Notifier ACM-30 Annunciator

Generalities

The ACM-30 annunciator allows fire alarm control panels (PCAI) or network control displays (NCD) from the NOTIFIER™ INSPIRE™™ range to be equipped with remote annunciators connected in series. Rows of LEDs locally indicate, within the PCAI or remotely, the status of the system's addressable points. The ACM-30 annunciators are designed to serve as full-function annunciators that can both receive system status information and transmit commands to the control panel. This allows the annunciator to remotely execute control panel functions in addition to displaying system status.

General system functions, such as signal silencing, system reset, and local commands (local acknowledgment and visual indicator test), are accessible via the annunciator's keypad contact points. Each ACM-30 key can be programmed to function with corresponding LEDs or independently. All buttons and LEDs are customizable. There is no fixed system function on the ACM-30. In independent mode, a single ACM-30 can be configured to display up to 60 point indicators.

Communication between the PCAI or NCD and these annunciators is via a two-wire, limited-power serial interface called the AIO bus and can be connected to the main and local bus. The ACM-30 is powered by a separate, limited-power loop from the control panel, which is inherently supervised by these annunciators (loss of power results in an annunciator communication failure to the control panel).

The N16 PCAI supports a maximum of 80 annunciators. Up to 10 ACM-30 annunciators can be configured as routers, with each router supporting up to 15 peripheral ACM-30 annunciators.

The ACM-30 capacitive touch keypad consists of 30 keys, each associated with two LEDs. The LEDs can be programmed for red, green, yellow, white, amber, blue, cyan, or violet. The keypad header features two LEDs and additional buttons intended for use as an online/power LED, system fault LED, visual indicator test button, and silence/acknowledge switch. Each annunciator also contains a local piezoelectric sounder for audible indication of alarm and trouble conditions at each annunciator.

Features

ACM-30 with ABB-1 Enclosure

The ACM-30 is based on hardware modules that allow its configuration to be adapted to specific requirements. Standard backboxes and mounting diagrams, including specific remote cabinets, facilitate the integration of annunciators with other system components. STS-1 anti-tamper security switches are available.

Operation

The ACM-30 provides up to 80 annunciators connected in series to the N16 system, each with a capacity of 62 points, for a total capacity of 4960 points. System alarm and/or trouble conditions can be announced by point or in a grouped or zoned configuration. Control of system operational commands, such as signal silencing, system reset, and local announcement commands (such as local acknowledgment and visual indicator test), can be performed using the module's capacitive touch buttons. Each ACM-30 key and LED is fully configurable using VeriFire tools.

Local or remote power supplies, combined with serial communications, allow the ACM-30 to be positioned virtually anywhere within the protected premises.

Temperature and Humidity Ranges: This system meets NFPA requirements for operation from 0°C to 49°C (32°F to 120°F); and relative humidity (non-condensing) of 85% at 30°C (86°F) per NFPA, and 93% ± 2% at 32°C ± 2°C (89.6°F ± 1.1°F) per ULC. However, the service life of backup batteries and electronic components may be negatively affected by extreme temperature and humidity ranges. Therefore, it is recommended that this system and all peripherals be installed in an environment with a nominal ambient temperature of 15°C to 27°C (60°F to 80°F).

Power Requirements: 18-30 VDC power supply, 93 mA maximum current. NOTE: The input power must be limited and non-resettable.

Panel Compatibility

Installation

The link between ACM-30 annunciators and the main fire alarm control panel is via an EIA-485 multipoint loop, eliminating the need for complex and costly wiring. Four wires are required: two for EIA-485 communications (twisted pair) and two for regulated 24 VDC power. All field wiring terminations use removable compression-type terminal blocks for ease of installation, wiring, and circuit testing.

The ACM-30 can be used to manually select speaker and telephone circuits. In this application, they are typically mounted in the main control near the microphone and telephone handset.

For remote announcement applications, the modules are typically mounted in special ABB enclosures.
