Furman introduces the F1500-UPS, a battery backup designed exclusively for audio/video professionals and home theater aficionados. While traditional audio/video components were simpler analog devices, modern computer and microprocessor-based components are highly sensitive to power interruptions. Traditional UPS technology, primarily designed for the IT professional, often fell short for premium audio/video components. The Furman F1500-UPS addresses this gap, offering unparalleled battery backup technology engineered to meet the exacting demands of sensitive audio, video, and control systems.
Protection
Typical UPS systems use antiquated surge suppression technologies that can cause damage. Furman's F1500-UPS features road-proven SMP non-sacrificial, zero ground contamination surge suppression technology and EVS Extreme Voltage Shutdown. This ensures that the accompanying circuits are protected, allowing for years of trouble-free operation.
Filtration
While many control devices are immune to moderate AC line noise, sensitive devices like DLP projectors are not. High-definition technologies require pristine signal integrity. The F1500-UPS employs exclusive Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) to four discrete isolated outlet banks. This advanced noise filtering technology maintains ultra-wide dynamic range, ensuring greater content, resolution, and higher definition by reducing AC noise.

The F1500-UPS provides True Sine Wave output when operating on battery backup mode, ensuring the utmost reliability for all connected equipment.
Expandability
The F1500-UPS offers substantial backup time for critical digital A/V components. For increased capacity, 1500VA battery packs (BATT1500E-EXT) can be daisy-chained to double, triple, or further increase runtime.
Programmability & Control
The F1500-UPS provides flexibility for diverse audio/video systems. It offers open source RS-232 control over four independent AC outlet banks, with features for interfacing with existing control units. Dual programmable IR control allows for safe shutdown commands to remote components, preventing damage to sensitive equipment like projector bulbs during a blackout. An optional TCP/IP interface card (available Q4) enables remote control over any internet connection via a web-based graphical user interface, offering full remote control and power monitoring.
Typical Backup Components
Due to the nature of battery backup technology, high-current components like power amplifiers, powered subwoofers, and high-wattage displays are not recommended for use with the F1500-UPS.
