Turntable Unit Components: Controls and Connections: Diagram Description: A top-down view of the turntable shows the turntable deck (1), turntable shaft (2), center hole adaptor (3), tone arm (4), cuing lever (5), tone arm clip (6), turntable speed selector (7), auto stop control switch (8), and LED power indicator (9). Controls on the unit include a power switch/volume control (10), headphone jack (11), and stylus (12). The case has a lock catch (13), carrying handle (14), and speakers (15). Rear connections include Aux in jack (16), Line out channel R/L (17), and DC in jack (18). Note: Some records have a larger centre hole, and it may be necessary to fit the centre hole adaptor to the turntable shaft before placing the record on the turntable. Always refit the stylus cover and secure the turntable arm using the clip before moving the turntable. Diagram Descriptions: Auxiliary analogue audio equipment can be connected and amplified via the turntable. A stereo headphone jack has been provided so that the turntable can be used without disturbing others. Plug in the headphones at the point marked "HEADPHONE" near the volume knob and adjust the listening volume to your chosen level. Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss. The turntable speakers will not operate when earphones are fitted. If connecting the turntable to external speakers (via a suitable amplifier), use a twin phono to twin phono lead (not included) to connect the RCA output jacks to the AUDIO IN of the amplifier (see Fig. 5). Ensure red plugs are inserted into the red sockets and white into white. Diagram Description (Fig. 5): Diagram shows connections for external speakers. It illustrates the Aux In, Line Out (R/L), and DC-9V ports on the turntable. A twin phono to twin phono lead connects the turntable's Line Out to the external amplifier's Audio In. Diagram Descriptions (Figs. 6-8): Diagrams illustrate stylus replacement. Fig. 6 shows removing the stylus. Fig. 7 shows the old stylus. Fig. 8 shows aligning and clipping in the new stylus with guide pins. Wipe external surfaces with a soft cloth. If the case is very dirty, unplug from the mains supply and use a damp cloth soaked in a weak solution of washing up liquid and water. Allow to dry thoroughly before reusing. Diagram Descriptions (Figs. 9-10): Fig. 9 shows how to hold a record by the label or edge. Fig. 10 shows wiping a record in a circular motion with an anti-static cloth. Hold records by the label or edges (refer to Fig. 9). Oils from clean hands can leave a residue on the record surface that will gradually deteriorate the quality of your record. Keep records in a cool, dry place and store them in their sleeves and jackets when not in use. Store records upright (on their edges). Records stored horizontally will eventually bend and warp. Do not expose records to direct sunlight, high humidity, and high temperatures. Long exposure to high temperatures will warp the record. Should the record become dirty, gently wipe the surface in a circular motion using a soft anti-static cloth (refer to Fig. 10), suitable for this application.
