Fridababy 3-in-1 Ear, Forehead + Touchless Thermometer
USER MANUAL
INFRARED TEMP CHECKS IN 1 SEC
This ultimate multi-use infrared thermometer is here to deliver accurate temp checks in one second. The 3-in-1 Ear, Forehead + Touchless Thermometer has a color-coded screen and optional sound alarm to alert you when fevers spike. Seamlessly move from in-ear temp checks when baby’s awake, to stealth forehead temp checks while baby’s sleeping. In addition to tiny humans, this thermometer works on adults, and even reads surface temperatures in touchless mode -- like the bottle you’re about to feed your feisty freeloader.
Product Illustration
The thermometer features a forehead reader, an ear probe, a power/measure/mute/unmute button, a mode/memory button, a battery cover, and an LCD screen displaying current and previous temperature values, Fahrenheit/Celsius degrees, mode icons, and low battery indication.
Modes:
- Adult Forehead Mode
- Child Forehead Mode (under 12yr old)
- Ear Mode
- Object Mode
Directions
- Press the big Power/Measure button for 1 second to turn the thermometer on. The LCD screen will show the last measurement taken.
- Select your mode by following the directions for ear, forehead, or touchless use.
- Press and release the Power/Measure button for 1 second again.
- Once the beep is heard, you can read the value. “T” indicates a temperature reading.
- The device automatically shuts off after being unused for 10 seconds.
For Ear Use:
- Remove the forehead reader, automatically selecting Ear mode.
- Fit the probe snugly into the ear canal.
- For children under 1 year: Pull the ear straight back.
- For children over 1 year to adults: Pull the ear up and back.
- Ensure the ear canal is straight for the probe to receive an infrared ray from the eardrum.
- Warning: Ensure the ear is clean, with no earwax or obstructions. The right ear reading may differ from the left ear; always take the temperature in the same ear. Do not force the thermometer into the ear canal, as it may get injured. Be careful when taking the temperature on a child, whose ear canal is small. Do not insert past the point where you feel resistance.
For Forehead Use:
- With the forehead reader on, press the Mode/ Memory button to choose “Adult forehead mode” or “Child forehead mode”.
- Touch the forehead reader to the center of the forehead.
- Warning: The forehead measurement is an indicative reading. The measured forehead temperature can fluctuate up to 1°F/0.5°C from your actual body temperature. Factors influencing accuracy include hair, sweat, or dirt on the forehead; ensure the area is clean. Always check if the lens is clean. Ensure the user and thermometer have been in the same room for at least 30 minutes prior to measurement.
For Touchless Use:
- Note: This mode is ONLY for measuring the temperature of the room or an object. Not for body temp checks.
- Press the Mode/ Memory button to choose the house icon ?.
- Hold the thermometer about 1-3 cm (0.39-1.18 inches) away from the object.
Normal Body Temperature / Fever Indicator
Body temperature can vary from 97°F to 100.0°F and still be considered normal. The medically accepted “normal” body temperature is 98.6°F. Body temperature is commonly lower upon waking. Readings vary based on the body location point.
- Oral: 97°F (36.1°C) - 100°F (37.7°C) are normal.
- Rectal: Generally 1°F (0.5°C) higher than oral.
- Underarm (Axillary): 1°F (0.5°C) lower than oral.
A fever is defined as a body temperature elevated above the normal for that person. Tracking an individual’s temperature consistently at the same body site and time will help determine their normal temperature.
Temperature Reading Indicators:
- Normal: 89.6°F - 99.5°F (32°C - 37.5°C) - Green light, one long beep.
- Low fever: 99.7°F - 100.4°F (37.6°C - 38.0°C) - Orange light, 3 short double-beeps.
- High fever: 100.6°F - 109.2°F (38.1°C - 42.9°C) - Red light, 3 short double-beeps.
- Touchless (Room/Object): 32.0°F - 199.0°F (0°C - 100°C) - White light, one long beep.
When to Call a Doctor:
- Infants under 3 months: Temperature of 100.4°F (38.0°C) or higher.
- At any age: Fever rises above 104°F (40°C) repeatedly.
When to Take Multiple Measurements:
It is recommended to take 3-5 measurements in the same location and use the highest one as the reading in the following situations:
- Newborn infants in the first 100 days.
- Children under three years of age with a compromised immune system.
- When the user is learning to use the thermometer for the first time.
