MSI Win7 Smart Tool Manual
This document provides instructions for using the MSI Win7 Smart Tool to create bootable Windows 7 installation media.
Installation Mode Restriction
The following table outlines the compatibility of different media types with UEFI and Legacy modes:

System Pre-requisites:
- The target USB storage device must have at least 8 GB of capacity.
- The USB device will be formatted during the process.
- Do not remove the target device or source file while creating the Windows 7 installation file.
- When using a USB pen drive, Windows 7 cannot be installed in UEFI mode.
- Plug in only one USB storage device when using the smart tool.
- Anti-Virus software needs to be disabled during the process.
Tool Guide
1. Smart Tool Information
The Win7 Smart Tool is a utility designed to create a copy of a Windows 7 installation file into a USB storage device or an ISO file. This allows users to install Windows 7 from a USB device or a SATA ODD on Intel 100 Series motherboards.
Notice:
- The USB storage requires 8 GB or more capacity, and the Win7 Smart Tool will format the target USB storage.
- The Windows system must have at least 8 GB of free space.
- Please do not move the USB storage device when creating the file.
2. Main Menu & Process
The tool supports various models including W151, W177, S117-RT, T111.
Creating a Bootable Win 7 Installation USB Storage Device:
Step 1: Choose source folder.
- Select the radio button for 'Source folder' and browse to the location of your Windows 7 OS source files.
- Optionally, select 'Add USB drivers' if needed.
Step 2: Choose storage device.
- Select the radio button for 'USB storage'.
- Choose the target USB storage device from the dropdown list (e.g., JetFlash Transcend 16GB USB Device).
- Alternatively, select 'ISO destination' and specify a path (e.g., C:\) for the ISO file.
Click the 'Start' button to begin the file creation process.

The USB storage device is now ready for Win7 installation.
Creating an ISO Win7 Installation File:
Choose either a folder or SATA ODD which contains the Win7 OS source file.
Step 1: Choose source folder.
- Select 'Source folder' and specify the path (e.g., E:\).
- Optionally, select 'Add USB drivers'.
Step 2: Choose storage device.
- Select 'ISO destination'.
- Specify the drive and path for the ISO file (e.g., C:\).
Click 'Start' to create the ISO file.

The ISO file is now ready. Please burn the ISO file into a DVD disk and use the DVD disk to install Win7.
Adding USB Drivers:
This feature helps enable USB keyboard/mouse functionality for your existing Win7 USB bootable pen drive.
- Select 'Add USB drivers' in the tool.
- Plug in the bootable Win 7 USB pen drive and click to locate the device.
- Click 'Start' to add drivers to the USB pen drive.
