NOTE: The data above has been measured in accordance with the international flashlight testing standards ANSI/NEMA FL1, using 1 x 18650 battery (3.7V, 2600mAh) under laboratory conditions. The data may vary in real-world use due to different battery use or environmental conditions.
Operating Instructions
Battery Installation
Insert 1x18650 battery or 2xCR123 batteries as illustrated. [Illustration shows correct battery insertion for 18650 and CR123 batteries.]
NOTE: After loading batteries, the blue power indicator will flash to indicate battery voltage. Please refer to the "Power Tips" section of this manual for details.
WARNING:
- Ensure batteries are inserted with the positive (+) ends pointing to the head. The MH12 will not operate with incorrectly inserted batteries.
- Avoid direct eye exposure to the beams.
Momentary Illumination
Press the tail cap switch halfway to switch the light on. Simply release to switch the light off.
ON/OFF
To switch ON: Press the tail cap switch all the way down until a "click" is heard.
To switch OFF: Press the tail cap switch all the way down again until a "click" is heard.
Brightness Levels
With the MH12 switched on, press the mode switch repeatedly to cycle through brightness levels of ultra-low, low, medium and high.
Note: When in high output, the MH12 will reduce output luminance automatically after 3 minutes of use to prevent overheating and extend battery longevity.
Special Modes (Strobe/SOS/Location Beacon)
When the light is on, press and hold the mode switch for over one second to enter strobe mode; when in strobe mode, press and hold the mode switch for over one second again to cycle through SOS, location beacon and strobe modes. To exit and revert to the brightness level last used, simply press the mode switch.
Note: The MH12 has memory effect to ensure direct access to the previously used brightness level and strobe when it is resumed.
Charging Function
The MH12 is capable of charging one 18650 Li-ion battery with the included USB charging cable. Press the tail switch, and then connect the USB cable to the MH12's charging port and a power source (USB chargers, PC or other power terminals) as shown in the adjacent image. Fully charging one depleted 18650 battery takes approximately 6 hours.
Under normal charging conditions, the blue power indicator light will illuminate steadily to notify users. When charging is complete, the MH12 will terminate the charging process automatically and the blue power indicator goes out.
Note: 1. The MH12 charges 1x18650 Li-ion battery only. 2. In order to enter charging mode, switch on the MH12 before charging.
[Illustration shows a NITECORE flashlight connected via a USB cable to a power source.]
Power Tips
1. When the light is on, the power indicator will blink once every two seconds when power level drops to 50%; the power indicator will blink quickly when power level is low.
2. When the light is off, press tail cap switch with the mode switch being held to activate the power indicator light to indicate battery voltage (accurate to ±0.1V). For example, when the battery voltage is at a maximum charge of 4.2V, the power indicator will blink 4 times, followed by a one second pause and 2 more blinks before entering the previously used brightness. Different voltages represent the corresponding remaining battery power levels:
Battery | Voltage | Power Output |
---|---|---|
1 x 18650 battery | 3.5V (Low power) | Low power |
1 x 18650 battery | 3.7V (Low power) | Low power |
1 x 18650 battery | 3.9V (Full power) | Full power |
1 x 18650 battery | 4.2V (Full power) | Full power |
2 x CR123 batteries | 4.8V | Low power |
2 x CR123 batteries | 5.6V | Low power |
2 x CR123 batteries | 6.0V | Full power |
2 x CR123 batteries | 6.4V | Full power |
[Diagram illustrates battery voltage levels corresponding to different power outputs for 1x 18650 battery and 2x CR123 batteries.]
Changing Batteries
Batteries should be recharged or replaced when any of the followings occurs: The power indicator blinks rapidly, output appears to be dim or the flashlight becomes unresponsive.
Maintenance
Every 6 months, threads should be wiped with a clean cloth followed by a thin coating of silicon-based lubricant.
