User Guide
Overview
This section details the physical components of the digital photo frame.

The rear of the frame features mounting holes for wall mounting, a power button, MicroSD card slot, USB-C port, power input port, and a kickstand insert. A slider on the back indicates 'SLIDE TO PUT ON / TAKE OFF THE BACK'.
Assembly
Installing the Kickstand
- Lay the frame face down on a flat surface.
- Align the kickstand with the kickstand insert.
- Attach the kickstand by pushing it upwards.
Wall Mounting
The frame can be mounted to a wall using the provided mounting holes and a wall mounting kit.
Changing the Frame
- Use the included flat blade screwdriver to remove the current frame.
- Replace it with one of the other included frames.
Start Using Frameo
To connect Frameo with friends and family, you need to share a code from your frame. Download the Frameo app on iOS or Android to send photos to the frame yourself.
Connecting a New Friend
- Ensure your friend has downloaded and installed the Frameo app.
- On your frame, tap the 'Add friend' icon ➕?. A connection code will appear, valid for 12 hours.
- Share this code with your friend via SMS, Email, IM, or phone call.
- Once your friend adds the code in their Frameo app, they will appear on your frame and can send photos.
Operation
Power
Use the power adapter to turn on the frame. Press and hold the power button for approximately 3 seconds to access the reboot or power off menu. A short press turns the screen on/off.
USB-A and USB-C
Insert a USB-A or USB-C flash drive to import or export photos. Photos on the USB drive can be displayed directly on the frame. You can also import photos from a computer to the frame via a USB-A to USB-C cable (not included).
Note: The USB-C port is not recommended for charging. If the DC adapter is lost, use a 12V/3A USB-C adapter. Using an adapter below 12V/3A can cause permanent damage.
Reset Button (R)
Use a pen point or paper clip to reboot the unit if it freezes or becomes unresponsive.
MicroSD
Insert a microSD card (maximum 128GB in NTFS format) into the slot. Photos on the card can be displayed directly. You can export/copy photos from the frame to the card.
DC (Power Input)
Connect the supplied DC power adapter to power on the device.
Initial Setup
- Select your language.
- Connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Set the date and time.
- Update the frame to the latest firmware version if prompted (highly recommended).
- Enter your name and frame location (e.g., 'John Doe', 'Living room').
Download the Frameo App
Download the Frameo app from the Google Play Store (Android) or the App Store (iOS) by scanning the QR code or searching for 'Frameo'.

Informative video tutorials are available on the 'Frameo Tutorials' YouTube playlist. Scan the provided QR code or use the link to find the playlist.
Connecting Your Phone to the Frame
- On the digital frame, tap the 'Add friend' icon ➕?. A connection code will appear.
- In the Frameo app, tap 'Connected frames'.
- Tap the 'Add new frame' icon ➕? in the upper right corner.
- Enter the code shown on the digital frame and tap 'Okay'.
- The frame and app will pair. You can now send photos.
Sending Photos to the Frame
- In the Frameo app, tap the gallery icon ⠿.
- Tap the camera icon to take a new photo or select photos from your phone's memory and tap 'Next'.
- To select multiple photos, tap the square icon ⬜, then select the photos.
- Select the frame(s) to send the photo to and tap 'Next'.
- Optionally, write a caption and tap 'Next'.
- Select the focal point of the photo and tap 'Send photo'.
- A notification will appear on the frame when a new photo is received. Tap it to view.
Navigating Photos
- Swipe left or right to browse photos.
- Photos cycle as a slideshow without user input.
- Tap the screen once to access the menu.
Menu Options:
- 1: Add friend ➕?: Generates a code to share for connecting new users.
- 2: Settings ⚙️: Opens the Settings menu.
- 3: Power menu ⏻: Accesses power options.
- 4: Reacts ❤️???: Opens the React menu for photo reactions. Double-tapping the screen also accesses this.
- 5: Hide photo ??️: Hides the current photo from the slideshow. Can be un-hidden in settings.
- 6: Gallery ⠿: Opens the gallery for easy photo navigation.
- 7: Fit to frame/Fill frame ?️: Toggles how photos are displayed. 'Fill frame' scales photos to fill the screen, centered on the most important part. 'Fit to frame' displays the entire photo, potentially adding background bars.
- 8: Adjust photo ?: Allows adjusting the photo's position and rotation. The edit tool can change captions (for imported photos; received photos need sender editing).
Video Playback
When a video is shown, the following controls are available:

Volume control ? | Opens the volume slider. Pressing 11 mutes/unmutes the video. |
Power Menu
Access the power menu by tapping the power icon ⏻ on the main menu.
(1) | Power | Turns the frame off. |
(1) | Restart | Restarts the frame. |
(1) | Sleep | Puts the frame into sleep mode. Press the 'Power' button on the rear to wake it. |
Note: Always use the 'Power' button or the 'Power' menu to turn off the frame. Never disconnect power while the frame is running.
React Menu
Tap one of the four reactions (like ❤️, laugh ?, surprised ?, sad ?) to send a notification to the sender.
Settings
1. My Frame
- Frame name: Changes the name visible to connected users.
- Frame location: Sets the location displayed to friends and family.
- Set language: Sets the frame's display language.
- Date: Sets the frame's date.
- Time: Sets the frame's time (auto-syncs with internet).
- Time zone: Sets the time zone.
- Enable/Disable 24-hour format: Toggles 24-hour time display.
2. Manage Photos
View photo storage status and available space. Options include:
- Show/hide photos: Select photos to hide or show. Hidden photos are not deleted.
- Delete photos: Select photos to permanently delete. Tap to select/deselect all, then confirm with the delete icon ?️.
- Import photos: Import photos from a microSD card. Select photos and tap the import button ➔. Tap to select/deselect all, then tap ≡ to sort order.
- Export photos: Export all photos and user profile pictures from the frame to the microSD card.
3. My Friends
Lists connected users who can send photos.
- Change options for a friend: Access friend options to allow/deny sharing of the frame code. Delete users from this menu, optionally removing their photos.
- Add person: Tap the 'Add friend' button ➕? and share the code to allow a new user to send photos.
4. Display
- Brightness level: Adjusts screen brightness.
- Sleep mode: Enables sleep mode to turn off the screen. Default times are 23:00 to 07:00.
Note: During sleep mode, the frame remains active and can receive photos.
5. Slideshow
- Timer: Sets photo display duration.
- Show caption: Toggles display of photo captions.
- Fill frame: Sets default photo display to fill the screen (default) or fit within the screen.
- Frame background: Select background options for photos that don't fill the screen.
- Photo display order: Set order by date taken, date received, or shuffle.
- Reverse photo display order: Reverses the display order.
- Autoplay: Enables/disables video autoplay.
- Video playback: Options for video playback: Loop, Play once, Play once and continue.
- Auto mute: Automatically mutes video volume after a period of inactivity.
- Video volume: Adjusts video volume.
6. Wi-Fi
Connect to Wi-Fi networks. If a captive portal is used, tap the icon to log in.
- Wi-Fi details: Displays connected Wi-Fi information.
- Reset Wi-Fi: Deletes Wi-Fi information and restarts the frame.
7. Notifications
Enable/disable various notifications:
- Show notifications
- Notification volume
- Storage space notifications
- Backup failure notifications
- Network connection status notifications
- New photos notifications
- New friends notifications
- Software update notifications
- Feature news notifications
- Date and time correctness notifications
8. Backup and Restore
- Backup frame to external storage (microSD card): Creates a backup of photos, users, and settings. Overrides existing backups.
- Automatic backup: Enables automatic backups within 30 hours of new photos or changes.
- Restore from backup: Restore frame from backup. Ensure backup is up-to-date. Reset the frame first if it has already been set up.
- Reset frame: Removes all data (photos, users, settings) and resets the frame.
9. Help
- Open source libraries: Lists open source libraries and licenses.
- Share anonymous analytics data: Opt-in/out of sharing anonymous data.
- Guide: Opens the quick start guide.
10. About
- Hardware brand and model number: Displays frame details.
- Frameo version: Shows the current software version.
- Peer ID: Unique ID for the photo frame.
- Check for update: Checks for available software updates.
- Beta program: Joins the Beta program for earlier updates.
