This manual provides essential information for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of your LG Fridge & Freezer.
Safety Instructions
General Safety Guidelines: Read all instructions before use. Follow basic precautions to reduce the risk of explosion, fire, death, electric shock, injury, or scalding.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, unless supervised.
- This appliance is intended for household and similar applications.
- Do not use in portable or mobile installations (e.g., RVs).
- Warning: Indicates potential for serious injury or death.
- Caution: Indicates potential for minor injury or product damage.
- Flammable Materials: Be aware of flammable materials and potential sources of ignition. The appliance uses isobutane refrigerant (R600a), which is combustible.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the power cord is not damaged and the outlet socket is not loose. Use a properly grounded outlet. Never unplug by pulling the power cable.
- Ventilation: Keep ventilation openings clear of obstructions.
- Cleaning: Disconnect the power cord before cleaning. Do not use flammable substances or abrasive cleaners.
- Servicing: Only qualified LG Electronics service personnel should disassemble or repair the appliance.
Installation
Before Installation:
- Dimensions and Clearances: Allow over 50 mm clearance from each adjacent wall for proper freezing capability and energy efficiency.
- Ambient Temperature: The appliance is designed to operate within specific ambient temperature ranges depending on the climate zone (SN, N, ST, T).
Levelling the Appliance:
- If the appliance is unsteady or doors do not close easily, adjust the levelling legs. Turn the levelling leg clockwise to raise and counterclockwise to lower.
- Ensure the floor is firm and level.
Turning on the Power:
- Connect the power plug to a suitable outlet socket. Do not use multi-socket adapters or share the outlet with other appliances.
- Wait for the appliance to cool sufficiently before storing food.
Moving the Appliance for Relocation:
- Remove all food from the appliance.
- Fix the power plug securely.
- Tape parts like shelves and door handles to prevent them from falling.
- Move the appliance with at least two people, keeping it upright.
- Use floor protection (cardboard, mat, carpet) to prevent scratches.
- Do not move the appliance in zigzags.
Operation
Before Use:
- Clean the interior and exterior with warm water and mild detergent.
- Ensure doors are closed completely to prevent frost formation.
- Avoid opening doors for extended periods to maintain internal temperature.
- If the appliance is left empty, switch off, defrost, clean, and dry it, leaving the door open to prevent mold.
- Temperature fluctuations after defrosting are normal. Seal food to minimize impact.
Door Open Alarm: Sounds if the door is left open or not completely closed (available on some models).
Failure Detection: The appliance can automatically detect problems and display error codes. Contact LG Electronics customer information center if an error code appears.
Suggestion for Energy Saving:
- Keep inner parts in their original locations.
- Ensure space between stored foods for efficient air circulation.
- Store hot food only after it has cooled.
- Set appropriate freezer and fridge temperatures.
- Do not place food near the temperature sensor.
Storing Foods Effectively:
- Store food at the correct temperature.
- Use sealed containers for frozen and refrigerated food.
- Check expiration dates and storage instructions.
- Do not store food for long periods if it spoils easily at low temperatures.
- Freeze food in portion-sized quantities.
- Store raw meat and fish in sealed containers to prevent dripping.
- Avoid refreezing completely thawed food.
- Consume thawed food quickly.
- Cool hot food before storing.
- Do not overfill the appliance.
- Set appropriate temperatures to prevent freezing of food.
- Follow food manufacturer's storage instructions.
Maximum Freezing Capacity:
- Set the freezer to the coldest setting for maximum capacity.
- Use the 'Express Freeze' function for rapid freezing (switch on 7 hours prior to adding food).
- Store food in the top drawer for quicker freezing.
- Ensure all inner parts are inserted for better air circulation.
Freezing the Maximum Amount of Food:
- For large quantities, remove all freezer drawers except the bottom one and stack food directly in the compartment.

Exterior:
- InstaView™: Knock twice on the glass to turn the interior LED light on or off (available on some models).
Interior:
- LED Lamp: Interior lights up when the door is opened.
- Fridge Shelf: Stores refrigerated and fresh foods. Shelf height is adjustable.
- Food Cover: Covers the inside of the fridge.
- Fresh Zone™: Stores fruits and vegetables fresh (available on some models).
- Fresh Converter™: Acts as a chill compartment for meat, fish, and vegetables. Temperature can be adjusted via a lever (available on some models).
- Movable Egg Tray: Stores eggs.
- Upper Door Basket: Stores small packages, drinks, and sauce containers.
- Lower Door Basket: Stores larger packages of refrigerated foods and drinks.
- Ice Tray: For manually produced ice (available on some models).
- Freezer Drawer: Stores frozen food for longer storage.
Control Panel
The control panel may be located on the fridge door or inside the fridge.
- Vacation Mode: Sets fridge to 7°C and freezer to -15°C for holidays. Other buttons are disabled.
- Freezer: Adjusts freezer temperature between -15°C and -23°C.
- Express Freeze: Quickly freezes large amounts of food or ice. Automatically terminates after a period. May increase noise and energy consumption.
- Fridge: Adjusts fridge temperature between 1°C and 7°C.
- Express Cool: Quickly cools large amounts of food.
- Wi-Fi: Connects the appliance to a home Wi-Fi network for LG ThinQ application features (available on some models).
InstaView™:
- Knock twice on the glass to turn the LED light on or off.
- The function may activate with loud noises.
- Clean the glass with a dry cloth or a slightly moistened cloth with water or glass cleaner.
Icemaker:
- Manually produces ice using the ice tray. Fill with potable water only.
Maintenance
General Cleaning Tips:
- Avoid manual defrosting while food is stored.
- Regularly clean surfaces that come in contact with food.
- Do not use abrasive or flammable cleaning agents.
- Check the power cable for damage after cleaning.
Cleaning the Interior:
- Remove all food before removing shelves or drawers.
- Detach shelves and drawers, clean with mild detergent, and dry thoroughly.
- Wipe door gaskets and seals with water and mild detergent.
- Clean door basket spills promptly.
- Do not clean shelves or baskets in a dishwasher or with hot water.
- The automatic defrost system keeps the compartment ice-free under normal conditions.
Cleaning the Exterior:
- Unplug the power cord before cleaning exterior vents.
- Regularly clean ventilation covers for efficient operation.
- Keep exterior air vents clean to prevent fire or damage.
- Use a soft cloth and mild detergent for the exterior. For stainless steel, wipe in the direction of the grain.
Cleaning the Condenser Cover:
- Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush to clean the condenser cover and vents (available on some models).
- Clean every 12 months for optimal performance.
Troubleshooting
Cooling Issues:
- No Refrigeration/Freezing: Check power, ensure appliance is plugged in, check fuses/circuit breakers.
- Poor Refrigeration/Freezing: Check temperature settings, ensure appliance is not in direct sunlight or near heat sources, cool hot food before storing, avoid overfilling, ensure doors are closed properly, check surrounding clearances.
- Bad Smell: Store strong-smelling foods in sealed containers, check for spoiled produce, ensure proper temperature settings.
Condensation & Frost:
- Condensation: Cool hot food, avoid leaving doors open, do not open doors too frequently, use sealed containers for moist food.
- Frost in Freezer: Ensure doors are closed properly, cool hot food, check for blocked air vents, avoid overfilling the compartment.
- Frost/Condensation Inside/Outside: Check installation environment humidity, avoid frequent door openings, ensure doors are properly closed.
Appliance Temperature:
- Side/Front Warm: Anti-condensation pipes may feel warm, which is normal.
- Water Inside/Outside: Check for leaks around the appliance or from thawed food/containers.
Parts & Features:
- Door Not Closed Tightly: Check if appliance is leaning forward, adjust front feet. Ensure shelves are properly assembled.
- Difficult to Open Door: Avoid closing the door with excessive force. Wait a few minutes after closing before opening to allow pressure to stabilize.
- Inside Lamp Not On: Close and re-open the door. If the lamp still does not turn on, contact LG Electronics customer information center. Do not attempt to remove the lamp.
Noises:
- Noisy/Abnormal Sounds: Ensure appliance is on a weak floor or improperly leveled. Check for objects behind or on top of the appliance.
- Clicking Noises: Normal during defrost cycle or thermostat operation.
- Rattling Noises: Ensure appliance is level. Check if the compressor is rattling; if it persists after 3 minutes, reset power.
- Whooshing Noises: Normal operation of the evaporator fan motor or condenser fan.
- Gurgling Noises: Normal operation of the cooling system.
- Popping Noises: Normal due to contraction/expansion of walls.
- Vibrating: Ensure sides/back do not touch walls/cabinets.
Wi-Fi Connectivity:
- Not Connected: Verify Wi-Fi password, turn off mobile data, ensure correct wireless network name (SSID), check router frequency (2.4 GHz supported), ensure adequate distance between appliance and router.
Smart Functions
LG ThinQ Application:
- Allows communication with the appliance via smartphone (requires Wi-Fi).
- Smart Diagnosis: Helps diagnose problems.
- Settings: Allows configuration of appliance and application options.
- Installation: Download the LG ThinQ app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Connect the appliance by following in-app instructions. Verify Wi-Fi connection via the indicator on the control panel.
- Open Source Software Notice: Information available at opensource.lge.com.
- Using LG ThinQ to Diagnose Issues: Launch the app and select Smart Diagnosis. Follow in-app instructions.
- Audible Diagnosis: Open fridge door, press 'Vacation' button, hold phone near ThinQ logo, press and hold 'Freezer' button for data transfer.
