Chapter 2 Module Setup

2.1 Installing MXM-A4500 Module

Step 1. Identify the MXM slot on the carrier board.

This chapter provides a step-by-step guide on how to install an MXM Module into a system that supports MXM Modules. Before proceeding, users should refer to the user manual of the MXM Module-supported system to remove the chassis cover and complete the installation of the MXM carrier board. In the following example, the system used is the GM-1100. The model numbers of the MXM Module, carrier board, and universal bracket referenced in this example are MXM-A4500, CB-DP04, and UB1329, respectively.

Carrier Board (Model No. CB-DP04)

System: GM-1100

MXM Slot: The slot used to connect the MXM Module (Model No. MXM-A4500).

Step 2. Apply thermal pads to chips and remove protective films.

Description of image: The MXM module PCB with thermal pads (red squares) being placed on the main NVIDIA GPU chip and memory chips. The right image shows the thermal pads correctly positioned.

Step 3. Insert the MXM Module into the slot at 45 degrees.

Description of image: A hand is shown inserting the MXM module into the carrier board slot at a 45-degree angle. Red arrows indicate the insertion direction.

Step 4. Attach the thermal block and fasten 7 screws (M3X10L).

Description of image: The thermal block is positioned over the MXM module, aligning screw holes. The right image shows the thermal block attached, with red circles highlighting the 7 screw locations for fastening.

Step 5. Paste two thermal pads on the thermal block and remove protective films.

Description of image: The thermal block with two large, light blue thermal pads applied to its surface.

Note (NOTE): ℹ️ Before assembling the system's chassis cover, please make sure the protective film on the Thermal Pad has been removed! (Avant d'assembler le capot du châssis du système, assurez-vous que le film protecteur du coussin thermique a été retiré!)

Step 6. Fix the accompanying bracket with 4x DP cutout using two screws.

Description of image: The bracket with four DisplayPort cutouts is shown being attached to the rear of the system using two screws. The "Cincoze" logo is visible on the bracket.
