Polarized Plug Instructions

This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into the polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not properly fit into the outlet at first, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.

  • 2. Timer Knob: Sets the cooking time and turns the unit on/off.
  • 3. Indicator Lights: Green power-on light and orange "Heating-up" light.
  • 4. Food Basket: Holds the food for cooking.
  • 5. Handle: For safely removing the food basket.
  • 6. Main Housing: The main body of the appliance.
  • 7. Air Inlet Ring: Allows air to enter the appliance.
  • 8. Barrel Pan: A deep pan that fits into the basket.
  • 9. Pie Pan: A shallow pan, often used for baking.
  • 10. Trivet Handle: Used to lift the trivet.
  • 11. Trivet Silicone Pads (4): Secure the trivet in place.

Before The First Use

  • Unpack the appliance and its accessories (food basket, trivet, barrel pan, pie pan). Wash the removable parts in hot, soapy water and then wipe them dry. Wipe the interior of the frying cavity with a damp cloth or sponge, and then dry with a paper towel. Ensure the cavity is dry before operating.
  • Position the Emeril™ Smart Fryer Pro on a flat, level, heat-resistant, and stable surface, at least 4 inches away from any surrounding objects.
  • It is recommended to preheat the Smart Fryer for about 20 minutes without any food. This helps to eliminate residual grease and the "new" appliance smell. Ventilate the room during this period. Slight smoke or odor is normal during the first use.

Operating Instructions

1. Preparing for use

  • Place the appliance on a stable, horizontal, level, and heat-resistant surface, positioned at least 4 inches from surrounding objects.
  • Ensure the trivet (10) is securely placed inside the basket (4) for proper air circulation.
  • Insert the power plug into a wall socket.

Caution!

  • Do not fill the food basket with oil or any other liquid, as this may cause a fire hazard!
  • Never use the Smart Fryer without the food basket in place.
  • Keep all ingredients in the basket to prevent contact with heating elements. Do not overfill the food basket!
  • Do not cover the air inlet or air outlet while the appliance is in use.
  • Do not touch the inside of the appliance while it is operating.
  • Never immerse the unit's housing in water or rinse it under the tap!

2. Using the appliance

The Smart Fryer can prepare a variety of foods. Refer to the "Settings" section for cooking times or included recipes.

  • Pull the handle (5) to carefully remove the food basket (4) from the Smart Fryer (6).
  • Place ingredients into the food basket (4) on top of the trivet (10).

Note: Never fill the basket to capacity or exceed recommended amounts, as this may affect cooking quality.

  • Slide the basket back into the Smart Fryer Pro.

Caution!

Never attempt to use the Smart Fryer without the food basket in it!

Do not touch the food basket or the inside of the Smart Fryer during and immediately after use, as they get very hot. Only hold the food basket by its handle. Always use oven mitts.

  • Turn the temperature control dial (1) to the required cooking temperature (see 'Settings').
  • Determine the required preparation time (see 'Settings').
  • Turn the timer knob (2) to set the preparation time to switch the appliance on. The green power-on light and the orange "Heating-up" light (3) will turn on, and the fryer will start generating hot air.
  • The timer will count down the set time.
  • During hot air frying, the orange "heating-up" light will cycle on and off, indicating the heating element is maintaining the set temperature. The light turns off when the temperature is reached.
  • Excess oil and cooking juices may collect in the basket during cooking; this is normal.
  • Some recipes require shaking the food halfway through. To do this, gently pull out the basket, shake it, and slide it back in to continue cooking.

Note: Removing the basket briefly during cooking will minimally affect the process due to rapid air reheating.

Tip: For recipes requiring shaking, consider dividing cooking times into two phases. Set the timer for half the required time, shake when the timer bell rings, then reset for the remaining time.

Tip: If the full cooking time is set, the timer bell only sounds upon completion. You can check ingredients anytime; the power shuts down automatically and resumes when the basket is replaced. The timer continues counting down.

  • When the timer bell sounds, the set preparation time has elapsed. Using oven mitts and the handle (5), pull the basket out and place it on a heat-resistant surface.

Note: The appliance can be switched off at any time by setting the timer to "0".

  • Check if ingredients are ready. If not, slide the basket back in and set the timer for a few extra minutes.

Caution! After hot air frying, the basket, accessories, and ingredients will be hot! Steam may escape. Be mindful of scalding and wear kitchen gloves for safety.

  • To remove the trivet, wait for it to cool down completely, then lift it using the handle at its center.

Handling Cooked Food

Caution! Always rest the basket on a flat, level, and heat-resistant surface! The basket contains hot juices and fats after cooking and might tip or fall, spilling hot liquid. Risk of severe scalding!

  • Holding the basket by the handle, empty the air-fried food into a bowl or onto a plate.

Note: The trivet is secured by silicone pads. Ensure your trivet is intact with all 4 pads for optimal performance.

Tip: For large or fragile ingredients, use tongs with heat-resistant plastic tips to lift them out of the basket. Metallic tips may scratch the basket's coating.

  • The Smart Fryer is ready for another batch immediately after the previous one is finished.

Settings

The table below provides basic settings for ingredients. These are suggestions.

Tips

  • Any food prepared in a traditional oven can also be prepared in the Smart Fryer.
  • Smaller ingredients usually require slightly shorter preparation times than larger ones.
  • A larger quantity of ingredients requires a slightly longer preparation time; a smaller amount requires a slightly shorter time.
  • Shaking ingredients halfway through optimizes the end result and prevents uneven cooking.
  • Use non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  • Add a little oil to fresh potatoes for a crispy result. Fry within minutes of adding oil.
  • Do not prepare extremely greasy or fatty ingredients (like sausages) as the grease could catch fire.
  • For optimal results, use up to 1.5 lbs of sliced potatoes for crispy fries.
  • Use pre-made dough for quick filled snacks; it requires less preparation time than homemade dough.
  • Place a baking tin or oven-compatible dish in the basket for baking cakes, quiches, or frying fragile/filled ingredients.
  • Reheat food by setting the temperature to 290°F for up to 10 minutes.
  • Refer to enclosed Emeril™ recipes for ideas.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
The Smart Fryer does not work.1. The appliance is not plugged in.
2. You have not set the timer.
3. The basket is not properly locked.
1. Plug the power cord into an electrical wall socket.
2. Turn the timer knob to the required preparation time to switch on the appliance.
3. Push the basket back in the Smart Fryer properly.
The ingredients fried with the Smart Fryer are not cooked thoroughly.1. There is too much food in the basket.
2. The set temperature is too low.
3. The preparation time is too short.
1. Put smaller batches of ingredients in the basket. Smaller batches are fried more evenly.
2. Turn the temperature control knob to the required temperature setting (see section 'Settings').
3. Turn the timer knob to the required preparation time (see section 'Settings').
Fried snacks are not crispy when they come out of the Smart Fryer. You used a type of snack meant to be prepared in a traditional deep fryer.Use snacks made to be prepared in the oven, or lightly brush some oil onto the snacks for a crispier result.
I cannot slide the basket into the appliance properly.1. There is too much food in the basket.1. Do not fill the basket to capacity; refer to the "Setting" table above for maximum quantities.
White smoke comes out of the appliance.1. You are preparing greasy ingredients.
2. The pan still contains grease residue from previous use.
1. When you fry greasy ingredients, oil leaks into the bottom of the basket, producing white smoke. This may heat the pan more than usual but does not affect the appliance or the end result.
2. White smoke is caused by grease heating up. Ensure the pan is cleaned properly after each use.
French fries are fried unevenly in the Smart Fryer.1. You did not use the right type of potato.
2. You did not rinse the potato sticks properly before you fried them.
1. Use fresh potatoes and ensure they stay firm during frying.
2. Rinse potato sticks properly to remove starch from the outside of the sticks.
French fries are not crispy when they come out of the Smart Fryer. The crispiness of the fries depends on the amount of oil and water in the fries.
  • Make sure you dry the potato sticks properly before adding oil.
  • Cut potatoes into thinner sticks for a crispier result.
  • Add slightly more oil for a crispier result.
