Maintenance and Cleaning
The machine may indicate when maintenance is needed (e.g., a symbol for descaling). Clean regularly (at least 4 times a year).
- Water/Power Supply: Close the water tap after each wash. Unplug the machine before cleaning.
- Exterior/Rubber Parts: Clean with a soft, damp cloth and mild soapy water. Do not use solvents or abrasives.
- Detergent Drawer: Remove and wash regularly under running water.
- Door/Drum: Leave the porthole door slightly ajar to prevent odors.
- Pump Filter: Clean the pump filter periodically (refer to Maintenance section for detailed steps on accessing and cleaning). Ensure the machine is unplugged and a container is ready for residual water.
- Inlet Hose: Check the water inlet hose annually for cracks or damage. Replace if necessary.
For descaling, Bauknecht recommends WPRO descaler. Product available via technical support or www.whirlpool.eu.
Troubleshooting
Before contacting technical support, check these common issues:
Issue | Possible Cause / Solution |
---|---|
Machine does not start. | Not plugged in correctly, no power, door not closed, EIN/AUS or START/PAUSE not pressed, water tap closed, start delay active, DEMO mode active. |
Wash cycle does not start. | Water tap closed, inlet hose kinked or not connected, low water pressure, START/PAUSE not pressed. |
Machine fills and drains continuously. | Drain hose too low, end of hose in water, no air vent in wall drain, or back pressure issues (consider anti-siphon valve). |
Water not draining / Symbol [F9E1] appears. | Pump filter blocked, drain hose kinked, drain pipe blocked. Clean pump filter. |
Excessive vibration during spin. | Transport screws not removed, machine not level, machine is jammed between cabinets/wall. |
Machine is leaking. | Inlet hose not screwed on properly, detergent drawer clogged, drain hose not connected correctly. |
Symbol flashes / Error code (e.g., F1E1). | Turn off, unplug for 1 min, plug in and turn on again. If persists, contact technical support. |
Excessive foam. | Incorrect detergent (not machine-safe), too much detergent used. |
Symbol flashes / Spin speed '0' displayed. | Load is unbalanced. Add more items of varying sizes and run 'Spin & Drain'. Avoid small loads of large, absorbent items. Mix load sizes. |
Deactivating DEMO Mode:
Turn machine ON, then OFF. Press and hold START/PAUSE (▶️) until a beep. Turn machine ON again. The 'DEMO' indicator will flash and then go out.
Tips and Advice
- Sort Laundry: By fabric type (cotton, synthetics, wool), color (separate whites, colors, wash new colors separately), and delicates (use a laundry bag for small items like socks or items with hooks like bras).
- Empty Pockets: Coins, keys, or other items can damage the machine or drum. Check all pockets and buttons.
- Use Detergent Sparingly: Follow dosage recommendations to optimize results, prevent residue, and save money.
- Use Lower Temperatures & Longer Durations: Generally more energy-efficient.
- Observe Load Sizes: Do not overload the machine to save water and energy.
- Spin Speed Affects Noise/Moisture: Higher spin speeds increase noise but reduce residual moisture.
