If the device runs over a power cord and drags it, it could pull any object on a table or shelf. Before using this device, pick up items such as clothing, loose papers, blind or curtain cords, power cords, and any fragile objects. Extinguish candles. Turn off stoves.
• To ensure the safe operation of the robot and charging station, perform the necessary maintenance indicated in the Owner's Guide.
• If the robot is operating on a floor with stairs, remove all obstacles from the upper step.
• Do not turn the robot upside down with the reservoir for Combo installed.

NOTICE

• Do not place any objects on the robot or the charging station.
• Failure to keep the charger contacts clean may prevent the robot's battery from charging.
• Before using the robot on floors, test it on a small section of the floor to check compatibility. If you use the robot on an incompatible floor, the floor may be damaged. If you have doubts about compatibility, contact the manufacturer.
• Before operating the robot on carpets or rugs, check that they are compatible with the robot's dual-surface rubber brushes, also known as the tangle-free brushes. If you use the robot on an incompatible carpet or rug, it may be damaged. If you have doubts about compatibility, contact the manufacturer.

Cleaning Solution

WARNING

• Household cleaning products are safe when used and stored according to the label instructions. Always be sure to read and follow the instructions carefully.
• Use only the authorized cleaning solution indicated at answers.irobot.com/s/roomba-combo-cleanser.
• For warnings about the cleaning solution, refer to the outer box and the solution bottle.

Keep out of reach of children

Wash hands after use

Keep out of eyes. If the product gets into eyes, rinse them thoroughly with water.

Battery

WARNING

• Do not open, crush, heat above 80°C (176°F), or dispose of in fire. Follow the Owner's Guide instructions for proper use, maintenance, handling, and cleaning.
• Prevent battery terminals from contacting metal objects and do not immerse in any liquid to prevent short circuits. Do not subject batteries to mechanical shock.
• Lithium batteries and products containing lithium batteries are subject to strict transportation regulations. If you need to ship this product (with battery included) for maintenance, relocation, or any other reason, consult the troubleshooting section of the manual or contact iRobot Customer Care for shipping instructions.
• Periodically check the battery for any signs of damage or leakage. Do not charge damaged or leaking batteries and try to avoid contact of the contained liquid with skin and eyes. In case of contact, wash the affected area with plenty of water and seek medical attention.

CAUTION

• Children's use of the battery should be supervised. Seek medical attention immediately if a cell or battery is swallowed.

NOTICE

• You must remove the batteries from the robot before recycling or disposing of it.
• For optimal performance, use only the iRobot lithium battery that comes with your robot.
• Do not use non-rechargeable batteries. Use only the rechargeable battery that comes with the product. If you need a replacement battery, purchase an identical iRobot battery or contact iRobot Customer Care for other options.
• If you are storing the robot for an extended period, always charge the battery and remove it from your robot, along with accessories, before storing.

This battery symbol indicates that the battery must not be disposed of with household waste. As an end-user, it is your responsibility to dispose of the battery at the end of its useful life in an environmentally friendly manner, in one of the following ways:

(1) returning it to the retailer where you purchased the product or

(2) depositing it at a local collection point.

The collection and recycling of batteries at the end of their useful life will help conserve natural resources and ensure that they are recycled in a manner that protects human health and the environment. For more information, contact your local recycling point or the retailer where you originally purchased the product. If batteries are not properly disposed of at the end of their useful life, due to the substances they contain, negative effects on the environment and human health may occur. Auto-Empty Dock Safety

WARNING

• Do not use with a damaged cord or plug. If the device does not function as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a service center.
• Always disconnect the robot from the empty station before cleaning or servicing it.
• Do not use the dirt disposal station as a step.
• Do not place any objects in the openings. Do not use if any opening is blocked; keep them clear of dust, lint, hair, and anything that could reduce airflow.
• To properly maintain the empty station, do not place foreign objects inside and ensure it is free of debris.
• To prevent a hazard due to unintentional resetting of the thermal protector, this device should not be powered through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on or off by the utility.
• Do not allow liquids into the empty station.
• Do not pour any liquid into the device and do not immerse it in water.
• Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
• Do not allow it to be used as a toy. When used by or near children, supervision is necessary.
• Use only as described in this manual.
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug the empty station before cleaning it.
• Keep the empty station and power cord away from hot surfaces.

NOTICE

• The product cannot be used with any type of power converter. The use of power converters will immediately void the warranty.
• If you live in an area prone to thunderstorms, it is recommended to use an additional surge protection system. The empty station may be protected with a surge protector in case of severe thunderstorms.
• Do not use without the dust bag or filters in place.

About the Roomba Combo™ Reservoir

1. Installing the Mopping Pad

Slide the mopping pad down into the guide. Push the pad against the plate to secure it.

2. Filling the Reservoir

Fill the Combo reservoir with water. You can also use a compatible cleaning product. Compatible solutions are listed at answers.irobot.com/s/roomba-combo-cleanser.

Note: The product begins to absorb moisture as soon as water is introduced into the tank.

3. Swapping Reservoirs

Remove the reservoir from the robot and install the Combo reservoir.

Important: Do not turn the robot upside down with the Combo reservoir installed.

IMPORTANT: You must register the product in the iRobot Home app and complete a mapping run before using the Combo reservoir. Refer to the Activate Combo Reservoir card for instructions.

About the Automatic Dirt Disposal Station

While cleaning, the robot will automatically return to the empty station to empty its bin and recharge as needed.

The empty station's LED indicator will turn solid red when it needs a new bag. If an obstruction is detected, the empty station will make several attempts to automatically clear the obstruction.

Note: If you place the robot on the empty station manually, it will not empty automatically. In this case, use the iRobot HOME app or press and hold the button for 2-5 seconds.

Note: Do not place the Clean Base automatic empty station under direct sunlight. Ensure the area around the base is clear to improve its performance.

WARNING: To avoid the risk of the robot falling down stairs, ensure the charging station is placed at least 1.2 meters (4 ft) from any stairs.

Charging

Light Ring Spiral While Charging

• White Spiral: Charging
• Red Spiral: Charging, low battery
• A solid white light indicates your robot's battery charge percentage.

Place the robot on the charging station to activate the battery.

Note: The robot comes with a partial charge, but we recommend charging it for 3 hours before its first cleaning job.

When the robot has fully charged, the light ring indicator will flash white intermittently on the back.

• The robot uses a small amount of energy while in the charging station. You can put the robot into an energy-saving mode when not in use. To put the robot into reduced power standby mode, remove the reservoir and press the Clean button 5 times. To exit reduced power standby mode, place the robot on the charging station and press the Clean button. For more information about reduced power standby mode, see the FAQ page on our website.
• For long-term storage, power off the robot by removing it from the charging station and pressing and holding the Clean button for 3 seconds with one wheel lifted off the floor. Store the robot in a cool, dry place.

Cleaning

Press and hold for 2-5 seconds to end a task

• The robot will automatically explore and clean your home in orderly rows, avoiding obstacles with its front camera. It will return to the charging station when a cleaning job is finished and each time it needs to recharge.
• The robot is capable of recognizing and avoiding objects. However, it is recommended to clear the area before cleaning.
• To end a task and return the robot to its charging station, press and hold the Clean button for 2-5 seconds. A blue light ring pattern will indicate that the robot is searching for the charging station.
• When the robot detects a particularly dirty area, it enters Dirt Detect™ mode and moves back and forth to thoroughly clean the area. The light ring indicator will flash blue.
• When the robot detects it needs to empty its bin, the light ring indicator illuminates in a sweeping motion in red towards the rear.

Care and Maintenance

Robot Care and Maintenance Instructions

To keep the robot running at peak performance, follow these steps. Additional instructional videos are available in the iRobot Home app. If you notice the robot picking up less dirt from the floor, empty the reservoir and clean the filter and brushes.

Note: iRobot manufactures various replacement kits and parts. If you believe you need a replacement part, contact iRobot Customer Care for more information.

*Replacement frequency may vary. Parts should be replaced if visible wear is present.

Emptying the Reservoir

1. Press the reservoir release button to extract it.
2. Open the reservoir lid to empty it.
3. Reinstall the reservoir on the robot.

Cleaning the Filter

1. Remove the reservoir. Hold both ends and pull to remove the filter.
2. Remove dirt from the filter by tapping it against the trash bin.
3. Reinstall the filter with the ribbed side facing out. Reinstall the reservoir on the robot.

Important: The robot will not operate if the filter is not installed correctly. Replace the filter every two months.

Cleaning Full Reservoir Sensors

1. Remove and empty the reservoir.
2. Clean the internal sensors with a clean, dry cloth.
3. Clean the reservoir lid with a clean, dry cloth. (Door closed / Door open)

Washing the Reservoir

Important: Do not wash the filter. Remove it before washing the reservoir.

1. Release the reservoir, remove the filter, and open the reservoir lid.
2. Rinse the reservoir with warm water.

Note: The reservoir cannot be washed in a dishwasher.

1. Ensure the reservoir is completely dry. Reinsert the filter and place the reservoir back into the robot.

Cleaning the Corner Brush

1. Use a coin or a small screwdriver to remove the screw holding the corner brush in place.
2. Pull to remove the corner brush. Remove any hair or debris and then reinstall the brush.

Cleaning the Front Caster Wheel

1. Firmly pull the front caster wheel module to remove it from the robot.
2. Firmly pull the wheel to remove it from the housing (see illustration below).
3. Remove any dirt from inside the wheel cavity.
4. When finished, reinstall all parts. Ensure the wheel is properly seated.

Cleaning the Multi-Surface Brushes

1. Pull the brush frame release lever, lift it, and remove any obstruction.
2. Remove the robot's brushes. Remove the brush end caps. Remove any hair or debris trapped under their caps or bearings. Reinstall the brush end caps.
3. Remove any hair or debris from the square and hexagonal shafts on the sides of the brushes.
4. Clean any debris from the vacuum path.
5. Reinstall the brushes into the robot. Match the shape of the brush pins to the shape of the brush icons in the cleaning head module.

Important: An obstructed front wheel with hair and debris could damage the floor. If the wheel does not spin freely after cleaning, contact Customer Care.

Cleaning Sensors, Camera Window, and Charging Contacts

1. Clean the sensors, camera window, and charging contacts with a clean, dry cloth.

Only RVE-Y1 models

Important: Do not spray cleaning solution or water into the sensor openings or onto the sensors.

Cleaning the Mopping Pad

HAND WASH

Wash the pad thoroughly with warm water.

MACHINE WASH

Wash on a gentle cycle and air dry. Do not use a dryer. Do not wash with delicates.

Replacing the Wick Cover

1. Remove the mopping pad plate from the Combo reservoir.
2. To remove the replacement cap, pull the side rubber tab.
3. Replace with a new one: press it firmly into place so it seals well and prevents liquid from leaking.
4. Reinstall the mopping pad plate.

1. Lift the bin lid to open.
2. Pull the plastic tab to remove the bag from the bin.
3. Dispose of the used bag.
4. To install a new bag, slide the plastic tab into the bag guides.

Note: This will seal the bag so dust and dirt cannot escape.

Cleaning the Docking Target and Charging Contacts

Check the docking target and charging contacts to ensure they are free of debris. Clean them with a clean, dry cloth.

Important: Do not spray water or cleaning solution into the sensor openings or onto the sensors.

Removing Dirt from the Extractor Cover

Examine the extractor cover for accumulated lint or dirt and clean it with a clean, dry cloth to remove them.

Troubleshooting

Robot Troubleshooting

The robot will alert you that something is not working correctly with an audible alert and a red light ring indicator. Press the Clean button or tap the bumper for more details. If you need help, consult the iRobot Home app.

Red Light Ring

Low Battery. Charge it.

• After 90 minutes of inactivity outside the charging station, the robot will automatically end its cleaning job.
• To reset the robot to factory settings, remove the reservoir and press and hold the Clean button for seven (7) seconds. You will hear a sound when the factory reset is complete. Press the Clean button once more to confirm.

Battery Shipping and Safety

For best results, use only the lithium battery that comes with your robot.

WARNING: Lithium batteries and products containing lithium batteries are subject to strict transportation regulations. If you need to ship this product for maintenance, relocation, or any other reason, follow the shipping instructions below.

• TURN OFF the battery before shipping.
• Power off the battery by removing the robot from the charging station and pressing and holding the Clean button for 3 seconds with one wheel lifted off the floor. All indicators will turn off.
• Pack the robot securely for shipping.

Automatic Dirt Disposal Troubleshooting

The empty station will alert you if something is not working correctly via the LED indicator on the front of the bin and the iRobot Home app.

This product is equipped with a thermal protector designed to protect it from damage caused by overheating. If the protector activates, the motor will stop working. If this occurs, unplug the unit, let it cool for 30 minutes, clear any obstructions from the evacuation port and evacuation tube, and plug the unit back in.

The regulatory model RVE-Y1 incorporates the Sextant radio module model AXG-Y1. The Sextant radio module is a dual-band radio operating on WLAN 2.4 GHz and WLAN 5 GHz bands. The Sextant radio module also incorporates Bluetooth and BLE, operating on the 2400 MHz – 2483.5 MHz bands.

• The 2.4 GHz band operates solely between 2400 MHz and 2483.5 MHz with a maximum EIRP output power of 17.78 dBm (59.98 mW) at 2442 MHz.
• The 5 GHz band operates solely between 5150 MHz and 5850 MHz with a maximum EIRP output power of 20.81 dBm (120.50 mW) at 5190 MHz.
