Stool Sampling Tube Construction
The stool sampling tube consists of the following parts:
- Yellow component: Dosing rod with a click-in lock.
- Blue component: Conic insert used to wipe off excess stool.
- A yellow label is present on the tube.
- The dosing tip features grooves for collecting the sample.
Instructions for Stool Sampling
Step 1: Pull out the dosing rod
Hold the stool sample tube firmly by the blue conic insert. Ensure the blue conic insert remains closed on the stool sample tube. Unscrew and pull out the yellow dosing rod. Important: Do not pour out the liquid (buffer) from the stool sampling tube.
Step 2: Take stool sample
Using the dosing rod, pierce the stool sample at three different locations. The grooves on the dosing tip should fill with the stool sample.
Step 3: Return dosing rod
Insert the dosing rod, with the stool sample attached, back into the stool sampling tube only once. Do not pull it out again. Excess stool will be wiped off at the narrow opening of the blue conic insert. Note: Only this small, defined amount of stool on the dosing rod should enter the inside of the stool sampling tube.
Step 4: Close the stool sampling tube
Turn the dosing rod to close it until the click-in lock audibly engages. Note: The stool solution inside the tube will change color very little. If the dosing rod is inserted more than once, or too much stool is collected, the solution may turn brown, rendering the sample unmeasurable or leading to a false positive result.
Step 5: Packaging
Place the filled stool tube into the provided transport tube and close it securely.
Step 6: Shipping the sample
Pack the transport tube and the completed request form into the return envelope. It is recommended to hand this in at a post office. Important: Please do not send samples on Fridays, weekends, or before public holidays.
