CHAPTER 3. Overview

ARTICAL 11 Working Principle

ANTRACK is designed for BITMAIN's water-cooled high-performance computing servers, providing integrated deployment, power supply, and network exchange. It features an integrated air-cooled heat exchanger for liquid cooling within the rack, enabling integrated operation. It also supports liquid-liquid heat exchange for utilizing waste heat or external cold sources.

ARTICAL 12 System composition

ANTRACK comprises a rack body, electric control box, water-cooled heat exchanger, air-cooled heat exchanger, liquid pump, liquid cooling circulation piping, coolant tank, and fans.

  1. Rack body: Houses the electric control box, water-cooled heat exchanger, and other components, providing space for servers. Designed for integrated product transportation and handling.
  2. Electric control box: Manages main input power, liquid pump, and fan distribution. Adjusts fan operation based on liquid temperature sensors. Configured with distribution and network switches for server power and network exchange.
  3. Water cooled heat exchanger: An efficient heat exchanger for liquid-liquid heat exchange. Connects to external cooling water sources to remove heat from servers, enabling waste heat recovery or using cooling towers as a heat source.
  4. Air cooled heat exchanger: Dissipates heat from the liquid cooling cycle using air cooling. Works with fans to cool the coolant and expel hot air.
  5. Liquid pump: Provides circulating power and flow for the coolant in the liquid cooling cycle.
  6. Liquid cooling circulation piping: Connects servers, pump, heat exchangers, and coolant tank to form a circulation system.
  7. Coolant tank: Used for adding and replenishing coolant during installation and operation.
  8. Fans: Draw air from the front and sides for the air-cooled heat exchanger and expel hot air from the rear.

ARTICAL 13 Operation mode

ANTRACK operates in two modes: air-cooled and water-cooled.

Shutdown state: Turn off all electrical switches, discharge, and recover coolant from the drain valve when ANTRACK is not in use.

ARTICAL 14 Working principle

The principle diagram of the ANTRACK liquid cooling system is as follows:

Exhaust and liquid cooling cycles: After placing ANTRACK, close the drain valve, add ~20L of coolant to the tank, and install servers. Connect server inlet/outlet pipes, open relevant valves. Initial automatic exhaust takes ~5min. Further exhaust can be done by cycling the liquid pump ON/OFF (30s ON, 1min OFF for 3 cycles). After exhaust, the pump circulates coolant through the system.

Coolant specifications: Recommended coolant is antifreeze with a freezing point of -25°C and pH 7.8-8.5. Do not use tap water, lake water, or coolant with pH below 7.5 or containing impurities.

The coolant box has a level switch that disconnects main power if the level is too low.

Air cooling mode operation: When not connected to an external cooling water source, ANTRACK uses air cooling. Fans draw air from the front and sides, cool the coolant, and expel hot air. Fan operation is controlled by coolant temperature.

Water-cooled mode operation: Connects to an external cooling water source. External water removes heat via the water-cooled heat exchanger. Water quality requirements: pH 6-8, Cl ≤50 ppm, Sulfate ion ≤30mg/L, Ammonia ion ≤0.1mg/L. Use a 30-60 mesh water filter.

CHAPTER 4. Installation

ARTICAL 15 Open the package and check

Remove outer packaging and inspect the ANTRACK for any damage to the exterior, coolant tank cover, and connectors. Report any damage to the shipping company immediately.

ARTICAL 16 Installation Precautions

Install the equipment correctly to ensure optimal working conditions and service life. Verify the installation environment meets requirements. The cabinet should be in a building free of water and dust. Maintain at least 1m of air and maintenance space in front and behind the rack. Provide a 400V63A3P power supply switch and a three-phase, five-wire power supply cable for each rack. Ensure suitable power distribution cabinets and cable routing facilities. Network cables should connect to the network switch and the electric control box. If producing hot water or using an external cooling tower, pipeline construction design is required. Ensure proper ventilation in air-cooling mode to prevent hot air recirculation. On-site cable materials and construction must comply with local safety regulations.
