Initial Setup and Maintenance Check Before Each Ride
- Ensure the bike is turned off before charging. Charge the battery to full before first use. The charger light changes from red to green when fully charged. The charger only works when plugged into the battery and then switched on at the wall socket.
- Check tyre pressure and ensure it is pumped to the specification indicated on the tyre wall. Do not exceed the maximum specified pressure.
- Check and tighten all nuts and bolts across the bike, including: Front & Rear Wheel - Axles / Hubs / Spokes; Brake Disc Rotor Bolts Front & Rear; Brake Callipers Front & Rear; Handlebars; Forks; Crank; and general bike bolts.
- Check that brake levers, display, buttons, and bells on the handlebars are firm. Do not over-tighten plastic components like the display, as this can cause damage.
- Perform a brake test by holding the levers on to ensure no loss of pressure.
- Ensure the battery is securely fastened in place using the key lock mechanism before riding.
- Ensure the master switch on the battery is ON before powering up the bike using the ON button on the handlebars.
- Ensure the bike chain has adequate lubricant and is free of debris.
- Check the battery terminal contacts for damage, burn marks, foreign objects, or signs of arcing before each battery fitting.
- Ensure the bike's load does not exceed the specified weight limit of 180kg.
- Check weather conditions are favourable for riding and avoid adverse conditions such as rain, strong winds, or extreme temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius.
- Avoid terrain that may cause extreme vibrations to the battery pack, as this is not a mountain bike.
- Examine the frame and wheels of the bike for any signs of cracks, weathering, or corrosion.
- To clean your bike, remove the battery and use a damp cloth, avoiding any electrical components. Allow the bike to dry completely before use.

WARNING: Do not dispose of this vehicle or its components in household or kerbside garbage bins. Check applicable local waste and disposal laws.
Step #1 - Installing Handlebars and Pedals
Once your bike is unboxed and on its wheels, the first items to fit are the handlebars and pedals.
Handlebars
Watch the instructional video here.
- Remove the black rubber cap and hex socket screw from the fork steering tube before sliding on the stem and handlebars. Reinstall the hex socket screw and tension it once the bars are aligned and straight.
- Tighten the 2 stem hex socket screws on each side of the stem until firm. Tension each screw multiple times to ensure even tension.
- Check and tighten the 4 handlebar bolts in a diagonal series (e.g., bottom left > top right > top left > bottom right), repeating once more until completely firm. This ensures even distribution of force for the clamp.
- Plug the screen cable into the wiring harness if required.
Pedal Installation – All Models
When installing the pedals, look for the "L" and "R" markings. "L" is for the LEFT side and "R" is for the RIGHT side.
NOTE: The left pedal is reverse-threaded, meaning it tightens in the opposite direction. Check the thread direction before fitting to avoid damage.
Step #2 - Turning Your Bike On
On the battery pack, turn the switch to the 'ON' position (Bagus models may not have a switch). To start the bike, hold down the 'POWER' button on the display for 3 seconds.
Note: Batteries left in the 'ON' position when the bike is powered down via the display will isolate after 30 minutes to conserve power. You will need to switch the isolator OFF and ON again before powering up.
Illustration shows the Fatboy e-bike display unit and battery pack. The display shows "09:20 AM", "41.0v" (battery voltage), "KM/H" (speed unit), "10.8" (current speed), "45" (likely max speed or limit), "0x100w" (power output), "2" (assist level), "5" (gear), "TRIP", "TIME", "0.0KM" (trip distance), and "00:27:03" (trip time). It also indicates "Intelligent".

Pedal Assist
Use the display keypad on your handlebars to set your bike's assist level. The [+] and [-] buttons increase or decrease pedal assist. Levels range from 0 (no motor assistance) to 9 (maximum motor power assist). Level 0 also deactivates the throttle.
Gears
Never engage gears when not pedaling. For starting on a hill or from a slower position, use a lower gear (gear 1 is recommended). For higher speeds, use seventh gear (gear 7).
Understanding Transmission & Gears
For climbing steep hills, decrease the Pedal Gear Level to 1 and increase the motor assist to level 9 for easier riding. This utilizes pedal power to assist the motor for maximum rear-wheel power output. For maximum speed, use Pedal Gear Level 7 and motor assist level 9. To maximize battery range, use lower motor assist levels. Always ensure your bike pedals are in operation when changing gears.
If your bike struggles to change gears or jumps between gears, it may need servicing and derailleur adjustment.
Brakes
Fatboy bikes are equipped with front and rear hydraulic disc brakes. Both brakes feature Electronic Cut Off Controllers, which deactivate the bike's motor when the brakes are engaged for enhanced safety.
To engage the front wheel brake, use the lever on the right handlebar. To engage the rear wheel brake, use the lever on the left handlebar. To avoid flipping, slipping, or injury, never use the front brake when turning or traveling downhill.
Display
The 'M' (MODE) button on your display allows you to cycle through bike status information such as ODO, Current Speed, AVG Speed, and Trip. The [+] and [-] buttons adjust the motor pedal assistance level. Holding the [-] button activates the hill start mode, providing motor assistance when starting on an incline.
Fatboy Bikes Pty Ltd | www.fatboybikes.com.au
Lights
To switch on your headlight, hold down the [+] button on the display. Brake lights at the rear are integrated into the battery and activate automatically when the brake is applied. Some Fatboy Bike displays have a light sensitivity device that automatically switches the headlight on at night. To deactivate this feature, hold the plus button or adjust in the screen settings.
Throttle
If your Fatboy Bike is equipped with a throttle, it features an on/off switch. Check local state laws for throttle legality.
Step #3 - Record Your Serial Number & Register Your Bike
Once your bike is set up and ready to go, scan your QR code from your welcome booklet and register your new Fatboy Bike for warranty. Record your bike's serial number, typically found imprinted on the handlebar stem. This number is essential for warranty registration and useful for identification in case of theft.
