Installation Instructions

New Construction Installation

Before Installation: Ensure electricity is shut off. Remove fuse or turn off circuit breaker.

  1. Step 1: Place the fan housing (A) next to a ceiling joist. Ensure it is level and perpendicular to the joist, allowing for ceiling board thickness. Position the housing so its bottom edge is flush with the ceiling board. (Diagram shows housing positioned next to a joist).
  2. Step 2: Before mounting, remove the duct connector for easier access to the mounting hole. This is done by inserting a flathead screwdriver between the connector and the fan housing metal and gently prying it away. (Diagram shows removing the duct connector).
  3. Step 3: Mount the fan housing (A) to the joist using wood screws (AA) through the indicated holes on the metal tabs. Tighten until secure. (Diagram shows screws being inserted into the housing tabs).
  4. Step 4: Replace the duct connector by hooking it onto one side of the metal flange in the fan housing opening and pressing the other side to snap it into place. Ensure all four metal flanges are inside the plastic duct connector. (Diagram shows the duct connector being reattached).
  5. Step 5: Remove the wiring box cover from the fan housing (A). Pull house wires through the cover. Use quick connectors to connect house wiring from the wall switch to the fan housing (A). 14 AWG is the minimum conductor size for branch-circuit wiring. Refer to wiring diagrams on page 5 for proper connections. Push connections into the box and reattach the cover. (Diagram shows wiring box cover, quick connector, and wire connections). CAUTION: If wire colors do not match, consult a licensed electrician.
  6. Step 6: Connect a 4-inch circular duct to the duct connector on the fan housing (A), securing with duct tape or a clamp. Vent the duct to the outside. Finish ceiling work, ensuring the ceiling hole aligns with the fan housing edge. (Diagram shows duct connection).
  7. Step 7: Connect the BLUETOOTH® speaker and LED light connectors from the fan housing (A) to the grille (B). Push gray connectors firmly together and twist the plastic nut to secure. The grille (B) must be connected before turning on power. (Diagram shows connector alignment and securing).
  8. Step 8: Attach grille (B) by pinching mounting springs and inserting them into the narrow rectangular slots in the fan housing (A). Turn on power and test the unit. (Diagram shows grille attachment with springs).

Existing Construction Installation

Before Installation: Ensure electricity is shut off. Remove fuse or turn off circuit breaker.

Installation requires accessible area above and existing duct/wiring.

  1. Step 1: Remove the existing fan. (Diagram shows removing an old fan).
  2. Step 2: Measure the opening to ensure it is large enough for the new fan housing (A) dimensions (7-1/2 in. x 7-1/4 in.). (Diagram shows measuring an opening).
  3. Step 3: If not replacing an old fan, cut a 7-3/4 in. x 7-1/2 in. opening for the fan housing. (Diagram shows cutting an opening with dimensions).
  4. Step 4: Detach the two grille mounting brackets by removing their screws. Save screws for reinstallation. (Diagram shows detaching mounting brackets).
