About the Roomba Combo™ Reservoir

1. Installing the Mopping Pad

Slide the mopping pad down into the guide. Push the pad against the plate to secure it.

2. Filling the Reservoir

Fill the Combo reservoir with water. You can also use a compatible cleaning product. Compatible solutions are listed at answers.irobot.com/s/roomba-combo-cleanser.

Note: The product begins to absorb moisture as soon as water is introduced into the tank.

3. Swapping Reservoirs

Remove the reservoir from the robot and install the Combo reservoir.

Important: Do not turn the robot upside down with the Combo reservoir installed.

IMPORTANT: You must register the product in the iRobot Home app and complete a mapping run before using the Combo reservoir. Refer to the Activate Combo Reservoir card for instructions.

About the Automatic Dirt Disposal Station

While cleaning, the robot will automatically return to the empty station to empty its bin and recharge as needed.

The empty station's LED indicator will turn solid red when it needs a new bag. If an obstruction is detected, the empty station will make several attempts to automatically clear the obstruction.

Note: If you place the robot on the empty station manually, it will not empty automatically. In this case, use the iRobot HOME app or press and hold the button for 2-5 seconds.

Note: Do not place the Clean Base automatic empty station under direct sunlight. Ensure the area around the base is clear to improve its performance.

WARNING: To avoid the risk of the robot falling down stairs, ensure the charging station is placed at least 1.2 meters (4 ft) from any stairs.

Charging

Light Ring Spiral While Charging

Place the robot on the charging station to activate the battery.

Note: The robot comes with a partial charge, but we recommend charging it for 3 hours before its first cleaning job.

When the robot has fully charged, the light ring indicator will flash white intermittently on the back.

Cleaning

Simply press the Clean button

Press to start/pause/resume

Press and hold for 2-5 seconds to end a task

Care and Maintenance

Robot Care and Maintenance Instructions

To keep the robot running at peak performance, follow these steps. Additional instructional videos are available in the iRobot Home app. If you notice the robot picking up less dirt from the floor, empty the reservoir and clean the filter and brushes.

Note: iRobot manufactures various replacement kits and parts. If you believe you need a replacement part, contact iRobot Customer Care for more information.

Emptying the Reservoir

  1. Press the reservoir release button to extract it.
  2. Open the reservoir lid to empty it.
  3. Reinstall the reservoir on the robot.

Cleaning the Filter

  1. Remove the reservoir. Hold both ends and pull to remove the filter.
  2. Remove dirt from the filter by tapping it against the trash bin.
  3. Reinstall the filter with the ribbed side facing out. Reinstall the reservoir on the robot.

Important: The robot will not operate if the filter is not installed correctly. Replace the filter every two months.

Cleaning Full Reservoir Sensors

  1. Remove and empty the reservoir.
  2. Clean the internal sensors with a clean, dry cloth.
  3. Clean the reservoir lid with a clean, dry cloth. (Door closed / Door open)

Washing the Reservoir

Important: Do not wash the filter. Remove it before washing the reservoir.

  1. Release the reservoir, remove the filter, and open the reservoir lid.
  2. Rinse the reservoir with warm water.

Note: The reservoir cannot be washed in a dishwasher.

  1. Ensure the reservoir is completely dry. Reinsert the filter and place the reservoir back into the robot.

Cleaning the Corner Brush

  1. Use a coin or a small screwdriver to remove the screw holding the corner brush in place.
  2. Pull to remove the corner brush. Remove any hair or debris and then reinstall the brush.

Cleaning the Front Caster Wheel

  1. Firmly pull the front caster wheel module to remove it from the robot.
  2. Firmly pull the wheel to remove it from the housing (see illustration below).
  3. Remove any dirt from inside the wheel cavity.
  4. When finished, reinstall all parts. Ensure the wheel is properly seated.

Cleaning the Multi-Surface Brushes

  1. Pull the brush frame release lever, lift it, and remove any obstruction.
  2. Remove the robot's brushes. Remove the brush end caps. Remove any hair or debris trapped under their caps or bearings. Reinstall the brush end caps.
  3. Remove any hair or debris from the square and hexagonal shafts on the sides of the brushes.
  4. Clean any debris from the vacuum path.
  5. Reinstall the brushes into the robot. Match the shape of the brush pins to the shape of the brush icons in the cleaning head module.

Important: An obstructed front wheel with hair and debris could damage the floor. If the wheel does not spin freely after cleaning, contact Customer Care.

Cleaning Sensors, Camera Window, and Charging Contacts

  1. Clean the sensors, camera window, and charging contacts with a clean, dry cloth.

Only RVE-Y1 models

Important: Do not spray cleaning solution or water into the sensor openings or onto the sensors.

Cleaning the Mopping Pad

HAND WASH

Wash the pad thoroughly with warm water.

MACHINE WASH

Wash on a gentle cycle and air dry. Do not use a dryer. Do not wash with delicates.

Replacing the Wick Cover

  1. Remove the mopping pad plate from the Combo reservoir.
  2. To remove the replacement cap, pull the side rubber tab.
  3. Replace with a new one: press it firmly into place so it seals well and prevents liquid from leaking.
  4. Reinstall the mopping pad plate.

Clean Base Care and Maintenance Instructions

Replacing the Bag

  1. Lift the bin lid to open.
  2. Pull the plastic tab to remove the bag from the bin.
  3. Dispose of the used bag.
  4. To install a new bag, slide the plastic tab into the bag guides.

Note: This will seal the bag so dust and dirt cannot escape.

  1. Press the lid down and ensure it is completely closed.

Note: For optimal performance of the robot and automatic dirt disposal station, clean or replace the robot's filter when necessary.

Cleaning the Docking Target and Charging Contacts

Check the docking target and charging contacts to ensure they are free of debris. Clean them with a clean, dry cloth.

Important: Do not spray water or cleaning solution into the sensor openings or onto the sensors.

Removing Dirt from the Extractor Cover

Examine the extractor cover for accumulated lint or dirt and clean it with a clean, dry cloth to remove them.

Troubleshooting

Robot Troubleshooting

The robot will alert you that something is not working correctly with an audible alert and a red light ring indicator. Press the Clean button or tap the bumper for more details. If you need help, consult the iRobot Home app.

Low Battery. Charge it.

Battery Shipping and Safety

For best results, use only the lithium battery that comes with your robot.

Automatic Dirt Disposal Troubleshooting

The empty station will alert you if something is not working correctly via the LED indicator on the front of the bin and the iRobot Home app.

2. Ensure the bag is properly seated.
3. If the problem persists, clear any dirt from the port on the bottom of the robot and the empty station.
Flashing RedLeak or obstruction in the base evacuation path1. Ensure the bin lid is fully inserted and closed. Press and hold the robot's CLEAN button for 2-5 seconds to manually empty the bin.
2. Clear any dirt from the port on the bottom of the robot and the empty station.
3. Unplug the empty station from the wall. Turn it on its side and check that the dirt evacuation tube is clear. If necessary, remove the tube to clear dirt.

This product is equipped with a thermal protector designed to protect it from damage caused by overheating. If the protector activates, the motor will stop working. If this occurs, unplug the unit, let it cool for 30 minutes, clear any obstructions from the evacuation port and evacuation tube, and plug the unit back in.
