Overview of Secure Secret Provisioning (SSP) on STM32MP1 Series

Application Note AN5510

Introduction to Secure Secret Provisioning

In modern product manufacturing, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) often outsource production, which introduces risks to their proprietary assets and intellectual property (IP). To address these security concerns and prevent IP leakage, STMicroelectronics introduces the Secure Secret Provisioning (SSP) feature for the STM32MP1 Series.

SSP enables the secure programming of OEM secrets into the STM32MP1's One-Time Programming (OTP) area, ensuring confidentiality, authentication, and integrity. This application note provides a comprehensive overview of the SSP solution, its associated tools, and how it safeguards OEM secrets throughout the contract manufacturing process. It details mechanisms for protecting critical operations and data, such as cryptographic algorithms and secret keys, against unauthorized access.
