Exercise Guidelines
Using the REGENERATING MAGNETIC RECUMBENT BIKE can provide several benefits, including improved physical fitness, muscle toning, and weight loss when combined with a calorie-controlled diet.
1. The Warm-Up Phase
This phase helps get the blood flowing and muscles working properly, reducing the risk of cramp and muscle injury. Perform a few stretching exercises, holding each stretch for approximately 30 seconds. Do not force or jerk muscles into a stretch; if it hurts, STOP.
Stretches include: Side Bends, Forward Bends, Outer Thigh, Inner Thigh, Calf / Achilles.
2. The Exercise Phase
This is where you exert effort. Regular use will make leg muscles more flexible. Maintain a steady tempo. The rate of work should be sufficient to raise your heart rate into the target zone shown on the graph. This stage should last a minimum of 12 minutes, though most people start at about 15-20 minutes.
The graph shows Heart Rate (80-200 bpm) against Age (20-75 years), indicating the Target Zone (70%-85% of Maximum Heart Rate) and Cool Down.
3. The Cool Down Phase
This stage allows your cardio-vascular system and muscles to wind down. Repeat the warm-up exercises, reducing tempo for approximately 5 minutes. Remember not to force or jerk muscles into stretches.
As you get fitter, you may train longer and harder. It is advisable to train at least three times a week, spacing workouts evenly.
Muscle Toning
To tone muscle, set the resistance quite high. This will put more strain on leg muscles and may limit training duration. For improved fitness, alter your training program by increasing resistance towards the end of the exercise phase, making legs work harder. Reduce speed to keep heart rate in the target zone.
Weight Loss
The key factor is the amount of effort. Working harder and longer burns more calories. This is effectively the same as training to improve fitness; the difference is the goal.
