Important Instructions
When using electrical appliances, follow basic precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury:
- Read all instructions before using this heater.
- This heater is hot when in use. Avoid burns by not letting bare skin touch hot surfaces. Use the handle at the top of the back side when moving. CAUTION - HIGH TEMPERATURE: Keep combustible materials (drapes, furnishings) and electrical cords away from the heater.
- Exercise caution when any heater is used by or near children or invalids, and whenever the heater is left operating unattended.
- Always unplug the heater when not in use or before cleaning.
- Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug, or after it malfunctions, has been dropped, or damaged. Return to an authorized service facility for examination or repair.
- Do not use outdoors.
- This heater is not intended for use in wet or moist locations. Never locate it where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.
- Do not run the cord under carpeting or cover it with throw rugs. Arrange the cord away from traffic areas to prevent tripping.
- To disconnect, turn the control to OFF, then remove the plug from the outlet.
- Connect only to properly grounded outlets.
- Do not insert foreign objects into any ventilation or exhaust opening, as this may cause electrical shock, fire, or damage.
- To prevent fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust. Do not use on soft surfaces like beds where openings may become blocked.
- The heater has hot and arcing/sparking parts inside. Do not use in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
- Use this heater only as described in this manual. Other uses may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.
- If using an extension cord, it must be 14 AWG minimum size and rated not less than 1500 watts.
- SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
Operating Instructions
Modes of Operation:
- A. AUTOMATIC mode: Maintains a constant room temperature by continuously varying heat delivery without cycling.
- B. MANUAL mode: Provides manual control of fan speed. In HEAT mode, power output can be estimated from the unit label. In FAN position, it provides non-heated air circulation.
- C. TEMPERATURE/SPEED CONTROL: Dial to set desired room temperature (AUTOMATIC) or fan speed (MANUAL).
- D. HEAT: Switch to HEAT and adjust the TEMPERATURE/SPEED control.
- E. FAN: Switch to FAN for non-heated air circulation.
- F. OFF: Unit is off when the switch is in the middle position.
- G. REMOVABLE FILTER: Collects dust from circulating air. Rinse in warm water, dry completely, and reinstall. Clean regularly.
- H. TIP-OVER SWITCH: Automatically turns the fan off if the unit is tilted forward sufficiently.
Placement of Unit in Room: For efficient heating, place the unit on the floor with the sensor fully extended, approximately 2 feet away from any wall. The sensor on the cord determines the room temperature at its location; it does not sense temperatures elsewhere. If the thermostat is too close to cold drafts, the unit may operate continuously at maximum.
Storage: Coil the cord and secure it with the plastic fastener. Store the heater in its original packaging in a safe place to prevent damage to the connector and cord.
Cleaning Instructions
Regular Cleaning: As dust collects on the air filter at the rear of the unit, remove, rinse in warm water, allow to dry completely, and reinstall. Clean the filter regularly.
Vacuuming Heating Elements: Some dust may pass through the filter and collect on the ceramic heating elements. Clean regularly for optimum airflow and performance by following these steps:
- Disconnect power supply by removing the plug from the outlet.
- Loosen the screw on the backplate (do not remove).
- Turn, lift, and remove the backplate using the handle at the bottom.
- Connect a universal cleaning attachment (included with your Pelonis Disc Furnace) to your vacuum cleaner.
- Remove dust and dirt by gently inserting the vacuum attachment past the fan blades to the back of the heating discs.
- Re-install the backplate.
- Gently tighten the screw on the backplate.
WARNING: Do not use the unit in atmospheres containing Chlorine Gas, Sulphur Dioxide, Inert Gas, or other reducing gases. Such environments can cause obvious darkening/discoloration of the heating elements, leading to deterioration and potential arcing.

Customer Information and Energy Conservation
Your Pelonis Disc Furnace is designed to maintain a constant room temperature using its comfort control and patented electronic fan speed control with Positive Temperature Co-Efficient (PTC) heating elements for efficient and economical operation. As the room temperature approaches the set point, the furnace automatically reduces fan speed and power consumption.
Note on Operation: In cases of abrupt room temperature reduction, especially at low fan speeds, the heater may require several minutes to respond and increase heat output.
Thermostatically Controlled Model Operation:
- Temperature Sensor: The sensor probe on the cord must be fully extended to the rear to accurately sense incoming air temperature.
- Testing: For maximum heat flow, set the thermostat to 80°F. If set near the existing room temperature, the fan speed will be low with minimal heat output.
- Warm Case: During normal operation, the unit may run at higher fan speeds until the set temperature is reached. Once achieved, the fan speed decreases (approx. 200-400 RPM). The heating elements maintain a constant temperature (approx. 380°F), which can cause the unit's case to become warm or hot to the touch, but not burning hot. The unit can be safely picked up by its integral handle (top back lip).
Energy Conservation Tip: To maximize energy savings, reduce your main heating system's thermostat setting to lower levels (e.g., 55°-60°F) and use your Pelonis supplementary zone heater only in occupied rooms.
Your Pelonis heater operates with exceptional safety, automatically maintaining desired room temperatures for years of dependable service at a low operating cost.
