1.1 Welcome!

Thank you for purchasing the ASUS Portable USB Touch Monitor! It offers great portability and productivity, enhancing your viewing and working experience.

1.2 Package Contents

1.3 Monitor Introduction

1.3.1 Front View and Charging Instructions

Diagram: The monitor features several ports and controls. Key elements are numbered:

IMPORTANT: Use only the bundled power adapter and USB cable to charge your monitor. Using different accessories may cause potential damage.

IMPORTANT: For best performance, use the power adapter specifically for the MB16AMTR.

⚠️ WARNING: The adapter may become warm to hot during use. Do not cover it and keep it away from your body. If the device becomes unusually hot, disconnect the USB cable and contact an ASUS qualified service personnel.

1.3.2 QuickFit Function

The QuickFit function offers two patterns:

  1. Grid pattern: Helps designers and users organize content and layout for a consistent look. Alignment Grid 1 rotates automatically if auto-rotation is enabled.
  2. Photo size: Allows photographers and users to accurately view and edit photos in real size on the screen. Displays common photo dimensions like 4x6 and 3x5.

Chapter 2: Setup

2.1 Adjusting the Monitor

Diagram: The monitor can be tilted. The tilt angle can be adjusted between approximately 70° and 35° relative to the surface.

2.2 Connect the USB Monitor with System

Diagram A: Connects via Mini-HDMI for video and USB (for touch function) for touch input.

Diagram B: Connects via USB Type-C for both video and touch input.

Diagram C: Connects via USB Type-C for touch input and Mini-HDMI for video. Requires driver installation.

Must connect a USB cable between the monitor and the input device to enable touch signal transmission.

Chapter 3: General Instruction

3.1 OSD (On-Screen Display) Menu

3.1.1 How to Reconfigure

Diagram: Shows the OSD menu with options like Splendid, Standard Mode, sRGB Mode, etc.

Navigation:

  1. Press the Central button of the 5-way key to display the OSD menu.
  2. Use the Up and Down keys to navigate through menu options. The selected option name is highlighted.
  3. Press the Right key or the Central button to select a highlighted item.
  4. Use the Up and Down keys to select desired parameters.
  5. Press the Right key or the Central button to enter a slide bar, then use Up/Down keys to make changes.
  6. Press the Left key to return to the previous menu.

Icon Meanings:

3.1.2 OSD Function Introduction

This section details various OSD functions:

  1. Splendid: Offers eight sub-functions for image preference:
    • Standard Mode: Best for document editing.
    • sRGB Mode: Best for viewing photos and graphics from PCs.
    • Scenery Mode: Best for scenery photo display.
    • Theater Mode: Best for movie watching.
    • Game Mode: Best for game playing.
    • Night View Mode: Best for dark-scene games or movies.
    • Reading Mode: Best for book reading.
    • Darkroom Mode: Best for low ambient light environments.

    Note: In Standard, sRGB, and Reading modes, certain functions like Saturation, SkinTone, Sharpness, Contrast, Color Temp, and ASCR may not be user-configurable.

  2. Blue Light Filter: Adjusts blue light emission from the LED backlight to reduce eye strain. Options range from Min to Max. Maximum setting reduces blue light scattering. Compliance with TUV low blue light certification. Brightness is user-configurable at maximum level.
  3. Color: Adjusts image color settings:
    • Brightness: 0 to 100.
    • Contrast: 0 to 100.
    • Saturation: 0 to 100.
    • Color Temp.: Preset modes (Cool, Normal, Warm) and User Mode.
    • Skin Tone: Reddish, Natural, Yellowish.
    • Smart View: Versatile viewing positions with Smart View Technology.

    In User Mode, R, G, B colors are user-configurable from 0 to 100.

  4. Image: Adjusts image properties:
    • Sharpness: 0 to 100.
    • Trace Free: Speeds up response time (0 to 100).
    • Aspect Control: Options include "Full" and "4:3".
    • VividPixel: ASUS technology for clearer visuals (0 to 100).
    • ASCR: Enables/disables dynamic contrast ratio.

    4:3 aspect ratio is only available for 4:3 input sources.

  5. Input Select: Choose between HDMI and Type-C input signals.
  6. System Setup: Configures system settings:
    • Auto Rotation: Enables automatic image rotation (requires DisplayWidget Center software on Windows OS).
    • ECO Mode: Power-saving mode. Activates when battery power is below 20%, adjusting brightness to extend usage time. Designed for NB/PC only. Requires "Charging from NB/PC" selection and is only available via Type-C input.
    • Touch Screen: Supports 10-point touch technology. Use with Windows 10 OS or above. Can be enabled for single or multi-finger touch, or disabled.
    • Volume: Adjusts headphone and speaker volume.
    • Input Device Pop-up: Enable/disable pop-up questions for Input Device & Power Supply.
    • Input Device: Select "Phone" or "NB/PC". For "NB/PC", choose "Charging From NB/PC" to sustain working time. "No Charging From NB/PC" disables power supply. Note that "No Charging" means power under 100mA and does not affect host device battery life. Battery may still be consumed due to limited NB/PC power output.
    • USB-C Charging: Type-C output (up to 10W) requires a DC power adapter. Can be disabled when not in use.
    • Standby Mode: Select ON for wake-up during power saving, or OFF to power off after 15 seconds of power saving.
    • GamePlus: Provides tools for gaming, like Crosshair, Timer, and Display Alignment. To activate, press the GamePlus button, select a function, and confirm. Crosshair/Timer are movable using the 5-way key.
    • QuickFit: Refer to page 1-4 for details.
    • OSD Setup: Adjusts OSD Timeout, DDC/CI, and Transparency.
    • Language: Select OSD language from a list including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Czech, Croatian, Hungarian, Romanian, Portuguese, Turkish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Thai, Indonesian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese.
    • Key Lock: Disables all key functions. Press and hold the down button for over five seconds to disable.
    • Power Key Lock: Disable/enable the power key.
    • Information: Displays monitor information.
    • All Reset: Resets all settings to factory defaults.
  7. Shortcut: Allows users to set shortcut keys for functions like Blue Light Filter, Splendid, Brightness, Contrast, Auto Rotation, Input Select, and Volume. Right key defaults to volume, Up key to input selection, Down key to brightness.
  8. MyFavorite: Load/Save all settings on the monitor (e.g., Setting 1, Setting 2, etc.).

3.2 DisplayWidget Center

Download the latest DisplayWidget Center from the MB16AMTR official website under the "Support" tab, then "Driver & Utility".

Always connect your MB16AMTR to the input device FIRST before launching DisplayWidget Center.

It is recommended to create a desktop shortcut for easier activation.

3.3 Touch Panel Setting

If your input device is connected to more than one extended monitor, follow these steps for touch setting:

  1. Search for "Control Panel" in the Windows search box and open it.
  2. Navigate to Hardware and Sound > Tablet PC Settings > Setup.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions. Click "enter key" or touch the screen. If the setting message appears on a non-touch panel, click "enter key". When the message moves to the MB16AMTR screen, touch the MB16AMTR screen to complete the setting.

3.5 Troubleshooting (FAQ)

Power LED is not ON
  • Press the button to check if the monitor is in the ON mode.
  • Check if the signal cable is properly connected to the monitor and the computer.
  • Check if the USB Type-C cable is properly connected to the "DC in" port of the monitor and the adaptor.
The power LED lights amber and there is no screen image
  • Check if the monitor and the computer are in the ON mode.
  • Make sure the signal cable is properly connected between the Monitor and the computer.
  • Inspect the signal cable and make sure none of the pins are bent.
  • Connect the computer with another available monitor to check if the computer is properly working.
Screen image is too light or darkAdjust the Brightness settings via the button.
Screen image bounces or a wave pattern is present in the image
  • Make sure the signal cable is properly connected between the Monitor and the computer.
  • Move electrical devices that may cause electrical interference.
How to use C to DP cable with factory default settings?
  • Plug the ASUS PD adaptor into DC in port. (Factory default OSD USB-C charging option is on)
  • Plug the C to DP cable into the USB-C port.
  • Start using the MB16AMTR.
When the OSD USB-C Charging option is switched from on to off, it results in no signal when connected via Type-C to DP cable. How should this be addressed?
  • Power supply is required. Follow these steps:
  • 1. Plug the ASUS PD adaptor into DC in port.
  • 2. Input video: (a) HDMI via mini HDMI cable, (b) USB Type-C via C to C cable, or (c) USB Type-C via C to A cable.
  • 3. Open main menu OSD. Set USB-C Charging to ON.
  • 4. Reconnect the C to DP cable.
