Frequency Converter with Trip Values

KFD2-UFC-Ex1.D

Key Features

Function

The KFD2-UFC-Ex1.D is an isolated barrier designed for intrinsic safety applications. It functions as a universal frequency converter, transforming a digital input signal into a proportional analog output signal (0/4 mA ... 20 mA). It also serves as a switch amplifier and a trip alarm. The device offers adjustable switch outputs (two relay outputs and one potential-free transistor output) for functions like trip value display (min/max alarm), serially switched output, pulse divider output, and error signal output. Configuration can be done via the keypad or the PACTware software. Faults are indicated by LEDs according to NAMUR NE44, and a separate collective error message output is available.

Connection Diagram

The device features connections for Input I (intrinsically safe, terminals 1+, 3-) and Input II (non-intrinsically safe, terminals 13+, 14-). Outputs include Output I, II (terminals 10, 11, 12 and 16, 17, 18), Output III (terminals 19+, 20-), and Output IV (terminals 8+, 7-). The device is powered via 24 V DC from the Power Rail (terminals 23+, 24-).
