The Digital Sound Projectors achieve true surround sound by directing sound beams off the walls to reach the listening position from various angles. Everything necessary for projecting the sound is built in, so there is no need for other amps, speakers, cables, etc., making your home theatre system compact and economical. A wide variety of surround sound modes can be selected.
When you listen to conventional virtual surround systems, you hear all of the sound in, at best, three locations in front of you. In fact, there is no real surround effect. But with AIR SURROUND XTREME, you can actually identify sounds located around and behind you. You hear dialogue from a clear centre channel and other sounds from the front, specific sounds from the other channels to the sides and rear, and smooth sound movement around you.
CINEMA DSP creates complex sound fields based on acoustic patterns developed from a vast database of actual venues and input from film sound technicians, giving you the feeling that you are inside the scene you are watching.
IntelliBeam automatically sets the sound beam angles and modes for the best surround sound, while optimising the volume and frequency response of each beam. Your room becomes an ideal theatre space in just a few minutes.
No more sudden blasts of sound! This welcome feature maintains a consistent volume level between different channels, programmes, commercials and input sources. You can switch it on and off.
When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. This function restores what was lost, so your music always sounds the way it should.
Yamaha's exclusive AirWired technology lets you enjoy music from your iPod or iPhone without having to connect any cables. The AirWired link transmits uncompressed data so there is no loss of signal quality, ensuring maximum sound quality.
One of the benefits of HDMI is the availability of CEC functionality. When the unit is connected to a CECcompatible TV, it will turn on and off together with the TV, and you can use the TV remote to control the volume. CEC also provides advanced functionality with other components.

Better Sound Quality
No Motor, No Mechanism The NP-S2000 receives inputs from all of your media sources and outputs them to your audio system. It does not have its own hard drive, DVD/CD mechanism or motor. This means no noise caused by hard drive motors and actuators, no mechanism noise and no jitter from data buffering. The sound you hear has much greater clarity, detail and presence than anything you are used to.
Dual DACs, Full-Balanced Transmission Two high-precision Burr-Brown D/A converters are used, dedicated to the left and right stereo channels. The outputs are then sent through balanced transmission circuits. When connected to an amplifier with balanced input (the Yamaha A-S2000 is the best choice), the result is dramatically higher sound purity than from conventional systems.
Two Independent Power Supplies The NP-S2000 uses two high performance power supplies, a toroidal transformer for the analogue section and an IE core transformer for the digital section. This ensures higher, more stable power, while allowing the two sections to be completely isolated to prevent any interference.
Easier Access and Control
Easy Setup, Web Browser Interface The NP-S2000 comes with a setup application that guides you through installation step-bystep, making it easy to create your own digital audio network.
