This document provides instructions for the Uncanny Brands Star Wars R2-D2™ Two Slice Toaster. It includes important safety information, operating procedures, and care instructions.
Important Safeguards
- READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against risk of electric shock, do not put toaster, cord or plug in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to an authorized service facility for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
- The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the Uncanny Brands manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or injury and voids warranty.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces, including the stove.
- Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off pad and touch electrical parts resulting in risk of electric shock.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
- Do not use appliance for anything other than its intended use.
- Oversize foods, foil packages, or utensils must not be inserted in a toaster because they may cause a fire or electrical shock.
- Do not operate toaster in an enclosed space, such as an appliance cabinet, caddy, garage, or other storage area.
- A fire may occur if toaster is covered or touching flammable materials, including curtains, draperies, walls, etc., when in operation.
- Failure to clean crumb tray may result in a fire hazard.
- Do not attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged in.
- Do not place pastry items with runny-type frosting or open filling in toaster.
- When heating toaster pastries, always use the lightest toast color setting.
- To protect against risk of fire, do not put rice cakes in this toaster.
- This appliance is intended for household use only and not for commercial or industrial use.
- Do not leave appliance unattended while in use.
- To disconnect, turn any control to “off” or “cancel", then remove plug from the wall outlet.
- Do not use this appliance as a toy.
- This is an electronic appliance, not a toy! To avoid risk of fire, burns, personal injury and electric shock it should not be played with or placed where small children can reach it. Not appropriate for use by children 12 years of age and younger.
Before Your First Use
Carefully unpack the Toaster and remove all packaging materials. To remove any dust that may have accumulated during packaging, simply wipe the Toaster exterior with a clean, damp cloth. Dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleansers. Do not immerse the Toaster, cord or plug in water or any other liquid.
Main Components
The R2-D2™ Toaster features a design inspired by the iconic Star Wars droid. Key components include:
- Bread Slots: Two slots for inserting bread slices.
- Toasting Lever: Lowers bread into the toaster and starts the toasting cycle. It locks into place when the toaster is plugged in.
- Shade Selector Dial: Located at the back of the toaster, this dial controls the browning level from light to dark.
- Cancel Button: Stops the toasting cycle immediately and raises the toast.
- Bagel Button: Adjusts toasting time for bagels and English muffins, toasting them more thoroughly.
- Removable Crumb Tray: Located at the bottom, this tray collects crumbs and should be emptied regularly.
Operation
Selecting Toast Color
The Shade Selector Dial is located at the back of your Toaster. Turn the dial to the left for lighter toasting or to the right for darker toasting. For the first toasting, it is recommended to position the dial in the middle (vertical) and adjust to your preference for subsequent uses.
Toasting
- Place your Toaster on a flat, dry, level surface and plug it into a working outlet.
- Insert one slice of bread into each slot.
- Press the Toasting Lever downward until it locks into place. This lowers the bread and begins the toasting cycle. The toast will pop up automatically when it reaches the selected color. (For best results, allow the toaster to cool for one or two minutes between toasting cycles).
- NOTE: The Toasting Lever will not lock into place if the toaster is unplugged. Lights and sound will engage for the first 10 seconds and the last 10 seconds of the toasting cycle.
- The Bagel button is used to toast items such as bagels or English muffins. These are often thicker and take longer to toast than regular bread. When this feature is selected, the toaster will adjust the toasting time accordingly.
- Should you desire to stop the toasting before reaching the selected color, press the Cancel button, and the toast will pop up.
- When you press the Toasting Lever down or use the Cancel Button, you may notice a small flash of light in the toast slot at the end opposite the toasting control. This flash of light, caused when the power switch opens and closes, is normal with any high-wattage appliance.
- Push the toasting lever up to remove smaller slices of bread.
- Unplug toaster when not in use.
Removing Lodged Toast
If a piece of toast becomes lodged in the Toaster, unplug the Toaster and allow it to cool. Turn the Toaster upside down, and gently shake the toast loose.
WARNING: Never use a fork or sharp-edged utensil to remove toast as it may damage the heating element or cause injury.
Cleaning and Care
Be sure the Toaster is unplugged and completely cooled before cleaning. Wipe the Toaster exterior with a clean, damp cloth. Dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleansers. Do not immerse Toaster, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
Removable Crumb Tray
The Removable Crumb Tray is located on the bottom of your Toaster. Pull out the Crumb Tray. We recommend emptying crumbs over a sink or waste bin as crumbs will fall when the Crumb Tray is released.
NOTE: Empty the Crumb Tray after every use to prevent the hazard of fire.
WARNING: Never operate the Toaster without the Crumb Tray properly in place.
When replacing the Crumb Tray, make sure it is correctly aligned before sliding it back into place.
