Product Overview

The Generac RG Protector Series offers liquid-cooled gaseous engine standby generators designed for reliable power backup. This document provides detailed specifications, features, and installation guidance for models RG04845 (48 kW), RG06045 (60 kW), and RG08045 (80 kW).

Views and Dimensions

Top View: Shows radiator/exhaust discharge air on both sides, air intake on both sides. Includes indication for removing a cover for radiator fill cap access. Center of gravity is noted. Exhaust muffler is enclosed within the generator enclosure.

Left Side View: Displays overall length (2119 mm [83.4 in]), overall height (1211 mm [47.7 in]). Lists service items: Oil Fill Cap (Left Side), Oil Dip Stick (Left Side), Oil Filter (Left Side), Oil Drain Hose (Right Side), Radiator Drain Hose (Right Side), Coolant Recovery Bottle (Right Side), Radiator Fill Cap (Roof Top), Air Cleaner Element (Left Side), Spark Plugs (Left Side), Muffler (See Note 11), Drive Belt (Either Side), Battery (Left Side). Rear View: Shows circuit breaker access (See Note 3), rear enclosure cover panel (See Note 4), vice action latch (one per door), one lift-off door per side of generator. Includes dimensions for overall width and a specific dimension of 318.6 mm [12.54 in].

Installation Notes

  1. Minimum recommended concrete pad size is 6" offset of overall length and width of generator (1193.8 mm [47"] wide x 2423.2 mm [95.4"] long). Reference Installation Guide for pad guidelines.
  2. Allow sufficient room on all sides for maintenance and servicing. Install in accordance with NFPA 37, NFPA 70, and local codes.
  3. Control Panel / Circuit Breaker Information: See Specification Sheet or Owner's Manual. Accessible through customer access assembly door on rear.
  4. Remove rear enclosure cover panel to access stub-up areas for high voltage connection (AC load lead conduit, neutral, battery charger 120V AC), and low voltage connection (transfer switch control wires).
  5. Center of gravity and weight may change due to unit options.
  6. Bottom of generator set must be enclosed to prevent pest intrusion and recirculation of discharge air.
  7. Reference Owner's Manual for lifting warnings.
  8. Recommended mounting bolts: 1/2" diameter (use standard SAE torque specs).
  9. Must allow free flow of intake air, discharge air, and exhaust. See Spec Sheet for minimum air flow and maximum restriction requirements.
  10. Generator must be installed to ensure fresh cooling air availability and prevent radiator discharge air recirculation.
  11. Exhaust muffler enclosed within generator enclosure; remove front panel to access.
