Modèle Intérieur (Indoor Model)

Note: The indoor Pro-C is not weather-resistant and must be installed indoors or in a sheltered location.

  1. Choose a location near a standard electrical outlet, protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
  2. Mount the controller at eye level. Use the top mounting hole as a guide to securely fasten a 25 mm screw (A) into the wall. Use wall anchors if mounting on stone or masonry.
  3. Align the controller with the screw and slide the top opening (B) onto the screw.
  4. Secure the controller by inserting screws into the bottom holes (C).

Caution: Do not plug in the transformer until the controller is mounted and all valves are connected.

Modèle Extérieur (Outdoor Model)

Note: The outdoor model is weather-resistant. Electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician according to local codes. Improper installation can lead to electric shock or fire.

  1. Choose a location near a power source.
  2. Observe all electrical and installation codes when mounting to an exterior wall.
  3. Position the controller at eye level and align the top opening (A); mark this point and the three bottom holes (B).
  4. Drill a 6 mm hole at each mark.
  5. Install wall anchors (C) in the holes if mounting on stone, masonry, or plaster walls.
  6. Align the controller's mounting holes with the pilot holes or anchors.
  7. Insert screws into each hole and tighten securely, but do not overtighten.

Raccordement des Vannes et du Courant Secteur

This section details connecting valves and power.

Wiring Valves to AC Power:

  1. Route valve wires from the valve location to the controller.
  2. At the valves, connect a common wire (usually white) to one wire of each solenoid. Connect a separate control wire to the remaining wire of each valve. Use waterproof connectors for all splices.
  3. Open the controller's hinged front panel to access the terminals.
  4. Route valve wires through the conduit and secure it to the controller via the large opening on the right side at the bottom of the case. Refer to the conduit dimension table (page 32) if unsure about conduit size.
  5. Strip 13 mm of insulation from all wires. Securely connect the common valve wire to the 'C' (common) terminal on the first module. Connect individual valve control wires to the appropriate station terminals.

Note: It is generally recommended to connect all field wires before applying power to the controller.

Indoor Unit Transformer Connection:

Route the transformer cable through the left side of the controller and connect the wires to the marked 'AC' terminals. Ensure wires are neatly tucked into the slots before closing the compartment door to prevent damage.

Outdoor Unit Transformer Connection:

Hunter recommends professional installation for electrical connections. Route the AC power cable and conduit through the 13 mm conduit opening on the left side at the bottom of the housing. Connect the wires to the transformer wires in the junction box. International units have an integrated terminal block. Always use a UL-approved 13 mm conduit adapter for AC wiring. Insert the adapter (threaded end first) into the 13 mm hole at the bottom of the controller until it enters the wiring compartment. Secure the adapter nut inside the compartment.

Raccordement des Modules de Station (Station Module Connections):

The Pro-C comes with a base module supporting up to 3 stations. Additional 3-station modules can be added to expand capacity. Install modules with the controller powered off. Slide modules into sequential positions at the back of the controller; station numbers are indicated on the rear panel, not the modules. Restore power after installation; the microprocessor will recognize the new modules.

Raccordement de la Pile pour Programmation Sans Courant Secteur (Optional Battery Connection):

Connect a 9V alkaline battery (not included) to the battery terminals and place it in the battery compartment. This allows programming without AC power. Watering will not occur without AC power, but the non-volatile memory retains programming during power outages.

Raccordement d'une Vanne Maîtresse (Master Valve Connection):

Note: Only read this section if your system includes a master valve. A master valve is a normally closed valve at the main supply point that opens only when automatic watering is active.

  1. At the master valve, connect the common wire to one of the valve solenoid wires. Connect a separate control wire to the remaining solenoid wire.
  2. Route the wires to the controller via the field wire conduit.
  3. Connect one master valve wire to the P/MV terminal and the remaining wire to the 'C' (common) terminal.

Raccordement d'un Relais de Démarrage de Pompe (Pump Start Relay Connection):

Note: Complete these steps only if your system includes a pump and pump start relay. A pump start relay is an electronic device that uses a signal from the irrigation controller to activate a pump. The controller must be mounted at least 4.50 m from the pump and relay. Use a pump start relay when the controller operates a pump. Hunter offers a range of relays.

  1. Route a pair of wires from the pump relay into the controller housing.
  2. Connect one wire to the 'C' (common) terminal and the other wire to the P/MV terminal.

The relay's holding current should not exceed 0.28 amp. Do not connect the controller directly to the pump, as this can damage the controller.

Raccordement d'un Pluviomètre (Rain Sensor Connection - Not Supplied):

The Pro-C can connect to a Hunter Mini-Clik® or other micro-switch rain sensor. The sensor stops watering when natural precipitation is sufficient. It connects directly to the controller and can be bypassed using the controller's rain sensor switch.

  1. Route the sensor wires through the conduit used for valve wiring.
  2. Remove the jumper wire from the two SEN terminals.
  3. Connect each sensor wire to a SEN terminal.

Note: If the rain sensor switch is set to ACTIVE without a sensor connected and the jumper removed, the screen will display 'SEN OFF' and irrigation will not occur. To prevent this when no sensor is installed, set the switch to BYPASS or place a short jumper wire between the sensor terminals.

Raccordement du Programmateur SRP (SmartPort® Connection - Not Supplied):

The Hunter SRP (Simple and Reliable Programmer) allows downloading programs from a PC via the SmartPort® tool. Install the SmartPort® by following these instructions:

  1. Install a 13 mm female threaded 'T' fitting in the field wiring conduit, about 30 cm below the Pro-C.
  2. Route the red, white, and blue harness wires through the 'T' and into the wiring compartment.
  3. Screw the SmartPort® harness cover into the 'T'.
  4. Access the terminal strip and connect the red wire to the bottom 'AC' screw terminal, the white wire to the upper 'AC' screw terminal, and the blue wire to the 'REM' screw terminal. The SmartPort® is now ready for use.

Note: Extending SmartPort® wiring may cause an error message. Use shielded cable to minimize electrical noise. Order Hunter shielded SmartPort® wiring harness (Part No. SRR-SCWH) for 7.50 m of shielded cable.

Principes Fondamentaux d'un Système d'Arrosage

An automatic irrigation system consists of three main components: the controller, control valves, and sprinklers. The controller acts as the system's brain, commanding valves to supply water to sprinklers for specific durations. Sprinklers then distribute water to plants and lawns. Each valve controls a group of sprinklers, referred to as a watering station. Stations are configured based on regional vegetation, plant location, and maximum water capacity. All valves are wired to terminals inside the controller, corresponding to station numbers. The controller operates valves sequentially, moving to the next programmed station after the current one finishes. This sequence forms a watering cycle. The watering times and durations for each station constitute a program.

Example Station Descriptions:

  • Vanne 1 (Station 1): Rotors water the lawn in front of the house.
  • Vanne 2 (Station 2): Sprinklers water the side lawn, and bubblers water flowers.
  • Vanne 3 (Station 3): Rotors water the lawn behind the house.
  • Vanne 4 (Station 4): Bubblers water the garden.
  • Vanne 5 (Station 5): Sprinklers water the side lawn, and bubblers water flowers.
  • Vanne 6 (Station 6): Sprinklers water the corner lawn in front of the house.

Principes de Programmation

Effective automatic operation requires three key settings: Cycle Start Times (when to water), Run Times (how long to water), and Days to Water (which days of the week). The Pro-C offers flexibility with up to four daily start times per program and three independent programs (A, B, C), allowing for different watering needs. A 365-day calendar clock accommodates odd/even day restrictions without monthly reprogramming. Interval watering is also supported.

Example Watering Schedule:

If a program is set for a 6:00 AM start time:

  • Station 1 waters for 15 minutes, then stops.
  • Station 2 automatically starts and waters for 15 minutes, then stops.
  • Station 3 starts and waters for 20 minutes, then stops.

Stations 4, 5, etc., if not programmed in this cycle, will be skipped. The program concludes at 6:50 AM. A single program can manage multiple stations, and the controller advances sequentially.

Création de Votre Plan d'Arrosage

It is recommended to prepare a watering plan in writing before programming the controller. Consider factors like soil type, plant needs, weather conditions, and sprinkler types. General guidelines suggest watering one to two hours before sunrise for optimal water pressure and absorption, minimizing evaporation and disease risk. Ensure proper watering levels; overwatering causes puddles, while underwatering leads to discoloration and dryness. Adjust programs accordingly.

To create your plan:

  • Numéro et emplacement des stations (Station Number and Location): List station numbers, locations, and plant types.
  • Jours d'arrosage (Watering Days): Specify days of the week, odd/even days, or intervals. Circle chosen days or enter interval numbers.
  • Départs de cycle (Cycle Start Times): Indicate the start time for each program (up to 4 per program).
  • Temps d'arrosage (Run Times): Set watering duration (1 minute to 6 hours) for each station. Use 'ARRÊT' (OFF) for stations not participating in a program.

Keep your plan in a safe place for future reference.
