ATEN 8-Outlet 1U eco PDU Quick Start Guide
This document provides a quick start guide for various ATEN eco PDU models including PG5308A, PG5308B, PG5308G, PG6308A, PG6308B, PG6308G, PG8208G, PG8308A, PG8308B, and PG8308G.
Hardware Overview
The eco PDU features:
- Front View: Power outlets, USB Type-A port, COM + PON port, LAN 1, LCD panel, menu/back button, select button, enter button, LAN 2, sensor port, reset button, and outlet status LEDs (except for PG5308).
- Rear View: Power inlet, power cord, circuit breaker for outlets 1-4, and circuit breaker for outlets 5-8.
Note: The PG5308 model does not have outlet status LEDs.
Installation
- Ensure the unit is properly grounded. This is crucial to prevent damage from power surges or static electricity.
- Connect the power cable of each connected device to an available outlet on the eco PDU. Use ATEN Lok-U-Plug cable holders for securing cables.
- Connect the unit's LAN 1 or LAN 2 port to a network using an Ethernet cable. For network redundancy, both LAN ports can be connected. The LAN ports can also be used to cascade multiple PDUs.
- (Optional) Connect an environmental sensor (ATEN EA1640 Temperature & Humidity Sensor) to the unit's sensor port.
- (Optional) Connect an RS-232/RS-485 serial controller to the unit's COM port.
- Connect the unit's built-in power cord to an AC power source to turn it on, then turn on the connected devices. For the PG8208G model, connect the supplied power cord to its power inlet and then to the external power source.
Rack Mount Installation
- Attach the two mounting brackets to the sides of the unit using the provided screws.
- Align the mounting brackets' screw holes with the front of the rack and secure the unit using self-supplied screws.
Operation
ATEN eco PDUs can be managed through three methods:
Web Console
- Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the eco PDU. The default IP addresses are 192.168.0.60 for LAN 1 and 192.168.0.61 for LAN 2.
- If a security alert appears, accept the certification as it is trusted.
- Enter a valid username and password. For the first login, use the default credentials: username 'administrator' and password 'password'.
- Click 'Login' to access the main page.
eco DC
All ATEN eco PDUs support ATEN eco DC, which provides an intuitive graphical user interface for configuring PDUs and monitoring connected equipment. Install the software by visiting the product web page and downloading the installer from the 'Support and Downloads' tab.
SNMP
The PDUs are compatible with third-party SNMP Manager Software (V1, V2, and V3). Obtain the software installer from the product page's 'Support and Downloads' tab.
