1. Adding and Configuring the Sylvac Widget
Users can add the Sylvac widget to their workflow and configure properties such as Decimal Places (ranging from 0-7, with a default of 2).
The interface allows for setting Minimum Number, Low Limit, Nominal Value, High Limit, Maximum Number, Unit, Default Text, and Decimal Places.
2. Bluetooth Connection Requirements
For Android Devices (Mobile/Tablet) and Sylvac Devices (e.g., Sylvac Caliper), Bluetooth must be enabled (ON).
Turning on the Bluetooth® radio on the Sylvac instrument:
- Press the Mode button until the menu «» is displayed.
- Enter the menu by pressing the Set button, then press it again to reach « n».
- Validate by pressing the Data button. The Bluetooth® radio will turn on.
Note: A blinking Bluetooth Symbol indicates the device is ready to connect. Once connected, the symbol will become steady.
3. Installing and Setting Up the Sylvac Anywhere App
- Open the Google Play Store, search for “Sylvac Anywhere”, and tap “Install”.
- After installation, open the Sylvac Anywhere app.
- Allow the necessary permissions to find nearby devices. After granting permission, tap the “Enter” button.
- Tap “OK” on the attention screen, which may display a pairing request. It is advised not to click any buttons during connection and let the application handle it.
Note: If a message prompts to pair the instrument with your device during connection, you can cancel or ignore it, as the application will manage the pairing.
4. Connecting Sylvac Devices
- The first screen displays a summary of connected instruments. To scan for new instruments, use the '+' button.
- Ensure your Sylvac instruments are reset before attempting to connect.
- If your instrument is IOT Ready, the application will ask for the connection mode before starting the connection.
- When connecting, you may see a pairing request. Do not click any buttons; allow the application to connect. If it's the first connection or the instrument has been reset, it may restart before connecting.
- Once your device is added, it will appear on the Sylvac Anywhere home screen.
- Completely close the Sylvac Anywhere app; do not leave it running in the background.
- Open the DigitalClipBoard App and choose your application and workflow. Allow the required permissions to find nearby devices.
5. Connecting Sylvac Widget with Sylvac Device
a. First-time Connection:
- If you have never connected to a Sylvac device with the DigitalClipBoard App before, the “Connect” button for the Sylvac widget will appear in red.
- Tap the “Connect” button. The app will scan for available Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices and list them with their names and addresses. Select your Sylvac device (likely starting with “SY”, e.g., SY295).
- The device will connect and attach to the widget. The status will display in green as “Connected [Device Name]” (e.g., “Connected SY295”).
b. Reconnecting to a Previously Used Device:
If you have previously connected or used a Sylvac device, the app will automatically connect to the last connected device, provided it is in range, paired, and its Bluetooth is on.
c. Changing Focus Between Widgets:
If you change the focus to another Sylvac widget while a device is connected, the status of the previously focused widget will change from “Connected” to “Connect”. The newly focused widget will then show “Connected [Device Name]”.
6. Taking Measurements
Once the device is connected, you can take measurements. Pressing the Data button on the Sylvac device will send the measurement/reading, which will then be displayed in the focused widget.
Device Buttons:
- DATA Button: Used to send measurements.
- MODE Button: Navigates through menus.
- SET Button: Enters menus or confirms selections.
7. Sylvac Widget Properties and Behavior
The Sylvac widget shares properties with the Decimal widget, including Minimum Number, Low Limit, High Limit, Maximum Number, and Decimal Places. It supports 0 to 7 decimal places.
The widget displays results based on the configured properties. Values outside the defined limits will trigger visual and auditory alerts:
- Within Limits: Green check mark ✔️ and a short beep.
- Above High Limit: Red color ? and an upward arrow ⬆️, with a buzzer sound.
- Below Low Limit: Red color ? and a downward arrow ⬇️, with a buzzer sound.
- Above Maximum Number: Red color ? with an error message and a prompt to re-enter data.
- Below Minimal Number: Red color ? with an error message and a prompt to re-enter data.
Note: Maximum and Minimum values are optional parameters.
8. Disconnecting the Sylvac Device
To disconnect the Sylvac device, tap on the status displaying “Connected [Device Name]”. A confirmation prompt will appear; tap “DISCONNECT” to confirm.
After disconnecting, you can connect to another device of the same type by following the connection steps starting from Step 13.
