WARNING: If drilling is required, thoroughly read and understand all steps prior to drilling. Please drill holes from both sides to avoid splintering of the door face.
Preparation
Before installation, ensure all parts are present by comparing them with the 'Hardware Included' and 'Package Contents' lists. Installation Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Door
Set the Latch Backset: Ensure the backset of the lock matches your door's backset. The latch can be set for a 2-3/8 inch (60 mm) or 2-3/4 inch (70 mm) backset. An incorrect setting will prevent proper operation.
Attach the Faceplate: Secure the correct faceplate to the latch. Ensure it is oriented properly.
Door Drilling (New Installation): If your door does not have pre-drilled holes, use the provided template to mark the door. Drill a 2-1/8 inch (54 mm) diameter hole for the knob mechanism and a 1-inch (25 mm) diameter hole at the center of the door edge. Chisel out a 1/8 inch (3 mm) deep mortise for the faceplate.
Template Use: The template should be folded and placed on the door edge to accurately mark drilling locations. Double-check product specifications for correct hole sizes.
Step 2: Install Latch and Strike
Install Latch: Insert the latch into the edge of the door. Secure it using two 3/4 inch wood screws (AA). A wood block may be used for support if needed.
Install Strike Plate: Mount the strike plate onto the door frame. Secure it using two 3/4 inch wood screws (AA). Ensure the strike plate is aligned correctly so the latch bolt engages properly. For keyed latches, the security pin must rest on the strike plate when the door is closed.
Step 3: Install Knob/Lever Assemblies
Install Exterior and Interior Assemblies: Slide the exterior knob or lever assembly onto the spindle. Then, slide the interior knob or lever assembly onto the spindle from the other side. Secure each assembly using the appropriate screws (BB: 1-5/16 inch for knobs, 1-1/2 inch for levers).
Switching Handles (Optional): To swap handles, insert the key to unlock the outside lever. Press the 'pick-up pin' into the 'catch hole' on the lever's rose to release the lever from the spindle. Remove the pick-up pin as you pull the lever off. Repeat for the inside lever. To reattach, insert the desired lever over the spindle, aligning the hole on the lever shank with the catch hole on the rose, and press until secure.
Special Note for Privacy Function (Bed & Bath): These locks do not require a key. If accidentally locked from the inside, insert a coin or a flat piece of metal into the slot on the outside lever and turn clockwise to release the lock.
Care and Maintenance
To ensure a long-lasting finish, follow these instructions:
- Remove locks, or do not install locks, prior to painting your door.
- Periodically clean with mild soap and a soft cloth only. Do not use abrasives or harsh chemicals, and avoid sharp or scratching objects.
Lifetime Limited Warranty
The retailer warrants that this product, at its option, will be repaired or replaced if it proves to be defective due to improper workmanship or materials within the original purchaser's lifetime. To obtain warranty service, bring the product to the retailer's store where it was purchased. This limited warranty is exclusive to the original purchaser at retail. Except as prohibited by applicable law, no other warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, shall apply. Retailer shall not be liable for consequential or incidental damages. If applicable law prohibits the exclusion of implied warranties, their duration shall be the original purchaser's lifetime. Some states may not allow limitations on implied warranty duration or the exclusion of incidental/consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to you. Retailer neither assumes nor authorizes any representative to assume any obligation other than expressly set forth herein. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary by state.
