Danfoss ERC 111A Electronic Refrigeration Controller
User Guide
Introduction
The Danfoss ERC 111A is an electronic refrigeration controller designed for temperature control in refrigeration appliances, suitable for front panel mounting. It features a latest-generation CPU, ample memory, and high-end electronic components, allowing for versatile software. The controller supports three separate password-protected user levels for parameter control, catering to various requirements.
Approvals: The ERC 111A is suitable for use with flammable refrigerants and has been tested according to EN/IEC 60335-2-24, annex CC and EN/IEC 60335-2-89, annex BB. It also complies with EN/IEC 60335-1 for glow wire, IEC/EN 60730, UL60730, NSF, CQC, EAC, and UA standards.
Password Protection: Access levels can be set per parameter using "KoolProg Software". There are three levels: Level 1 for shop access, Level 2 for technicians, and Level 3 for OEMs. Access levels cannot be set using the buttons. Users can alter passwords for levels they have access to, but not for higher levels.
Typical Applications
The ERC 111A is commonly used in:
- Glass Door Merchandisers
- Gastro Coolers
Glass Door Merchandiser: Features include outputs (DO1), inputs (S1, S2, di), and communication options. Ratings are specified for 100-240Vac, with red display and various approvals.
Gastro Cooler: Similar features to the merchandiser, with specific model numbers and approvals indicated.
Product Overview
Display: The ERC 111A features an LED display, available in red or blue, for displaying temperature and status. The upper left button can be configured as "Defrost", and the lower left button as "Stand by".
Buttons: Four buttons are integrated into the IP65 design for user interaction.
Clips: Used for rear mounting to secure the controller. Not used for front mounting.
Front Frame: For front mounting, the controller is placed in the designated hole, and the front frame is pressed into position, locking the controller.
Sensors: The controller supports temperature sensors for the cabinet (S1) and defrost (S2). The function of an input can be reprogrammed, but the connector cannot be moved. Sensors must be connected to their corresponding inputs (e.g., S1 to S1).
Quick Programming
Software for PC:
- KoolProg: Software from Danfoss for programming the ERC controller via a PC, offering easy parameter setting and programming. Available at Danfoss KoolProg.
- KoolKey (EKA200): A smart device acting as a gateway to connect the ERC controller to PC software "KoolProg" for fast programming. It can also be used as a programming key for transferring parameter settings.
- Mass Programming Key (EKA 201): A simple programming key for programming controllers on a production assembly line. It is a write-only device and requires KoolProg software.
- Bluetooth Adapter (EKA202 & EKA203): An external plug-in module enabling Bluetooth connectivity for the ERC controller, used with the "KoolConnect" mobile application.
